Sewing can be great but also daunting!
In this sewing vlog I am sewing the Aura Dress by Papercut Patterns and talking to you about why you should still choose to have a go at sewing even when you’re scared of getting it wrong.
🌸 You can subscribe here: bit.ly/3e9EP9g
And you can follow me on Instagram here / alexandra__burnett
Perfectionism in sewing is a dangerous mentality that will only leave you paralysed and will stop you from picking up a sewing project.
I am changing the way I am sewing and I encourage you to do that same.
Instead of focusing on the end result, focus on the beauty of sewing, the journey, the craft itself, and leave the end result alone, because by trying and doing your best, you will grow in your sewing skills and you will learn more than if you were stuck, frozen, by the fear of messing up.
How many of us have stashes of fabric and patterns that are untouched because we can’t get ourselves to pick something and just have a go?
My sewing videos have hopefully proved to you that messing up is an integral part of sewing. And it happens to the best of us.
But it’s better to get it wrong, to have some sewing fails, pick yourself back up, and learn a ton in the process, rather than be stuck in a vicious cycle of not wanting to give it a go, because of fear of ruining patterns and fabric.
Aside from the talk, I will show you the process of sewing a beautiful wrap dress, The Aura Dress by Papercut Patterns.
I sewed the pattern in size 3, and the fabric is a light weight viscose that I bought from an Instagram seller.
For this project I used a sewing machine, scissors, rotary cutter, cutting matt, clipping shears, seam ripper, iron, pins and interfacing.
Everything is filmed and edited by myself.
Hope you enjoy this Sewing Vlog❣️

I want to give you as much encouragement for your creativity and my hope is that you’ll find a lot of positivity on this channel. Lots of love, Alexandra - Розваги
I have fabric in my stash that's been there over 20 year's because I'm too afraid of cutting it and ruining it. Thanks for inspiring me to have a go.
Yes, go give that fabric a new life! Let it see the light of the day! Sending love! thanks for watching!
After 20 plus years you will be doing that fabric a favour, don't be afraid 👍
omg over 20years ,that means too much germs and mites , beware to wear face shield hat mask if not your skin will be very itchy
I also have pieces of fabric in my collection that I bought many years ago….it came to me recently that each piece represents a dream I had that didn’t come true.
I so needed to hear this as I've been struggling with getting over the fear of messing up. ....having a huge pile of fabrics and the fear of cutting into them ...Thank you!!!!
Thank you for watching. I am so glad to hear it resonated, and girlfriend, go for it!!! The fabrics are longing to see the light of day! X 💕

WoW!!!
You are too beautiful..
whomever see you should believe that God is true and real..
and whenever I see you I feel like Iam in a dream..
And when we wake up we will all realize that all this life was nothing but a dream and that only God is whats true and real..
❤🌷😘
Even if let say I never seen your lovely beautiful radiant
cute baby face
nor touched you
in any place
nor smelled and kissed your wonderful neck and breast..
nor heard your lovely soft warm voice
you still know that you exist,
& Its true that we dont see God but we all know that God exists
There was a teacher who did not believe in the existence of God, he said to his students, do you see God?
the students answered no we don't see God, so the teacher said if you don't see God it means there is no God.
then a smart student stood up and said to the other students hey guys can you see the teachers brain?
then the student answered no we don't see the teachers brain, the student then said the teacher is crazy he has no brain
:0)
the universe
science says
was not always there it had a beginning point
the big bang
meaning it was begun initiated in other words created,
thus there should be a creator,
there must be a God,
we don"t see God and we don"t know the essence of God thats a different story,
But we see how things in the universe obey rules and we see some wisdom in things indicating he is knowledgeable and wise, and we see different things many verity of things and creatures
and that indicates the capability of God,
and we also see that all things are made of almost the same thing
for example everything is made-up of particles
and energy and space or vacuum,
meaning they share a similarity some how indicating unity
Which proves that the creator of all things is one
One God for all of us
And God is the creator of space and time and time and space came together they were created together
Meaning that God is not found within the
space time dimension
And is greater than to be contained within space and time frame and borders, also whatever was proven to exist-the universe proves the existence of God-
but was not proven by scientific facts and evidence-¬ by
logic alone-to not have had a beginning point it means that
there is a possibility that
That thing may have existed all the time and was not begun or created and thus has no creator,, the universe proves the existence of God but God not proven by
scientific evidence
& not logic alone
that he had a beginning point, so God may have existed all the time, yes God existed all the time
if God proven to exist but had no beginning point also that means
he has no creator.
