Love Sewing Therapy!! Sewing ASMR. Very relaxing.
Nicole Rudolph channel. She is a dress historian. And Bernadette Banner.
Those two are the gateway to the Costube community. Their content is incredible fore sewing including use of historical materials and techniques and helps a person understand why one thing works better than another.
After those two: Morgan Donner, Abby Cox, Lady Rebecca Fashions, and Costuming Drama.
Early in the pandemic, Costuming Drama did a series of 20 question videos to introduce various Costubers which has a number of others.
Also The Closet Historian...she does really great videos on darts

I actually think viewers should choose sewers with a similar body type as fit is just as important as technique.
I like Tomcat Stitchery and Katrina from lifting pins and needles are helpful for me. Catherine Sews, Thoughtful Creativity, lost my Thread, and Evelyn Wood’s Vintage Sewing are great for technique and inspiration. Everyone seems to have something great to offer. Thanks for your additional suggestions.

TomKat stitchers is one of my favourites for sure. She is an excellent for pattern and fabric resources
I totally agree with looking for sewers the similar body types. I follow many of the channels you mentioned and recently have found The Dahlia Sewciety. She does a great job matching fabrics and patterns!
This is a really good point. I enjoy watching lots of sewing channels but as a fat person, I know most of the stuff they are making would not look remotely similar on my own body. I have yet to find a plus size sewing channel by someone with the same taste in clothes as me. I am very minimal and modest, I don't want to make clown-y costumes or ruffly, lacey, overly fancy stuff.

Excellent recommendations! I would add one more must-follow - The Closet Historian. If you are interested in pattern drafting, her channel is far and away the most detailed and clearest demonstration of drafting. Most of her videos involve drafting and then sewing a garment starting from a sloper, and go deeply into how to manipulate the very basic bodice and skirt into just about any style you want. It’s challenging, fascinating, and very empowering.
I just blindly made a reply without seeing how many others know how great Bianca’s work is. She is the best and yes she does sew over the pins😂

I think Sew Custom is underrated but really helpful for beginner and even experienced sewists. The host, Susan, shows how to construct well-made and professionally done garments.
What is happened to sew custom I haven’t seen a new post for so long. I often wonder about Susan and hope she’s doing well.
It was Sew custom that got me confident enough to really start drafting my own patterns it was a great channel

Karina from Lifting Pins and Needles is an amazing resource, I have ,earned so much from her channel even though I have been sewing for over 50 years. When I am making a garment, one of my preparation steps is to rewatch her video on that particular item. She is inspiring and talented!

For beginner sewing who want expert finishes then tailor nour is by one of the most happening from different neck lines, sleeves,waist lines and sewing hacks that will make sewing so much more easier

I don’t sew clothes anymore since I started quilting, but I do watch Kittenish Behaviour. She’s just so interesting with her sewing.

My Bucolic Life is a terrific channel by Marie, a wonderful teacher, who walks you through her thought process about why she is using a different technique than the pattern instructions. Then she shows how to do it, usually both ways. So many hints and tricks to make the outcome better. @mybucoliclife

What a great list, and all of whom I've run across. (You guys are great too!). How much easier sewing would have been 30 years ago when I was teaching myself (and not very well). There is so much great maker talent (for anything) on UA-cam. Through the power of indexed searching, any problem we have, we can find a talented maker (or other pro for like Excel hacks I need in my offline life) to help.

Great few new makers to watch out for, thank you! Like some others I too recommend WithWendy, she is so calming, inspiring and down to earth. Not super technical info but some great basics, as well as multiple ways to view projects. I think especially modifying other garments into new ones is really essential for this time we are in.

My favourite is the Closet Historian. Bianca has a degree in fashion and the accompanying debt but don’t let that put you off. The woman can design, draught and sew the most exquisite clothing and if you like vintage/space/Victorian you are in for a treat. Then she will make some jewellery or a hat to go with it. Love her work even the futuristic space vintage stuff that I sometimes have trouble understanding (I’m 76). She does all this without ever being cutesy, just an adult who loves fashion and can explain how anyone can have whatever style of clothing they want. The secret is a basic block pattern.

I think it depends on what you are looking for: techniques, fitting, inspiration. For straightforward "how to sew" : Professor Pincushion, and also for pattern drawing system: "Sure Fit Designs" , for patterns and how to fit them: Silhouette Patterns. How to fit commercial patterns: Palmer Pletsch / Martha Alto method applied a.o. by Joy Bernhard who is a very good teacher of she makes ( including quilts) and very entertaining. For pattern - fabric combination " Sew Essential". Simplified sewing principles: "Thoughtful creativity". Once you have your basic pieces: tea, blouse, skirt, pants well fitted, depending on your skills and amount of time you want to spend on the project, you can adapt any pattern to your figure. You can find on UA-cam wearing do's and don'ts for each type of figure.
I also like like to watch "silent" demonstrations of techniques "Atelier Saison" or of transformations like "Lena sewing", "Le Fashion"...

