HD SG doesn't sound at all like a fender, if you're talking about the body shape and the neck it's near next to impossible to come up with something unique at this day and age
Gorgeous!!! Beautiful video about great guitar and amp crafters of all time! Friedman guitars are one of the best, because they are made by hands and soul.
I love all the guitars that Grover has designed! The guy is a genius. I played the Friedman guitars. They're simply amazing. Light yet huge sounding. I watched several pros play them as well. Just beautiful instruments!!
Finally own one of the Friedman/ Jackson guitars.... just an amazing instrument! The moment I picked it up and played it I knew there was no way I wasn't buying that guitar... the only fear was how much it was going to cost me! Thankfully I was getting a used one and Dane at Zimm's Guitar's in Mesa, Arizona hooked me up! He's a good guy and knows his guitars! Thanks to all of you for making something truly special! 😎🤘🎸
Had the chance the play a few of these recently, and I'll agree I've never played anything quite like it. It was a very unique and excellent instrument. Absolute top shelf quality.
You can order any Friedman guitar you want without a relic job. On their website, choose Cali. When that opens, towards the bottom of the text on the page, there is a downloadable order form where you get to choose how you would like to configure your instrument.
Obviously people have an opinion on relicing guitars to make them look older. Some people love it, others hate it. I have been a professional violist for a long time and know many luthiers. Nearly every single one I have seen makes their new instruments look old. This has been happening for ages. They can make an instrument look like it was made in 1690 and played for the past 300 years. I think they look fantastic when done well. A great modern violin goes from about $25k well on up to considerably more. None of them look new.
Carving a guitar with a rock and a mastodon tooth is romantic, but impractical. Using a CNC machine means you have to trade those old-school hand-building techniques for the steep learning curve that is CAD/CAM. That little detail is often overlooked by the luthier/guitar player wannabes.
I have no issue with trusting the overall quality of these guitars but i need to know what the neck profile is like? Is it anything like a old 1981-82 Charvel?
Nope, Not since 2021. What's out there on the used market is all there will ever be. Get one while you can, prices will only go up on the Grover built Friedmans.
@@bradleywood1499 Ty for the heads up Grover is a awesome Gentleman he sold me a awesome Jackson neck with shark fin inlays in 1997 and even shimmed it to fit my 94 Japan Jackson stealth ex model we spoke on a few occasions regarding this and I found it so classy of him to take the time to take out of his then very busy schedule. Cheers from Lido Isle, Newport Beach, CA. 🌊
I may sound like a boomer but knowing Grover Jackson has a piece on the guitars is enough for me to trust a Friedman guitar and the price that goes with it. I hope he stays on
How much are they going for??? Jackson guitars on their own are great and affordable. However, teaming up with Friedman probably notched them up 3K or more....
Phill PT wtf. Not everyone reads your post the moment it comes out. There’s millions of videos to watch but we’ll get right on urs the minute u write it.
Boy I can tell you if I am going to fork out serious cabbage for a brand new guitar I sure as hell don't want it to have that "dragged behind a truck look"....if I look into that finish I better see 5 faces staring back!! I never got the beat the shit out of look, kinda like stolen valor if you asked me.
It may have a TINY bit of truth with an acoustic, but an electric? Agree...that's ridiculous marketing crapola. I've played the same guitar with NO finish, and then a heavy clear coat, and there's no difference whatsoever in tone, sound, response, sustain.....none.
@@swingset1969 My experiences are different than yours. I have had a lot of Strats over the years, two of them had a very thin finish. They sound more open with less bass than the others (plugged in or not). I also own a Strat were the paint was removed , again very different sounding than others with paint.
Totally onboard until I saw the plek machine. I hope you get someone better than the monkeys at Gibson to program it. No matter how fine that machine is able to work, someone that actually understands fretwork has to run it.
What is wrong with the way Gibson does it? I don't see how it could be so bad...Gibsons are typically 12 inch radius, so the PLEK would then put in a micro-compound radius across the entire board, where you'd most likely end up with around 12.5-13" at the last fret. The PLEK would also make sure the frets are 100% level. There's really no way you can screw this up...
The Fish The Fish I was "Totally onboard until I saw" your comment and realized that that you are ignorant ...." I hope you get someone better than the monkey " that you are to make comments for you.. cause " No matter how fine" you try to make your comments...they always sound like they are coming from an idiot...
Did Dave Friedman just say relic'd guitars sound better? Since when does FAKING the natural wear and tear, dings, scratches, etc. that happens over YEARS of playing a guitar make it sound better?
I thought the same thing.........................As soon as I hear that marketing BS, it turns me off. If these were truly hand built guitars by Jackson himself, it would be worth every penny.................But here your paying for a name, and marketing BS.
TheTRUTH Not only is it annoying it's fucking stupid, also more importantly it's pretentious, you didn't earn that, you didn't play your guitar 25 years in dingy bars in front of 12 people, you weren't on the road, you didn't earn the marks and the scratches, you're just a pretentious fuck who thinks it's cool to have this old looking thing.
Name not Found how do you know where we play? ASSumer. I have an 88 Fender American standard it looks brand new with its thick poly coating genius. Get off the post because u don’t know what you’re talking about. Only nitro coating relics. #Jerkjackass. You deserve a brand new name.
Friedman dont talk guitars your not guitars, let Jackson do that ,I didnt want a Friedman guitar because you talked about it "your not guitars ,Jackson is"! if I buy a guitar its because of Grover Jackson I dont want Friedman to sign it !
blah blah blah - bullshit. same shit...different day and all hype. soo sick of everybody copying Les Paul, Strats, and Tele's and reinventing the wheel. No uniqueness. You want a Les Paul, Strats, or Tele...just buy one from the Gibson or Fender. You dont like the tone...pickup some pickups from Motor City Pickups or Bare Knuckle, Seymour Duncan or whoever you prefer.
Grover Jackson is a legend in the guitar building business.
Grover Jackson's guitar is the reason why i love this instrument so much.Such a legendary luthier
What a great collaboration loved the tone talk with Grover, can't wait to get my hands on one of those guitars.
Two Gods of music equipment, love my GJ2 guitars
Just when i started my long journey of saving for a Friedman amp you guys cone up with guitars....im totally screwed
I'm screwed as well.
why copy fender though