God initiated everything and he repeats things too, and thats clear we see many cycles of things, water cycle,
animal and plants
food chain cycle,
God created this life and it is only a temporary sample or an example of a coming everlasting one which
could be either in heaven paradise or in hell.
If we try to be
good humans in life and try to obey God and his messengers and those whom rightly represent them, then we will go to heaven/paradise, if not we will go to hell fire and burn in it forever.

I almost never comment on videos. But this one is so touching, calming and inspiring at the same time, that I just want to say: Thank you! The dress is gorgeous.
So touched by this! Thank you so much! Sending love!
Such a joy to see someone in joy over something they poured their heart out to make:) you continue to be an inspiration to me:)thank you
I was genuinely speechless!💕
Thank you for watching, and I am glad my content resonates!
You’re so right. You can’t learn without allowing yourself to make mistakes. I get precious about my fabrics and buy less expensive ones to experiment on but then still don’t get on with it. It’s a theme that runs through other parts of my life. Fear of getting it wrong, but I’m learning to let go of perfectionism.
Yes, to buying less expensive ones to experiment! But haha do get on with it! It's time to learn and live! XXX
Yes we are so fearful about failing that we sto trying. So sad just keep on trying. Use less expensive fabrics and never, never stop learning. Life is all about learning❤😊
I really like your sewing/vlog/thoughts videos. So calming and inspiring. Thanks for the great work!
Ah thank you so much for watching and leaving such a kind comment, it's so encouraging to me! Sending love XXX
I’ve never put up an ironing board with such confidence
I laughed so much a this comment - I don't know why it tickled me so much, but you are right, that's a confidence ironing board move! XXX Thank you for watching and cheering me up.
Just the video I needed today :)
Justine, I am so happy to hear this! You've no idea! Thank you so much for sharing! X
Dear Alexandra, I have turned 70 this past year and I get perfectionism. But I'm finally over it. I cut out a shirt but I realised ( to late) no instructions. It was a thrifted pattern. So I ended up not sewing in front yokes but I realized I just needed to take things out and redo. I can fix this. I did ,and so glad. Shirt is beautiful. Thank u Alexandra for your inspiration.
Happy birthday Christine! 70 years of being alive and making it through the bad and good - it's no small thing! I love your "I can fix this" attitude - I need that in my life so much!
I really needed to hear this, thank you Alexandra for sharing this video. Love your dress and it looks amazing on you.
Thank you Sharon for watching. It’s so encouraging to me to hear that the video resonated. Thank you for taking the time to share!!! Xxx
Congratulations! You did great. Thanks for inspiring this old girl. I loved how you said perfectionism locks up creativity. Appreciate your comments and honesty. ❤
Thank you so much! so happy this resonated with you! sending love
Well done Alexandra...the dress is beautiful and looks stunning on you! Also appreciate the message in your video so much.
I am so happy to hear! Thank you so much for watching!
This dress turned out so beautiful ❤️ do you have a link where to purchase the pattern?
Hi, so if you search Papercut Patterns, Aura Dress on Google, the pattern will come up for sure! x
@@AlexandraBurnett thank you! It did!!!
Beautiful dress. Such a triumph. My motto is always “ I’ll give it a go” . I became a bit obsessed that you didn’t eat all the biscuits. You changed your clothes and there was still one malted milk biscuit in that little bowl on the table. I really wanted that biscuit. X
Yes, to you motto! and yes to your incredible attention to detail. It was so sunny in that corner that my wool wrap cardigan was a bit much. I went upstairs and the only thing I liked was that dress and so I put it on, and completely forgot about the biscuit haha! I get like that with sewing sometimes. Hyper - focus! But anyways, I am rambling, you can 100% have the biscuit!
