Another great video!!! I'm an older DJ lol, 57 years old so always looking at portability! I own 2 pairs of the EV Evolve 50's, a Pair of RCF Evox 12's and a pair of JBL PRX 635 three-way loudspeakers. I also own a pair of JBL PRX818 Subs. Each serve their own purposes for me. I host Karaoke four nights a week and for me the EV's are second to none. They are crisp and clear with plenty of low end. Vocals sound amazing coming out of them and never any issues with feedback. I play loud but not too loud because the bar/restaurants I play in are not that large and the crowds are never more than 70 people. I tried the Evox 12's a few times at Karaoke night shortly after I got them and did not like the sound at all. In fact, I don't like the Evox 12's at lower volumes period!!! In my opinion at lower volumes the EV's sound much better than the Evox 12's. Now at Louder volumes and with the Evox 12's spread far apart from each other they are amazing. I agree with what you said, the louder the Evox 12's the better! So, for me at Karaoke nights or smaller weddings at smaller venues it's the EV's all the way. At corporate events or weddings at larger venues the choice will always be the RCF Evox 12's. I also front a Rock/Metal band and for that it's always my JBL PRX 635's paired with the JBL PRX818's. I would never use the column arrays with my band. Maybe the Evox 12's but never the EV's. Also, I have pushed my EV's pretty far and to me they sound incredible even at higher volumes provided they are spread out pretty far from each other. If they are too close to each other at louder volumes it can get a little muddy. Obviously, you don't always have that luxury when you set up at a venue depending on the room.
You seem like the the guy I needed to hear from. I have 1 Evolve 50M for solo musician gigs, and I absolutely adore it. But, it can’t handle the bass frequencies from my favourite stomp box sound at higher volumes and limiter comes on. (Fine with a Cajon sound) I also own 2 JBL PRX635’s & 2 818 subs. My problem is I don’t have a van anymore and can’t fit the JBL system in my car. But it’s too good to sell it! I’m wondering if 2 of the RCF’s would do for a 3 piece band for weddings etc. Would love your opinion!
@@DannyOLearyMusic I think the Evox 12's could easily handle a 3-piece band but again it goes back to my experience with them at lower volumes. I think they are lacking. But if you have them cranked and spread out far apart, they sound amazing and will do the job!!!

I have a 250 person wedding reception coming up and was contemplating between the RCF EVOX 12s and the ELX200 combo you tested in the video. My upcoming 250 person Wedding Reception is the largest I'd ever consider doing. I'm 59 years old and have paralysis from the knees down. I can easily move the J8s and EVOX 12 on a cart but not really comfortable with mounting the point source tops on poles. I can lift the EVOX 12 tops without any problem. Your video helped confirm my leaning towards the EVOX 12s which would meet all of my needs. Keep producing your wonderful videos. Thank you.
Thank for the comment 🙏🏾 I’m finding myself reaching for the RCF combo more these days because of the portability and sound. All the systems are great though and each are advantageous in their own way.
I’ve been a professional singer for close to 20 years now and I have used all kinds of systems. From Mackie 450’s when I first started out, to K Array line arrays like the Evolve and the Evox to my top end system which are my QSC KLA 12’s and subwoofer. When you really need to film up a space with volume and quality sound the latter is what I go to. With respect to the stick system line arrays, both the Evolve 50 and the Evox 12 are more powerful than my K Arrays. I had two for even coverage. After 9 years, one of them went and the price of the parts makes it not worth repairing. I bought an Evolve 50 and I’ll tell you why. The whole point of these stick systems was good quality sound in a lightweight portable pack with a small footprint. Test the Evox by RCF might be better, but it’s 50% more expensive and heavier to the point where the purpose of the stick is defeated. You might as well bring a standard system. Whereas the Evolve is still light enough to make it worth taking and if you get two ($ for $1000 more than the price of on Evox 12 you can get two Evolve 50’s ) you would have great sound that could handle a crowd of 200 easily.
The Evolve 50 had a a really good top end. Add a sub and there you go. The RCF Evox 12 had more bass but I like the Evolve high end better. Finally the ELX200 combo had the biggest sound but the high end wasn't as good as the Evolve. But I would prefer that for hiphop.

