I'm 33 years old. My dad got my brother and I into Todd from the day we were born. Among the many greats to choose from, this will always be my fav. The most unique and genius song ever written
I’ve listened to this song many hundreds of times the last 45 years and never tire of it. It is so very relevant still! Possibly his best piece of music of his library of songs. Takes me higher every time I listen to it, wish it went on much longer than just 6 minutes!🤙🏼😎👌🤘🏼
Still my all time favorite Todd song. I was 14 when this came out. I just identified with this so much. Yes,I was terribly misunderstood at that age,but thank God as I look back now. I didn't have a father around, but Todd helped me make sense of the world. I'm forever grateful to him for his little plastic waffles!!
I've loved this man's music since I was a teen. 46 years later...I've just kind of looked him up again..at 61 I am still as in love with this man's music as I was when I was just a young teen. In fact I listen now and i think "damn I had good taste and I was on to something" Lol, but seriously He is a musical genius and I'm so glad I am on this earth the same time he is.
Same for me Vicki and I have all his albums and 45"s also. Discovered him in early teens in the early 70s as well...guess we both had good taste as young adults! Enjoy.
So am I....I was 15 when I knew Todd and his music , now I'm 65 and I still am a fan of him , I saw him 3 times in Belgium Live and it was beautiful....i am probably his biggest Belgium fan , during one of his solo performance , I danced with him and he even let meplay on his guitar....great artist , the wizard and the true and only star.
I just got home from seeing Todd in Kent Ohio. It was unbelievable. He didn't sing this song but I am still blown away. We're seeing Todd again tomorrow night I'm. Mind officially blown. .
A great friend introduced me to Rundgren music in the 1970s. Once that happens you see every musical thing in a different perspective. Truly extraordinary spectrum of ideas, the greatest ever imho
I'm now 68 and first heard this when I was 19 and confused. It really spoke to me and I took great heart in it. I still love listening to it. Todd has an amazing way to connect with everyone emotionally. Such a beautiful song.
Without question, my favorite Todd Rundgren song. I saw Todd perform this live in 1974 and will never forget it. The main chord progression and that wall of sound at the end are magnificent ... profound.
I hear ya, I'm listening to it again ... except now I even more lifted and completely surrounded by clouds. Think I'm gonna put my "Something/Anything?" album on afterwards. 👍🏻💨💨💨🎶🎤🎚🎚🎚🎚
My friend, Evelyn was a big fan of Todd’s music - he soon grasped me, totally, vocally, musically & the production on vinyl - I had to listen to one of his albums as soon as I returned home from work. Todd just came across so emphatically. I’m 69 yrs old now & still drop in & out of his works - doesn’t that stand the time of a great performer, 49 years in; I’d answer my question with an ‘Absolutely!’ Jane Russell
Tension and resolve. This song comes together so well. Thank you, Todd, and thank you, John Miller on the fine spider bass on the last chorus. This song soars....
From what I’ve learned, Todd abhors Social media, but I do hope he realises that us 60+ adored his works in the ‘70’s. I was truly inspired by & adored the key in which he sang. From my 20’s he was IT, Thank you, Todd, I’ve always been enraptured by your beautiful voice God bless. (thanks for upping the track of one of the many Todd albums I’ve got in my collection). J. Russell
Dropping into Todd’s music again on YT. He was beautiful, sang beautifully with a wide view on life, lyrics written with him & his music partner. 49 years on Todd mesmerises me still. Hope your in good health & happiness, Todd, for that’s what you gave me, within your musical structure. Jane Russell
I still have this LP on vinyl! I was so LOST in Todd Rundgren in the '70's and early '80's! I gave him a scrolled original drawing while he was performing on stage at the TCC (Tucson) singing "Rock Love"...never had heard this song before and the friends with me thought he was saying my name, "Rhonda"
Another favorite of mine ! When the chords arrive, after the bizarre intro, it always give me the same feeling as when I see the sun peak over the horizon at dawn, or when the clouds clear and it suddenly sends its rays through. A sense of peacefulness and genuine beauty.
I was introduced to this marvellous musician mid ‘70’s by a good girlfriend of mine, Evelyn, since hearing his magical voice I was instantly struck, key, harmonies & his voice; just magical. I was 20 yrs. old then and 40 odd years later, still entranced. God bless you for ALL your work my 20th Century Mozart. Janet
Todd had such a beautiful voice as well as being a multi-talented musician. This track is absolutely mesmerising. Thank you for taking me thru’ the ‘70’s ‘til now, so poignantly. Jane
Joni was probably the only other artist doing as much at the time with layers and layers of vocals, and Todd and she presaged (and inspired) Prince to raise the bar yet again for singleminded creativity, exploiting all of the tools available to realize their vision, as Todd did so deftly. Of the three genii, Todd is the only one still touring and creating on this plane, sadly
Loved him/his voice, his music, scale & tempos since my friend introduced me to his music 47 years ago. - so thank you, Evelyn, for this beautiful gift. Jane Russell😂
Listen to his live version on his album 'back to the bars': I think it's far superior in sound & rythm; the repetitive 'ta da ta da ta da da da daa.....' gets you going!
Sounds sweeter as the years go by,brilliant.
This mans musical genius is so extremely underrated.