I needed this. Thank you for the inspiration 🙏🏽
This is such a wonderful video! New to your channel, I have been thinking about learning a hobby like maybe sewing so that is how I found your channel. Love this style of video with uplifting and supportive words! Would love a video discussing how you schedule sewing. I seen some people schedule life and hobbies different ways For example, some use theme days like Saturday- chores and Friday- self-care and Wednesday- work on hobbies. I also seen people divide the day into three or four time blocks like morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Some use a daily planner/list and others just a weekly list or a weekly list with categories. JashiiCorrin on her channel has ideas like a self-care bingo. Maybe some people only need a monthly calendar. There is also the pomodoro timer method. What do you think of these different methods like theme days, daily or weekly lists, hourly schedules, routines, bingo, pomodoro timer or just a calendar? Thanks!
Such a lovely comment! I currently don't have a sewing schedule. I just squeeze sewing in. When I can or I make time for it, in and around life and work. I am not so organised with my life, yet, so I wish I could reply with a fancy organised plan, but at the moment, it's very much about seizing the moment for me, as a working mom, who runs a UA-cam channel, and has not just one hobby, but many, and also aims to have a social life, and stay healthy! haha! XX
I have been sewing for about 6/7 years now.
Tip: don't buy fabric that's too precious or too expensive. Whatever that means for you. I did this and was afraid to cut into it. I have a few fabrics that are in my "stash" for 5 years or more.
This is also a formal apology to my fabrics, stuck in the dark for so long. Sorry precious beauties, I will try to do better.
Oh I love this comment so much!!! I also have fabric that is “too expensive to mess up” and man that’s debilitating!
I also want to apologise to my fabrics and I want to try and do better!!! 💕💕💕
I really needed this right now! One of the hardest things for me when it comes to sewing is cutting into the fabric that first time. This is so inspiring, and your dress is lovely! 🌸
Thank you so much, and I am genuinely so grateful and happy that this resonated with you!!! 💕
Yeah you’re back! I’ve been waiting and love you and your videos as you always bring me joy. Thank you!
Haha! Yes I am, trying to post regularly, and it's always a joy when I do! Thank you for watching!
Amazing! So beautiful. It's so hard not to be a perfectionist, I've been putting off doing a cardigan for my mom because I wanted to make it flawless, but you inspired me to try and enjoy it.
I am sure your mom will love her handmade cardigan by her daughter. Sending love and thank you for watching!
I laughed and can completely empathize with @6:19 "...then that's just anxiety" 😆
My new motto with my sewing the year: if it fails this is an exercise in learning how to be good at being bad at something. I think the older I get the less comfortable I am being "bad" at something because a) perfectionism and b) I am out of practice! So now I am actively trying to be more comfortable being not perfect at things 🙂
Haha! You know it - sometimes the best thing you can do for you anxiety is acknowledging that it's anxiety speaking! Thank you for watching! Wishing you all the best as you get more comfortable being not perfect at things!
Gorgeous! You've inspired me :)
So encouraging to hear! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! x
So happy to see another video like this, love this format and approach yet again. Hoping for all the best for you in the coming week.
Ah so encouraged by this! Thank you so much!!! XXX
I love your videos so much!! ❤ This makes me calm down and smile. Thank you so much 😍
You really encouraged me with this comment! Thank you! It means a lot to me!!! 💕💕
I have both worries about messing up or making the "wrong " thing with my precious fabric. I have lots of it but sometimes can't decide what to do with it. Sewing is a metaphor for life.
Sewing is a metaphor for life - it's soooo true!
Just love your energy..... and your dress!!!! You look fantastic !!!!
Thank you so much!!! So kind!
I really like your fabric choice and the dress is stunning, well done 👍
Thank you so much - I was very much impressed with how well it suited my skin tone!
Hi Alex, I really needed to see this today because my last 4 projects haven’t turned out how I expected ( although not finished) so you’ve given me the motivation to revisit them and not be so precious about them. Cheers, love your channel xxx oh, and love the dress xxxx
Oh girlfriend I have been there!!! It's so disappointing when it happens. Sending love as you revisit them and I hope it goes well. and if it doesn't take the lessons and move on. XXX
I needed to hear this today. I have avoided my sewing room that needs a clear up and organization. Why? Because then I have no excuse to not do the sewing I’m afraid I can’t do perfectly. Thank you for your wisdom.