Great comparison DJ. Peck. I am sticking with the Evolve 50’s……They are not the most powerful with Bass and I get your concern regarding a crowd size……This is why i have four of them. Don’t forget you can daisy chain them and tell each unit its distance from the next. I am not a professional full time DJ but the one thing nobody can tell me is what sounds good. I play a range of genres…….Heavy metal is probably the hardest music to compare but you know the others.
This is the question I’ve been trying to find the answer for. Is 4 EV50s a viable option compared to lugging around two 18” Subs and 12” tops. I still wouldn’t do a school dance with them but for weddings I think it would be the best option.
@@skyhightechreview I am sure you know that one Evolve 50 is 8 speakers and a Sub so 4 would be 32 speakers and 4 subs. They are really powerful and if spaced out correctly packs quite a wallop. @@cperkins172 I notice even in this video, aside from bass, the EV50 sounds 10x better in the high and mid range than the EVOX or the Point Source. The evolve 50 sounds the worst out of these three setups. But as an owner of evolve 50s I can tell you they sound good if not great in person. This just goes to say the other 2 setups sound prolly even better in real life. As a DJ I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these.
Who would’ve thought? The biggest subwoofer is the best! Physics don’t lie. Honestly the little evolve 50 sounded the best in the treble and vocal range by far to my ears. But I agree with everyone else. We need a 15 inch evolve system from EV!
I currently have 2 pr 915 tops with 2 jbl prx715xlf bottoms. I just bought a set of rcf j8's. Thinking of selling my jbl's and getting the rcf evox 12's or should I just get another set of j8's for a total of 4 for bigger events? I do some school dances and proms, but most of my events are 150 and below
@@lavishlifedjs unfortunately on the first outing with the PRX 915, with cases on they cracked at the corner. I epoxied it back, but they are no where near as study as my PRX 615 were. That incident left a sour taste in my mouth with JBL, and my older JBL's went to hell and back with no issues. Now that they are using polypropylene....no where near as durable plus they clip at lower levels.
I'm so tied to my RCF systems (8004-AS and HD32-A), so when I picked up sets of Evolve 30 and 50 I was skeptical. However, I've been impressed by both (30s are for ceremonies, cocktail, and remote/fills). Still need to get my hands on the Evox, but haven't yet. One tip when doing shootouts - use the same track and timestamps for each speaker. Gives us a clearer comparison. OH! Place them further from the house, too...or aim them away from it. You're potentially introducing comb filtering by having them close to the wall like that. Got my table in - working on building it up right now, but the weight is wild with the Rane One. Looking to reduce. More to come.
Thank you for the comparison on these speakers! I have 2 Evolve 50s and love them. Looking at purchasing more speakers for a future band project. Just trying to avoid the hassle of selling my evolves plus I love them for my solo acoustic shows. Thanks!
hello mate, can i ask ya was you running all the speakers through your yamaha mg06 mixer and if so, what volume level did you have on the back of the rcf evox 12 set at and also the volume levels on the mixer set at aswell to get the best sound out of it. cheers
thanks for the quick reply. yeah im not to sure where the unity is set to either. ive been messing about with my evox j8s and the mg06 and trying different levels. i read somewhere that the rcfs perform better when volume is near turned full. ive put mine at 3 o clock for the back of speaker and also on master on the mixer then channel 5/6 where my dj controller is connected at around 9 o'clock with the option of increasing if and when needed. just thought id ask you your views on your settings so thanks again for the quick response, your gig logs are amazing too by the way. been a fan of them for a while.
First off nice demo but vocals are always a must. (Copy right! Understood.) What I heard though they all sounded excellent. EV's were excellent and hi fi sounding., RCF were killer and stood out, EV were the fullest with great low mids and soft smooth highs. All in all they are different but excellent products in my book. I have the Yamaha NEXO DXS, DXR series and they're killer. Yes they're expensive but if you get that extra 500 people you can push these very high with no distortion and full frequency response.
