One of my faves. The older I get the more this song kills me. Sitting here wondering if I took my anti depressant this morning. What a wreck I have made of my life. 61 years old and I sit on the toilet when I get up and think to myself "GOOD JOB!" Not the toilet duty but my life. Well this song was on my mind and it brought a tear to my eye. I never got to see him live because I live in Nova Scotia but if I 'de had my shit together I could have bought a ticket and flown down there to see him.
I was 16 when I heard Todd first time. Todd Rundgrens Utopia and Hermit of Mink Hollow. It was 1978 I guess. And then... That's it. I'm from Finland. I have seen him three times here. My god! Greetings to Kasim. You winked your eye to me😉🥰
Whomever or whatever this song is about, it's obvious that it still holds the same strong meaning to him now as it did in 1974. Absolutely beautiful and further cements it as one of my favorite songs for decades.
I'm human, I stumble ! But I always pick my self back up again... This is my theme song for my mind rehab, for my demons of self destruction that I sometimes fall back into. Very Aprapo lyrics IMVHO, to help my strength to not falter ...TR is one of the Best "Wear your '❤" on your Sleeve, artists America has ever Produced.... Just Sayin
I was lucky enough to be in the front row for this show, and it was close to home! Saw this show 4 times....starting with Akron, OH, This show in PA, Morristown NJ, and Red Bank NJ!!!
I am just getting into "Todd". This is the first time I heard this song. Very interesting and unique. I have Oops Wrong Planet, so I now need to expand. Not sure what to get next, but this is a start.
Buy this from Todd. It's on his brand new DVD at Toddstore. The production value and sound of this performance has been brought up to it's ultimate potential.
I saw Todd and Utopia live in Detroit in 74 as soon as the Todd album was released, and when he played this song it was about a thousand times better than this performance. It was much more serious and like a spiritual cry out to the human race. Not that this version is bad, but it doesn't touch what he did with Utopia in 74. Plus, he was playing guitar, not keyboards. Moogy and Ralph handled that. But the song itself is great and always nice to hear in any form.
Yes, I saw that show in '73 and this song, without having ever heard it before (pre-'Todd' release), was absolutely chill-inducing. I've worshipped at the altar of 'Pet Sounds, and I adore the Beatles, but Todd is #1.
Went to see Todd in Miami a few years back and I swear I felt like I was transported into therapy where he was confronting me about my choice of a narcissistic hb. No drugs were involved in the experience. He was a diagnosed Narcissist. He's dead now. Weird.
Todd is a musical genius, and an excellent lyricist.

I saw him in New Orleans about 7 or 8 years ago. Excellent, worth the trip. I'm your age so get to it.
He's still great. Go soon!
I get it. Peace be to you. ❤
simply one of the best songs ever written!
I’ve been lessening to Todd since 1975. Thanks to my wonderful Brother. We where both in the Army and saw Todd in ElPaso

Such a brilliant musician, singer and songwriter. I grew up listening to his music. ❤
I love this! There is something we get in Todd’s music that always satisfies me very deep in my soul. I can listen over and over.
incredible harmonies (Todd chords!), original, powerful and unique lyrics. Miraculous song
Countless hours spent listening and absorbing Todd in the day...still love his sense of timing and lyrics
Todd captured the feel this song had when recorded, live all these years later! Awesome!
WHAT A BEAUTY SONG TODD !!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH THANK YOU VERY MUCH THANK YOU VERY MUUUUCH 😜❤🙏✌👍
Took me through my teenage years. Todd rules.
Any toddfiles know this song word for word and they have worn out 3 vinyls before cds appeared. CLASSIC TODD RUNDGREN.
Yeah, we of the old school know this one...
They're not "vinyls". They're records. Or vinyl (singular).
Yes yes yes ....
Yep
Sure do👏🏻
Todd is simply amongst the most relevant AMERICAN COMPOSERS. Copland. L Bernstein. Rundgren. Zappa
I like him but your seriously over stating thing…. Hendrix, Campbell, Atkinson, Jerry Reed …
I agree with you but you have to throw in The Ramones.
Such a great song. The version of "Don't You Ever Learn" on his "Back to the Bars" 1978 live album (which is fabulous) is a tour de force, stupendous.
Agreed. I have to hear it every week.
Such a powerful rock ballad! Todd keeps harmony ALIVE !!!
Absolutely LOVE this song..the music is to obsess over again and AGAIN for years to come. Todd is the Greatest of all time💟💟💟💟him

Um, slightly. Mine his early catalog and feel your world change. His genius is incomparable...

Pablo Picasso of Pop is the best descriptor I've ever heard for him...

Went to see Todd in Miami a few years back and I swear I felt like I was transported into therapy where he was confronting me about my choice of a narcissistic hb. No drugs were involved in the experience. He was a diagnosed Narcissist. He's dead now. Weird.
That was a close call.
I agree...Todd has something weird and strange that touches in a profound and often painful way...

One of my all-time favourite Godd songs, slightly butchered, but still great nevertheless.
Is he playing the successor to the RD-600?
I used to have an upgrade addiction that was solved with the RD-600.
After that I quit.

Hell Yeah ! Kasim Sultan !
Don't you ever learn. Not the original1974 version, but near as dam it. Signifies an alternative not yet in place...