Sue - wishing you all the best with your cleaning and with your sewing. you deserve to sit in a lovely place and give yourself a chance to do something that brings you joy.
So…… after watching this fun video, I decided to sew a small quilt, I’m sure it will be full of disastrous mistakes, but I’m not quite sure I care anymore. 😉 Your Wonderful “come what may” attitude is infectious. You are very sweet. Thank you for the confidence boost….And the SMILE! ❤
Come what may!!! I love that so much! You’ve worded it so well, and I am holding this to heart in a big season of uncertainty!
I wish all the best with your quilt, I think you’re gonna have fun now you’ve stopped being so precious about it!
Sending love!!! Xxx
I love seeing how genuinely happy you are about something you made ☺️
Thank you - yes, this one was a real joy!
You’re a beautiful soul Alexandra 🤍
Such kind words! Thank you! I appreciate you watching and choosing to comment! Sending love! x
Not me tearing up at your joy at the end😅 btw that colour looks sooo good on you
Haha! I must admit that after posting, I went and watched the video and I got emotional watching me back hahah! which sounds weird - but the JOY was there for sure! Thank you for watching and reading this very weird comment!
@@AlexandraBurnett not at all! I love how much you celebrate and appreciate that moment. An inspiration to all😌
I think sometimes the key is to not be too worried about the fabric, if it’s precious and expensive then mess about and have a go with a cheaper alternative first. Great dress 😊 can’t beat that feeling of accomplishment when it turns out the way you imagined ❤
Yes 100% it takes the pressure off. I bought a more affordable fabric for a top I am keen to make, and honestly I feel so fine about having a go!!! Sending love, thanks for watching!
How cute are you for wearing a gorgeous wrap sweater while working on your wrap dress? Very sweet, whether you consciously chose to wear it or not. As someone who is a perfectionist who loves to consume sewing content and is too afraid to sew, thanks for this video!
i was watching a quilting video & the creator said anything you do is only as hard as you make it & ive been rolling with that! you can dooo it! 🪡
I only noticed it when I was editing! Haha! I love all things wrap as they suit my body type quite well! I am so glad this resonated, thank you so much! xxx
@@gymnastkenzie68 Oh I love this so much!! I am rolling with it too!!!
Hi beautiful awesome work💟💖💟❤💛💖💛💝💛💖❤💞💗💞💖💞💞
Thanks
It turned out beautifully! Love these relaxing videos!
Thank you! I am so glad!
What a beautiful dress and such smart thinking! Congratulations on getting this all together, I really appreciate your time and talent! I’d love to get ahold of that fabric! Keep sewing! 💜
Thank you so much!!! I bought the fabric from someone destashing on Instagram - it's so dreamy!
You have such a calming voice, maybe you should ( as well as. Being a brilliant sewer) narrate audio books or meditation audio books. 🙏☘️💚
Thank you so much!!! I would love to write a book one day, and I will make sure to narrate it!!! But in the mean time if anyone wants to pay me to narrate books, I will for sure take it haha! Putting it out there to anyone who might read this! 🙈😅🥳😇
Absolutely beautiful..you are a great dressmaker...you take the time to work neatly..the result is gorgeous..Jxx 🥀💜🌺👑🇬🇧💐🌼🌻
Such lovely words - that's what I want to be, so I am making the effort to grow in my skill! Thank you!
You are such an inspiration and your dress is amazing! Congratulations!
So kind! Thank you so much!!!
I love the beautiful fabric for your dress. I love sewing and will never be a perfectionist about it! Its my fun hobby and I’m not stressing about it. I have created some amazing outfits but also had some problems with others. I just move on and keep sewing. I like your philosophy on sewing. Thanks for sharing your video!
Thank you - it was the perfect choice I didn't even know it at the time! We have all made beautiful and messy things in our sewing journey, so you're not the only one! Thank you for sharing and watching! XXX
it's beautiful! And you're right about how paralyzing perfectionism can be.
