My own dog owner insticts told me I should be seeking ways to exercise my 17 week old puppy before putting her in the crate when we leave for work. We are fortunate that our household schedules allow for her to only be in the crate twice a week for 4-7 hours max. This was some great advice. Thanks for sharing!

I highly recommend using a slow feeder with puppies, they can easily get bloated or choke. If your puppy gets bloated, take them to the vet ASAP. I also recommend putting the food inside of puzzle toys, snuffle mats, kongs and other toys. It makes feeding fun for them and exercises their mind, it also helps prevent bloating and other issues.

My dog's daycare opens at 6 AM and closes at 7:30 PM. That takes care of all of that crate business. The dogs are so tired when you pick them up that they fall asleep in the car.

@@garyc4019there are people in the comments here talking about crating their dogs all day while at work. Doggie daycare, if you pick a safe & reputable one is a fantastic way to ensure your dog spends the day running, playing, and socializing with other dogs in a safe, supervised environment.
Our pup comes home tired, nails naps for a bit, and plays more in the evening. We do training, walks, and two meals at home, and she's home all weekend and plays with all of us.

They have mentioned in other videos to never leave a dog in a crate for more that 3 max 4 hours at a time. If one is away one should get someone (friends, dog service etc) to take the doggo out mid-morning, lunch and mid afternoon.

You should not get a dog in that case!

Never leave your dog in a crate for that long. Don't get a dog if you want to leave them in a crate all day. They need to run, play, stretch and walk around, they can't do that in a crate. A dog should ONLY be left in a crate at night time when they are puppies. The crate should be in your bedroom and they should have a lick mat or a kong in the crate with them if they get bored. As soon as you wake up, let them out of the crate and take them outside ASAP. When they get older and they aren't having accidents inside, you can leave the crate door open so they can go in and out as they please.

Can anyone tell me how to train to 1 year old pups to not chew and dig up my whole yard? They seem to do it when I'm not home so they know it's not behavior I want. How do I correct this? Thanks!

    • @mobstercrow7515

@@cherijaramillo3123 NEVER leave your dog outside unless you are home. They can easily get hurt, eat things that could hurt them, get attacked by wild animals, eat toxic food, overheat and more. It's very dangerous.