@@hdsg8361 Why ask stupid questions "though"?
Mark David they literally have copied the telecaster in every way , no innovation at all no pushing the boat forwards trying to create something new.
Good too see some new innovations and creations
Great clip guys! I just bought one of your JJ amps and man what tonal quality it has, next up, one of your guitars!!! Awesome job guys!!!
Grover is the man! I've been a huge fan of his designs since I was a teenager!
Amazing instruments! Amazing gear! Amazing people!

I played the Cali today and it’s one of the best guitars I have ever played.
I luv my Cali, plays amazing. Frets are so smooth to play over.
They are great guitars and the pickups are super clear sounding. If I could get a non-reliced white and maple Cali, I would buy one.
Pretty sure the relic-ing is an option and you can get it without it!
NickH you can get non relic’d.

I really like the metal dow idea at the neck joint.
It's doing literally nothing. The 4 bolt design already doesn't allow for neck movement. Unless you're swinging your guitar at zombie heads it's pretty unnecessary.
03:56 I love you guys. Ultra rare

Thank Leo Fender!!
Yea,two Gods of music👌
So the bridge humbucker would be real similar to a Motor city 2nd degree black belt then?
These are the only guitars i lust for...
Beutiful guitars, which one should I get? Friedman or Shabbat Guitars?
I have no issue with trusting the overall quality of these guitars but i need to know what the neck profile is like?

I just bought a Cali and I have to say it's the best guitar I ever played.
love those P90s. Are you guys going to be at the L.A Amp show?
Is Grover still involved with Friedmen currently with relation to guitars?

When will the set necks start to ship?? Been waiting since NAMM :)
I'm sold just because of the dowel pins in the neck pocket. neck shift is the ugly side of the Fender coin.
You can mod any bolt on guitar with dowels btw.
OMG 😱 I want one😍
love it ♥️

I’d like to see something like a “Flathead” style Telecaster
How much are they going for???
Jackson guitars on their own are great and affordable. However, teaming up with Friedman probably notched them up 3K or more....
I suspect affordable Jackson guitars aren’t really “Jackson” anymore as the brand is owned by Fender.
They left the last part of the audio out: "I don't know how to do anything" (else)
A guy can dream..
Sorry, but why didn´t anyone review/demonstrate the Motor City Drive properly? PLEASE!!!
I'm a good costumer of yours.
Have you seen Henning Pauly's review? Is that not proper?
Do you know how long this comment was made? LOL -But thanks anyway
Well a month ago I would guess... Anywho the video was relatively recent so I didn't bother looking at that.
I've been looking for this pedal since I saw it in winter namm. ;)

Love this stuff, dont like seeing the FRIEDMAN on the headstock though
The dark headstock is a serious turn off for me.... it looks like the guitar is wearing a sock... this is from a Friedman fan.
You can configure your build however you like. There is a downloadable PDF in their webpage for each particular model on offer.