Thank you!
Loving the new style of editing. Sooo calming
thank you - I really enjoy editing like this so this means a lot!
I can SOOOO relate to the fear of getting started!
By the looks of it, there's plenty of us who do here, but wishing you the progress necessary in your mind and soul to get started without too much fear!
Enjoyed the video. Everything I make a quilt, I wonder if it will work. Good for you.
So good to hear! thank you for watching and wishing you all the best in your quilting!
It's beautiful 😍 the skirt's length is my personal preferred
Yes, such a lovely length! Thank you for watching!
You are so beautiful to watch and listen to. You inspire me. The dress is fantastic!!!! 👏👌
So kind! Thank you so much!
So pretty!
Thank you so much!!!! 💕💕💕
Stunning dress and beautiful soothing message to get out of avoidance. The go of it. The trying...beautiful. ❤
Yes! The trying!!!! Thank you so much for watching! 💕💕💕
You have truly inspired and touched my heart for sewing, for my home decorating and tea. I even bought the book The Big Magic. I am a creative sewist playing!!!!❤
Love your videos! And love the dress! Did you sew the white/floral one you’re wearing in the video too? I LOVE it ❤
Thank you so much! Sadly, no I didn’t make it. I bought it when I was pregnant and never really wore it. So this was the first time I wore it, and it’s so gorgeous isn’t it???
Your channel is one of my god preys answers to gide me throw my fear ❤❤❤
WOW! I cannot believe my eyes! Ridiculously encouraging comment - I am so happy to hear! thank you so much for sharing!!!
You're my hero, Alex!
🌈👏🍩☕💐♥️🌈
So kind! Thank you!
What a great video, thank you! Lovely dress!
Thank you so much!!!! Sending love! 💕
this video is like a fresh breath of air. I have an uncontrollable perfectionism while sewing, and it makes me feel bad about my hobby. Thank you for offering your perspective, I feel VERY relieved. By the way, the dress is really beautiful, i added this dress to my summer sewing plans🙃🙃
Such a kind comment! Wishing you all the best with sewing the pattern if / when you get to it! XXX
I really needed this! I struggle with this paralysis so much! The things you said really made sense to help snap me out of it! Thank you! And your dress looks so dreamy! (And dare I say, perfect! How ironic, right?)
This makes me so happy to hear! Thank you so much - it really came out unexpectedly perfect!!!
This was wonderful! And exactly where I am, stuck while looking at my new machine and pattern.
Thanks!
Menina, sending you a gust of courage, you go for it and just focus on having some fun!!! Xxx
@@AlexandraBurnett You are so very right! Thanks so much! Your videos are lovely.
Wow! Congratulations! Love it!
Thank you so much!
I am not a sewer but I love your videos and this dress fits you and the color!!!
This is so kind! If you can think of non sewing videos that you’d like to watch let me know, and maybe I will make a few! X
This has been such a wonderful and motivational series. Through your videos I have restarted a project that I put on hold two months ago. I was very overwhelmed by the task but am now setting a goal of 30 minutes every day to build a practice.
That dress looked so beautiful! Can't wait to see how you hack it!
This made me so happy to read - so so happy! Honestly! thank you for sharing - and I will be taking your wisdom and applying it into my life. 30 minutes is better than nothing! sending love!
The dress turned or beautiful!
Thank you so much! So kind! 💕💕💕
So much to say about this video. First thing I'd like to say is OH MY GOODNESS ALEX YOUR DREDS TURNED OUT SO BEAUTIFULLY ❤️ What master piece. Secondly wow. You are such an inspiration. You are so right. What's the use in having all the patterns and all the fabric and just telling yourself you can't use them incase you don't get it right. Better to try and fail than to never try at all 🤯 I need to take a leaf out of that book for sure. You also made me laugh when you felt like you weren't sure what was going on with that long strip and you were tying it round yourself saying you knew something was up with it. Then as you said later... Trust your gut.
