    Living in Korea, seeing the pattern, I instantly thought "Ah, it's a "free size" pattern." Buying clothes in Asia as a South African, is constant trial-and-error. Luckily, maternity-wear here is a similar style to your pattern and lots of pinafores...bonus during the summer's humidity!😅

  • @judyg9889

    It's gorgeous!! I think the skirt fit the bodice because the extra fabric would have been pleated up in the missing pleat; the skirt just would have been fuller. Your mistake with the collar makes me feel better, because I've done those things too often; sometimes, fixable, sometimes not! :) Love the style, including the full shape; I don't think you need to bring it in at all. Please do show us more of the Japanese patterns!

    Looks lovely, I love the Japanese designs. The pleats look fab, I use pleats instead of gathering when I make a ‘baby Doll’ style dress they are so much easier to do and look really good. Yes please do more videos with these patterns, they really are beautiful.

  • @LRWdesign
    @LRWdesign 2 місяці тому +2

    Pleats aren’t bad, you did just fine. 👍 I always mark mine at the top within the seam line. I use an arrow >< for direction and a small mark for where it is to meet. Then you don’t see the marker. I pin if I am making something in which the pleats are sewn down, so I can pin where it needs to stop. Pleating takes a lot of material, but so does gathering. 🫣😬 Your dress looks beautiful. ❤👍

    Hi again, Janelle. 😊 How coincidental is this!! I was so taken by your beautiful dress that I thought I would have a look online to see if I could find the book with your dress in it. I went into Etsy and typed in Japanese sewing patterns and the very first one that came up was the exact same Japanese pattern book!😂 Twenty people already had it in their baskets so I nabbed it straight away. 😁🎉 I'm so excited to make the dress and hopefully some of the other lovely patterns as well. • @krilliam96

    I think the reason the bodice still fit the skirt without that 5th pleat is because to measure how much fabric you need for pleats, you measure then x3 that measurement, so you still ended up with the correct measurement because essentially you didn't have the extra fabric that would have been folded in on itself to make the pleat, if that makes sense. So it was a very happy coincidence, that resulted in a lovely dress being made without too much fuss in making the bodice and skirt fit together!
