Back in 1974 I saw my first Oscars. Actually prior to that my only Cichlid experience was with Angel fish in the mid 60's. So Oscars reminded me so much of dogs and if you knew me you would know it is a complement. They are always interested in what is going on, they seem to want to interact. They were the first fish I ever saw actually sleep! Scared the heck out of me, thought they were dead. Big Cichlids are great fish and really just make life more interesting.
I’ve seen this fish room in person and the camera has a difficult time putting the size of these fish in perspective. Truly monster cichlids. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I've kept fish most of my life and I can say for sure they have personalities just like any dog or cat.. They love interaction with their keepers and are great pets to have.. For people that are new to keeping fish, read, read, read about how to properly take care of them.. Saltwater fish tanks take a bit more work, but educating yourselves on exactly how to take care of the water it'self.. The pH of the water is very important.. With a saltwater tank you Need a protein skimmer and it has to be rinsed out Every day.. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed with everything you need to do to keep fish healthy.. If you read about it and ask your local pet store's fish keeper questions, you will be fine.. About your local pet shop, if their fish tanks are dirty and all messed up, don't ask them anything and don't buy any fish from them.. Practice makes perfect and all things can be done with the knowledge of how to do it properly..
I'm subscribed to Brian's channel and watch his monthly updates. Really cool to see tanks and fish filmed next to him. It really showcased how big tanks and fish are.
Can you tell everyone why these fish sometimes lose their hump? Is that age? Is it that they are not spawning anymore? I'm just curious and I think everyone is. Thanks for your time. Great video
It’s easy to tell that the fish are well cared for and are truly pets and not just something cool to have and barge about. The condition of these fish and their enclosures where at a standard seldom reached by many in the hobby.
Hi, awsome fish and set up. Can the male and female be kept togather at all times, if the tank is large enough. People say FH is aggressive and a stand alone fish.
Great fish, well taken care of. I just wish all these big Cichlid guys would take a pottery class and make fake caves or tree hollows and get rid of the terra cotta pots, the PVC pipes and the cement blocks!. Seeing a big bad cichlid with all that mess is like looking at a junkyard dog and rusted cars. Love dem Midas Fish...better a big old log then....lol.
Great video as always brotha. Amazing fish room tour. Those fish are huge and so beautiful. Thanks for sharing and as always...Do what you do if it works for you.
Awesome fish love how u said like a pet dog. Cause people don’t know that cichlids are interactive when they get to know u. I have a jack Dempsey that I give him food directly into his mouth. N he always reacts to my face n glows brighter when I’m around
