    I am a very lucky man to watch this video before replacing the roller...I was planing to remove the bolts from the bottom plate to replace the bottom roller!!!....I didn't know how dangerous it was...thanks a lot

      Yes, saboor, that is a very dangerous to do without taking tension out of the system. We're very glad that you watched the video first before doing this.

    Just swapped out 10 wheels with 10 high quality nylon rollers. Used the technique in second half of video. I didn't time myself, but it couldn't have taken more than 15 minutes to replace all ten. What a timesaver vs. removing each hinge! Thanks for this GREAT VIDEO!

    This was FANTASTIC! Thank you! I'm going to be going to my grandmother's house tomorrow, and she needs someone to fix one of the rollers, but I have never delt with rollers before. After watching your video though, I've become more confident. THANK YOU!

    Thank you very much for this video - I was able to use your "tricks of the trade" and replace my rollers in about half an hour on both of our garage doors. Much appreciated!

    Outstanding video. Using the method shown in the first half of the video I replaced 10 rollers in less than 30 minutes. The top mounting on my door was a little different than the one in the video, so I used essentially the same method as on the other hinges (except for the bottom of course).

    Thank you DDM for this fine video. The "Tricks of the trade" tip will probably save me a lot of agony. I would not have thought to do that. I hope rollers are my only problem.
    I closed the door a few hours ago and heard all hell breaking loose. The final configuration is that the left rail was torqued (moderately) as one of the rollers seized and caused either sides of the panel to come down at a different rate. Ultimately the whole thing seized 3 feet from the bottom (cont)

    Thanks. Option 2 looks like the way to go. I've got 8 bolts holding each roller, 4 on top and 4 on the bottom. Not having to deal with them should make for a much quicker job.

    • @DDMGarageDoors
      @DDMGarageDoors  4 роки тому

      That's a lot of bolts holding those rollers in, Ron! Usually, its four bolts holding the hinges onto the door, so that's more than what is normally seen. We're glad you found a way that will work for you to get the rollers off and replaced with some new ones!

    I have a 25yr old 2 car garage door that need a little TLC. Your video started off a little ruff but when you did the right side it only took you 3 minutes. Which type of rollers should I buy. Planning to guy them from MENARDS? Any suggestions. THANKS. KEEP up the good videos.

    Nice video, just installed a garage door and I do have the plastic roller but I not sure how close I should have the door to the jam / weather strip or how loose it should be.

    • @DDMGarageDoors
      @DDMGarageDoors  4 роки тому

      Hi thetruth! We would say that your door should be close enough to your jamb/weatherstripping to get a good seal along the sides of your door to not allow any weather or debris to slip in your door through the sides. You can always adjust the door to be able to close that gap and help your seal to do its job properly.

    I was worried about bending out the track and found that I did not have to. With the door all the way up the tension was off the cable. I just unbolted the lower roller bracket and changed the roller. It would help to have someone hold the door up while you are changing the roller, but I did it with no problems by myself. All the others changed easily by unbolting them.

    • @DDMGarageDoors
      @DDMGarageDoors  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Steve! Keeping the door up can best be done with a vise grip on the track to keep it from crashing down on you. That's always a safer way than asking someone to hold the door up while you're working on it. This is a repair that should take safety into the utmost consideration; safety first, then work!

    Hello, I have an old wooden garage and I can't use the open rail method since it's so heavy. I've tried unscrewing the hinges but the nuts won't unscrew all the way since there's no way to grab the other end on the outside door. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Something I learned, you don't have to take all of the screws out of the hinge, just the bottom three and loosen the top and then you can swivel the hinge and the roller will come out of the sleeve.

    • @DDMGarageDoors
      @DDMGarageDoors  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Derek! This is true, although, as we say in the video, you do NOT want to do this with the bottom hinge at all. The bottom fixture that it is attached to should be treated with extreme caution, and thus you do not want to wiggle it or swivel it in order to get that roller out.

    I've had some customers ,"engineers', complain about the track bending method claiming that it weakens the integrity of the steel of the track. of course we know that's not the case. I've tried several ways/methods, but the one that works best for me is, if easy to access, taking off the vertical track , in with the old out with the new.

    • @DDMGarageDoors
      @DDMGarageDoors  4 роки тому

      Hi Sam! No, the integrity of the track is not affected by doing it this way. This is a fine way to complete this replacement.

    No matter how old one is, the correct leverage will still be required.

    • @DDMGarageDoors
      @DDMGarageDoors  4 роки тому

      Absolutely! It's all about getting the proper leverage in order to pry the track open to get the old roller out and the new roller in.
