I got my promontory version at a very good price, even lower than what I would’ve paid thanks to some trade ins, but that TTG/W version is beautiful. After I get a big steam decoder from Soundtraxx I’ll be swapping sounds and adding my first Scale Sound Systems speakers to a model. Can’t wait! :)

Got my 4022 today. Sadly it has a little bend and chipped paint on one of the tender ladders. Probably not worth making a return for, but with how much these cost... Looks like all 3 of yours came in perfect. Congrats and thanks for the review.
The greyhound 3977 is much more appealing than 3985. Love that scheme my first model train was a greyhound 4-8-4. To this day I am determined to get the same model and put more money than it’s worth into upgrades.
Love the engines - too bad they couldn’t put the special ceremony on as a recording. Can’t wait to see you put that together with your brass passenger cars for a 22 cars special with auxiliary flag tender . Too cool. Can’t wait for the completed layout - looking good.
No sanding pipes needed on the tender. It is not driven, it is towed. I am not positive, but those pipes might be for heated water to keep the water reservoir and the fuel oil on an oil-fired locomotive at a temperature where it can be fed into the locomotive.
I had lot of Trouble with mine. 1st, it will nit drive at Roco R5. And it smelled after 2 min like burned plastic when I use smoke. 9month lafter after repair the same. Now I ordered the rivarossi BB w/o Smoke.
I finally got my 4014 Bigboy from trainworld. I was wondering dose the rolling thunder system still work with the new paradigm 4 since it says it only works with paradigm 3? Love the video and love that gloss finish on the Bigboy.
What's the best way to do replacement of the road wheels ( the rudder traction tires ). Both on HO and N Scale. Is it better to send a N Scale in to the service department ( Big Boy)
Very impressive UP "big boy" model, I would like to purchase an ho scale model of a big boy locomotive sometime in the future but first, I need to find a higher paying quality job/ earn some additional income so that I will be able to actually purchase one of these expensive models.
Do you have to put smoke fluid down in the whistle or are all of the smoke stacks and whistles come of the same reservoir. I’m buying a big boy brodway limited with a steaming whistle and I don’t know if I need to put smoke down the whistle
My opinion here.. yes, but the sound imho is terrible and mine will get upgraded to SoundTraxx Tsunami2. Die-cast it’s heavy and pulls well. Enough detail, but could use more.. but it son par with all others I’ve seen. Just not a fan at all of their decoders and sound. Not reliable and sound terrible. After upgrade, it’ll be great!! I’ll do mine soon.
BLI engines still sound like the old QSI junk systems from 15+ years ago. My BLI Big Boy and UP 844 sounds absolutely atrocious when compared to the likes of my MTH 611 or Soundtraxx-equipped Southern 4501. They need to junk their proprietary sound system, and go with something that doesn’t suck. For $800+, it should sound better.
Steam Locomotives are the coolest!!! Never gets tired of looking and running them.

Instructions are vague. I got the latest release of 4014. No lubrication instructions. How do you grease the gearbox's?

Just fill it up through the smokestacks is what I’ve heard.