No offense to anyone intended, but a live-stream ‘sew-along’ sounds like a nightmare to me. I chose sewing as hobby partly because I usually *don’t want to chat* with anyone, and I like to go at my own slow pace, whatever I do. So hiking, gardening, crafts, reading . . . things I can do in quiet solitude to renew/recover from things that are more social or hectic. But thank you so much for these videos. Very helpful! ❤️

This is nice, as I'm always looking for new sewing channels. I do follow most of the channels mentioned. .I would be remiss if I did not mention some of my faves:
AnitaByDesign- does great sew-a-longs. Step by Step, very detailed. She also has a online sewing school. Anita was the first one I found that really spoke to beginners
Manecoarse - though she does not do direct sew-a-longs...her sewing techniques, tricks, tips and creations are very inspiring and helps me to think outside of the box
Brittanyjjones- She has a lot of sew-a-longs and she is one who I find very detailed in her directions as well.
MimiG- one of the first ones I followed when I started sewing. It's hard to go wrong with her, especially her earlier videos. She also has an online school- Sew It Academy.
Professor Pincushion- I don't know how I would do what I do without her. If I have a question about anything...I can find the answer and solution in one of her UA-cam videos. This is a great sewing resource.

This is great! I am just getting back into sewing and could really use some tips and tricks as well as learn new skills. Currently I am searching for a sewing machine, but all the reviews are out of the box new reviews, and I want to hear from someone who has had their machine for a couple years and that puts many hours a week on it. I did find Evelyn Wood's Vintage sewing channel and I adore her. I will definitely check out all the others.
It really depends on what you’re looking for
I started out with $100 dollar singer and it did ok. When the kids came along and I was sewing all the clothes except the shoes and socks and all my clothes too. I saved up and invested in a Husqvarna Viking. It was the first computerised machine. My mum had a number of machines over the years her last was a Husqvarna and she loved it
I got my husky in 92 it was expensive but did many hours of hard work and never broke down not once. It still works well.
2017 I was given a gift - the Husqvarna topaz 50 it’s an embroidery machine but I don’t really use the embroidery part
It has many many features but most importantly it’s sews a brilliantly straight line and does really good buttonholes
I don’t think you can go past a Husqvarna and they do a range of machines and prices
The parts are easy to get and if you start getting creative there lots of extras you can buy although again I will admit it far from the cheapest.
There are some good reviews and educational videos of Husqvarna on UA-cam including the Topaz 50
I want to make the point I neither work for Husqvarna and I’m not sponsored by them I just like their machines

Ahhh Katie Makes Stuff is so funny!!
Hi, I really want to leave a tip of another sewing channel that too many people seem to miss. The Closet Historian. This channel shows you how to pattern draft and sew garments from scratch. She is mainly interested in the 1930's, 40's and 50's so she mainly sew dresses and blouses and skirts from that era. Though she has done a full 1880's project and a 1990's project too.
The best thing in my opinion, with this lady is her voice overs and her "ramblings" as she calls them. She will tell small anecdotes and stories while she talks about how and why she chooses to draft a princess seam to the neckline and not to the shoulder or why she chooses to not sew darts in stead in this particular case, while making it very easy to follow what she is doing. And most importantly, at least for me, making it seem like this is something I could make myself using her methods. All the while telling anyone new that she and her sewing machine has a pact drawn in blood that makes it so that she can sew over pins without problems and tell you that you will have to work the same out with your machine yourself (I did with my vintage Husqvarna, and I can sew over pins too and he's never given me any grief about it). I think she is known for her two 1 hour dress videos. One is more ramblingerly than the other, but both good if you want to make one. I hour dress that is.
This Lady can read you the phone book and make you stay and listen all he way to the end, and she genuinely believe that anybody can do what she does, and she doesn't dumb anything down ever. I highly recommend Evelyn Wood. I also watch J Stern Designs, Made to Sew and Threads magazine videos. Bernina Jeff is great for Bernina owners, but also for general use and care of your sewing machine, and his has some great tools and easy fixes for your sewing machines.

Have you seen "" Somnia Romantica"" UA-cam channel. she is 100% the best & only Victorian vintage designer in the world. she sells her unique GOTHIC inspired garments on Etsy or website. Nothing compares to her clothing & pattern making of Victorian fashions 1800's and early 1900's, so check out her videos on here mate, you will love it especially if you like lace , lace and more LACE and BIG massive sleeves of medieval times. i have to give her a mention, as many don't know about her, Be inspired & memorized on her sewing , she also has made a design for the victorian vintage museum as they loved her work and wanted a garment in the museum :)

Thoughtful creativity is the best of all these recommendations. But I'm confused as to why you would recommend a video on sergers. Most of your viewers and the viewers of that channel don't have sergers. In fact most of the home sewing community doesn't have a serger. It's much better recommend Elise's basic pattern drafting tutorials. These work for everyone. And they are so needed because most people don't fit a standard commercial sewing pattern. You need your basic blocks to adapt sewing patterns to fit you.
People who sew use all different kinds of equipment! One of the best things about sewing is that there are so many different ways to achieve the same end result. 😁

BEST ON UA-cam for many years, Christopher Sartorial . channel. 26.3K subscribers. strait to the point, clear instructions, and EVERY comment has successful fittings, professional tailor, easy method's anyone can follow, i give him 10 out of 10*, I never found another as good as him. YOU should check out his videos and actually wear what you make that fits you like a glove :).