I've tried to ram it into some mange y gals consciousness and failed.

Some plastic waffles DO change the world

@@MrMusicTop40 that's amazing!
Love your comment... Don't you ever learn... 😉
the chilling sequences are beyond the conventions of pop/rock music.

Very lucky my friend to be able to get tickets before they sell out. I'm envious.

It’s been over 50 years since the release of this great Todd Rundgren album masterpiece. Todd must in his 70s now (76 years old, I believe).
Don’t you ever learn.......? Pure genius.
One of the 70s best albums.
This song will never be challenged, long live Todd Rundgren.
Best song ever!!!
I love this song!
This is the most wonderful, most incredible song in the whole universe! It could continue on forever and ever and still sound fresh and marvelous 😄🤙🏼
Blown away by this song
Everytime I listen this marvel, I get a lift up beyond the clouds...

This intro Is like a sunrise 🌅🌄🌅🌄
And the rest of it, especially from 3:40 on, is like an unusually empty afternoon spent alone in the East Village. Beautiful

One of my favorite albums from the 1970's--and still!
Genius!!!!!
I've asked myself this question many times. Countless. I guess
I'm a slow learner. Todd helps tremendously.
Been a fan since The Nazz, 71 now. Multiple TR albumns on ny shortlist, a wizard, a true star

Think about this....when Todd sat down at that piano he was having sooo much fun. He really was. Gotta get that LP's worth of tunes .😄😄😄😄
Another masterpiece. Such a beautiful musician. Thank you , Todd,

Great song.
Just watch a todd vid with him singing this song and watch the faces in the audience light up . That says more than any words .👍💖
Simply genius
This has been slaying me for 50 years!

first figure is the 12 notes of the western scale played and never repeated. all 12 notes arranged and played. i tried it with less thrilling results.
Woke up this morning with this song in my head well here i am true wizard !! Thank you it feels so good.
Always....
Todds best ❤❤❤❤❤
Favourite song 1973

So great song by this great artist ! . . . . . . I LOVE !
The Hand may find you!
Yes it may, through testing and contact tracing.
I have the Todd Rungren music channel app thru Tuin In - love it!

@@kwang6291 Not quite, but a musical genius for sure
Todd lifted a bit from "Love has found a way" by Spirit in this song.
So annoying at first, but then so beautiful! and true.
It's much more annoying during the bridge when the instruments go terribly off key.
I found it so beautiful and true at first and then annoying, to me the intro is the best part
the catharsis in 3:45
Ahead of it’s time.
Musicians creds should be listed.
I’ve always thought that this song had a slightly creepy vibe, the intro definitely does.
I think the correct word is 'mysterious.'

a lust fot today again this morning thanks
Thanks for watch :)

Methinks the parts with the dissonance are indicative of someone f-ing up as they fail to listen and learn, I guess.
That's King Ghidorah @1:03 & @1:16.
Dakers11 is this a special scale or relationship? I hit on both of those points, and both sound odd in key, but not noticed before.