Hi brother… question… do you tweak your settings in the back of the EVs 18 subs and 12 tops to play with each other in the right frequency? Or you just leave it like that as factory settings? Or what do you do? … you know in the back menu it has that you can program it to give you the right frequency when you play it along with the subs and tops … (I have the EVs 12 elx200 tops but I have the 12 Elx200 bottoms / subs not the 18” … and I tweak my settings like that to play in the right frequency with each other when using the subs… so I was wondering, in this test you did, did you tweak the settings in the back or not? … let me know… thanks 🙏

I hear ya…weight is up there as a factor for me. The Evox 12 is just about at my limits for weight. Good thing is I don’t have to lift them up high…the column section is relatively lightweight and compact.
You might wanna listen to the MAUI 44 G2's, I'm just sayin as I have the same 3 systems you have behind you too plus the MAUI 44 G2 in black and I'm about to order them in white

The evolve 50 sounds the worst out of these three setups. But as an owner of evolve 50s I can tell you they sound good if not great in person. This just goes to say the other 2 setups sound prolly even better in real life. As a DJ I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these.
You hit the nail on the head.
Who would’ve thought?
The biggest subwoofer is the best!
Physics don’t lie. Honestly the little evolve 50 sounded the best in the treble and vocal range by far to my ears. But I agree with everyone else. We need a 15 inch evolve system from EV!
A sub can be added to the Evolve 50's for extra kick :).
Yo great content.Keep doing what you do.Your on your way great expectations my friend nothing but great success and many blessings to you.
Thank you🙏🏾
RCF EVOX 12 if I was in the market for array system.
They sound and look great, packs a punch too with the 15 inch subs
@Lavish Life Events Dj Peck i am a huge RCF fan. I own many of their speakers, so you did very well with your purchase. White looks great.
You got them. Do you love them.

Great video from what I can hear while watching this in my car, the sound got fuller and the bass was more prominent as you moved up in systems.
That is what I heard
I currently have 2 pr 915 tops with 2 jbl prx715xlf bottoms. I just bought a set of rcf j8's. Thinking of selling my jbl's and getting the rcf evox 12's or should I just get another set of j8's for a total of 4 for bigger events? I do some school dances and proms, but most of my events are 150 and below
I would stick with the point source unless you’re having trouble with the weight. A lot more flexibility + probably noticeable more sound.
Love the videos Brutha keep them coming….Saluteeeee
Appreciate it fam 🙏🏾
Thank you for the comparison on these speakers! I have 2 Evolve 50s and love them. Looking at purchasing more speakers for a future band project. In your opinion would 4 total Evolves and 2 additional 18 subs be sufficient opposed to 4 of the 12s and 4 subs? For outdoor gigs. Just trying to avoid the hassle of selling my evolves plus I love them for my solo acoustic shows. Thanks!
Definitely a difficult question but I think the point source is more scalable
hello mate, can i ask ya was you running all the speakers through your yamaha mg06 mixer and if so, what volume level did you have on the back of the rcf evox 12 set at and also the volume levels on the mixer set at aswell to get the best sound out of it. cheers
Yes through the mixer for all 3.
EVOX 12 @ the 12 o’clock position (even though I believe that may not be unity ?)
The mixer volume was at 12
thanks for the quick reply. yeah im not to sure where the unity is set to either. ive been messing about with my evox j8s and the mg06 and trying different levels. i read somewhere that the rcfs perform better when volume is near turned full. ive put mine at 3 o clock for the back of speaker and also on master on the mixer then channel 5/6 where my dj controller is connected at around 9 o'clock with the option of increasing if and when needed. just thought id ask you your views on your settings so thanks again for the quick response, your gig logs are amazing too by the way. been a fan of them for a while.
Facts
Why do the 18’s look smaller than normal? I love that they are. Currently I can only put one of my JBL eon 18’s in my Sorrento.
Just curious are using the 50m and if not what is the difference? Just mixer and one link?
regular 50s...from all the literature that I've read it's just the mixer section
For this setting I had everything at unity
If I use these EV speaker I usually use the app and match the speakers accordingly
The Evox 12 is louder than traditional rcf art 715mk4 ?
Not sure because I’ve never owned the Art 715 MK4.
Wondering how the Bose Pro32/Sub2 would compare? Great video!
Great question. Do you have the Bose ?