I love your content always but I'm really loving these videos lately. I'm learning about sewing but also about the bigger picture of pushing one's self out of their comfort zone. Thank you for all the lessons ❤❤❤
Oh and I absolutely loved watching you look so pleased with what you'd made 😭 honestly made me a bit emotional. You queen. You looked blooming gorgeous ❤
Demmmmmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! the dress is fire, I highly recommend it! Better to try and fail than never try at all - 100% !!!! From a faithful viewer like yourself, the comment about this video, means SO SO SO MUCH!!!!! Thank you for being such an encourager!!!! I feel like sewing is a metaphor for life, so I feel like it's cool to talk about sewing things that apply to so much more than sewing - that part excites me a lot!!! I must admit, I think I also looked blooming gorgeous hahaha! Sending love Demi! All the love!
It’s lovely. Thank you for the inspiration. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Thank you so much for watching!!!
You are a welcome breath of fresh air (UK compliment); I simply love your presentation style. Your dress is lovely....that back detail is ...whooo
Ah I am familiar with the expression (I am married to a British man, and live in the UK) - thank you!!!!!! So kind! 💕💕💕
This is perfection!!! Congratulations. Please show us your progress with the fabric you originally intended for this dress. I’m excited for you😊
Thank you for watching 💕🌸
Yes, I am so happy with how it came out, and it’s giving me the courage to go for it with my navy linen. I will try to show it on here, even if it’s a short of some photos in the community tab! Xxx
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You were talking about me when you mentioned fear and perfectionism causing paralysis. This has helped me so much. Your dress is fabulous - well done. Best wishes from Lottie in Suffolk, England.
Lottie sending you love in Suffolk! I am so so glad to hear this resonated with you! Thank you for watching and thank you for sharing!💕
Okay just watching your excitement alone at the end of your videos is motivating to me, your happiness is contagious! This is the 2nd video of yours that I’ve watched, I happened upon your channel searching for quilting videos and saw the one you made for your daughter. New sub here and your words of motivation speak to my soul 🙏 thank you ✨
Ah I am so glad you discovered my videos! Hope you enjoy them!!! Xxxp
Wowwww I really am so happy happy happy for you! Thanks for sharing your vulnerability, so much of what you stated resonates with me. I am going to play this video again and again for the joy and encouragement❤ Blessings!
Thank you so much for such kind words and for playing this video often haha! Sending love and all the blessings backX
Oh, I so get this 😜.. I do it all the time. You smashed that dress... It's absolutely gorgeous 🙏💖. You've inspired me to just get on with it... thank you 🥰😘
Thank you, I had such low expectations and I was speechless as how well it came out!!!
You go for it my friend!!! Xxx
Thank you for sharing. You made a beautiful dress. I like your inspiring comments, especially about perfectism locking up creativity, and not letting our fabric see the light of day. Blessings to you.
Thank you so much!!! I am so glad to hear this resonated with you!
I just started watching your video so this might have already been discussed. I always check UA-cam. Often there are sew-along vlogs that walk you through how to construct a garment and I found those to be particularly helpful.
Yes I did that halfway through the project as I was really stuck on the hem of the dress. Thank you for watching. Xxx
Financial security helps a lot with this fear of starting. You can enjoy this fabric and buy more to enjoy differently. If you don't have that freedom, mockups from cheap fabric are your friends. Let your friends know you want old sheets and curtains and tablecloths and clothing that can't be donated. Shop your charity shops for this stuff. You don't even need the fabric to all match in a mockup.
I never thought about it like that, but yes there's a truth to what you're saying regarding financial security! XXX Thank you for watching!
Your videos lately have been resonating with me a lot. I have watched you for a long time, even before pregnancy:) I am also scared to sew because of past failures. I don't know what to say, just that it has been really inspiring. Maybe tomorrow after work I really will sit behind the sewing machine..
I am so happy to hear and oh my Lord, pre-pregnancy videos were sometimes very rough, so thank you for sticking with me!!! I wish you all the best experiences sitting with your sewing machine!
So I had been watching all the big CosTubers for a long time now and somehow I got it in my head that if I don't meticulously hand sew all of my hems or daft a corset pattern from extant garments or be as close to historically accurate as possible or use expensive fabric made of natural fibers then it isn't worth making. I got into a huge sewing slump because I was overthinking all the details to try and be like them. But this year I say screw it! lol I am currently making my Renaissance Faire outfit completely by machine because I am going this weekend haha and it is coming out so well! I haven't sewn in so long that I forgot how far my skills in sewing have come!
