Standard Bank refutes clients' accounts hacking

  • Standard Bank has sought to allay client fears as it refutes claims by
    some of its customers that they have been hacked, with some claiming
    money has been removed from their accounts.
    Without acknowledging existing online banking glitches, the entity
    confirms that there has been no breach in its system amid a spike in
    month-end transactions.
    Apologising for its delayed response, the bank has also assured
    customers that its systems are secured with multiple mechanisms.

    Thabani Ndwandwe discusses this with Tumisang Ndlovu.

    I thought I was the only 1 having this problem. I have a fraud case open from last year. Still no response . Last month, i had fraud on my debit card and am still awaiting a response from their fraud department. I think im going to be changing banks

    He is a liar. R30 000 was taken out of my family members account. The fraud line hasn't been taking calls. We were trying for over an hour.

    25 000 stolen from us. Standard Bank only gave back half, in spite of them being insured against it

    Slippery slope when you move away from merit as the basis for who you employ. Inevitably the castle will crumble. Contractors called in to solve the problems.....now the contractors have everything! All well getting those degrees and buying R50K suits, doesn't unfortunately make you what you should be.

    Pure lies! They are covering this up, my sisters account had 3k and 13k debited(unauthorized) from her account on Monday. Yet they say there's no breach

    He's talking crap. My daughter has over 11k defrauded yesterday. On flights to Brazil apparently. Took over 2 hours to get through to their fraud line who could not even confirm that she'll get her money back. And why did he not commit to a timeline to do the investigation. They don't bother contacting anyone. This is a PR hatch job. They've been hacked, plain and simple.

      On Sunday, my daughter's account was hacked for R8200 which was declined because her limit is set to R6000. They then succeeded in transferring R1500 out of her account. The culprits are called Dudu Auto Center, located in BRAZIL. What a coincidence.😢

    There is no doubt that this is an inside job. I had 4500 Rands taken last week at 500 rand increments every 10 mins. The reference was Biokort !!!!😮😮

    R21000.00 was stolen out of my personal account and R68000.00 out of my account on the 2nd July. I've supplied statements opened a fraud case and supplied an affidavit from the police as requested by Standard Bank. I still haven't been compensated by Standard Bank.

    16,000 missing from my account on the first of july, i called and complained to the fraud department and it eas refunded on the evening the 3rd of july.few hours after, the money was gone again and till now, they are not taking calls again

    I took an Uber on 2 June but found 12 extra “Uber” charges since then - and Uber confirms it is not their charges. I reported it and for three weeks I only get sms’ stating the case is being investigated - no results!

    Standard bank are vigilant 24/7 365 days a year , and they are good . No problems here for many years .

    Standardbank charges R100 honoring fee if you have insufficient funds in your account. Even R1 too little...Think twice before opening an account with this greedy bank.

    Semantics.
    BREACH : "Any security incident in which unauthorized parties access sensitive or confidential information."
    COMPROMISE :"information that may have been obtained by an unauthorized source at a merchant or through a merchant's processor. "
    Regardless of whatever words std bank has a security problem.