I appreciate this video and the message of just going for it. Mistakes made are great lessons and can teach you more than doing everything perfectly
I am so happy to hear that my video resonated with you!!! Mistakes made are great lessons - you are so right! Your outfit sounds so dreamy and I am sure that when you put it on and you go out and have fun in it and you live your life, you won't care so much whether it's stitched by hand or a machine, you'll just enjoy the memories you're making in it!!!
The dress is beautiful! Thanks for the inspirations! I love the part of not holding back and just sewing and not looking for perfection. Thanks again! ❤
Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave such a kind comment! Sending love!
Thank you Alexandra for your words of encouragement! That's what I need to get me away from the fear of making sewing mistakes! I know a little about sewing but need to take the plunge and get into it more completely because I really do love it.
Also, your dress turned out beautifully!!
I am so glad this has helped. Take the plunge, get learning, get growing, and you’ll thank yourself for not waiting any longer. I know that’s how I feel.
Thank you for watching and leaving such encouraging words! 💕💕💕
Thank you so much for the amazing video, but even most so, your kind and thoughtful words. Having a go was really what I needed to hear. Thank you!
Thank you for watching and taking some time to leave such a lovely comment!!! It's so encouraging XXX
I absolutely love the fabric and the dress!!!! Great job my Dear. I love to sew. Love this video 🥰🙏💕
You calling me "My dear" it just so sweet! Thank you so much for watching and wishing you all the joy that you can squeeze from sewing.
Perfect timing for this video, as I am adjusting a dress I made yesterday. It didn’t fit quite right so I am making some changes to the pattern and redoing parts. I was frustrated but now feel more calm and encouraged. Thank you!
Well done for having the patience to do that! I hope it went well and thank you for watching and sharing!
I just found you channel and would like to know where you are from. I’m from South Carolina, USA.
Hi Nancy. I am originally from Romania but I have been living in the UK for 14 years now. So glad my content found you, hope you stick around! XXX
I love everything about this video starting from your voice to the message you are getting out. It truly is a cozy sewing vlog and I'm so glad I clicked on the video. Thankyou for making this x
Ah I am so glad this video found you!!! Xxx
I like your attitude! What’s the point of having your fabric in a cupboard? Better to try and if you make mistakes you learn from them! Your dress turned out gorgeous! ❤️
100% right!!!!
Thank you for watching!!! Xxx
what stops me is I second guess everything. what if I make this, then find a pattern I liked better for that fabric. did I really pick the perfect fabric for this particular pattern. drives me 🤪
I feel like am the queen of second guessing - so I know what you mean!!!!!!
Thank you so much for articulating what I feel so succinctly. I am lucky enough to have a beautiful sewing room all to myself but I am still too afraid to use my stash and have a go and so I procrastinate. I’m going to try now and if I fail then I will learn from my mistakes . X
enjoy the beautiful room, that's the thing of dreams for so many! Wishing you all the best as you try again!
Recovering perfectionist here. Dress looks awesome. I like the sleeves without any elastic.
I shall call myself a recovering perfectionist from now on. I think I like the sleeves without any elastic too!
Thank you for another wonderful video 🧡 love your video with messages 🥰
Thank you for watching Emily!!! Such kind words, I so appreciate them! X
Simply Beautiful.
Thank you so much!
You are right about perfection and having to cut the pattern wrong. Recently I just started to join a sewing classes. I love it to be able to read the patterns and cutting it the way it should be. I am excited! You are so sweet and inspiring me to sew and don’t think too much. Thank you 😀
Yes, once you learn to cut patterns, you're on such a good path! enjoy the sewing lessons. What a treat!
I love this reminder so much! Here's to trusting that whatever we make out of our fabric is their best use. It's beautiful to think of our fabrics as a precious ressource - but not so precious that we are too afraid to make something with it. Let's let our fabrics live their best lives (outside the fabric stash!) - they want to roam around and see the world with us! Much love to you, Alexandra!