@@lavishlifedjs Yes I do. I also have the EV30. Bose has a smoother midrange but EV has crystal clear highs. EV also has the superior App.
You should here the EKX 12 tops with those ELX 18 Subs ( i use it for a live 5 piece band)
Prob sounds amazing
Solid review. Thx
Thanks Mark 🙏🏾
Have you heard the bose L1 32 pro with sub2?
I haven't heard the L1 32 pro yet but I've seen some good things
Add an RCF 708 18" sub to the EVOX 12 system and you'll be surprised. That's the combination I use.
I’m sure that would sound massive !
@@lavishlifedjs It is massive and I got my first noise complaint after I tested it in my townhouse. lol My girlfriend who is deaf could actually feel it.,
I've been in this DJ game since 1983 😲 yes I'm an "old" gee DJ 😂 LOL but anywho after hurting my lower back lifting up heavy ass 15" tops onto speaker poles..I was don't with ever lifting tops onto poles..I watched just about evey video on utube on column arrays for movie djing and it came down to the EV 50's & Evox J8 i went with the 50's and I've had them since they were 1st introduced onto the DJ market, I've looked at the evox 12's but that weight of the sub was a turn off for me..I'm sure the 15's pound really hard, but with my current setup two EV 50's and an EV 12" sub under my table..it covers all my events I DJ 👍🏾 I would luv to have some 15" sun arrays, but my back and vehicle space say no 🤣
I hear ya…weight is up there as a factor for me. The Evox 12 is just about at my limits for weight. Good thing is I don’t have to lift them up high…the column section is relatively lightweight and compact.
RCF👌👌👌👌
🤙🏾
I’ve got the evox 8 and pair those with the Rcf 708 sub, and I also have the elx 12 top/18 sub for the larger events….
I heard good things about the Evox 8
thank you!
No doubt 🙏🏾
So do you think the RCF Evox 12’s are a BIG upgrade from the Evox 8’s… and if so could you elaborate please👍🏽
I don’t have any experience with the EVOX8s (yet) but I’ve heard great things and that they hold their own
More bass and the sound is fuller / wider sound stage...same crisp highs though.
Is the number of people you stated, with one set? Meaning if you buy two evolve 50s would be good for 200?
Yes for one set.
IF YOU PLAY THE RCF ON THE MIC THE BASS SOUNDS MUCH LOUDER AND EVEN BETTER SOUND
🙏🏾🙏🏾
Just hearing it through my cell phone... The EV 50 sounds more fuller 🙂
All 3 sounds great at low volume…it’s what happens when you push them louder
Can 2 evolve 50’s get by with 200-250 ppl outdoor ceromony live band
If just for ceremony I think it will ok
@@lavishlifedjs but if I had to pick one out the three elx would be best ?
@@garciamoses95 yes
great video!!!!!!
Thanks!!
2024 Do you find yourself using the EV 50 more or less than the Evox 12 ?
best channel for DJs!!❤
Appreciate you 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I cracked up on the Porn Hub theme.😂
Lol I can’t unsee that !
You might wanna listen to the MAUI 44 G2's, I'm just sayin as I have the same 3 systems you have behind you too plus the MAUI 44 G2 in black and I'm about to order them in white
I don’t know doubt…heard lots of good things about the 44 G2s
I’ll go check em out…this never ends lol
@@lavishlifedjs But I wouldn't use 44's outside but I will use my EV's outside. These 44 G2's is what EV should've made before LD did.
@@masterpdj2623 why not outside ?
@@lavishlifedjs I think the EV's any EV can standup better outside. I own 6 of the EV 50's and 2 EV 30m's my EV 50's are about 5 years old and they still sound like new but the white pair I use outside has lost that clean white look. No damage just dull looking compared to the ones I only use indoors. Also the way the MAUI goes together I'd be afraid of dust getting in them. Go check them out as your company looks a lot like mines but the look and sound of the 44 G2's is sweet my brother that's why I'm going back for the white pair. I rarely use my box on top speakers and I average between 4 and 5 weddings a week. Like you I love the sound of my 18" subs sound but listen to these 44G2's as they do have that night club BASS.
@@masterpdj2623 have you ever set up 4 EV 50s at once? That is kind of my plan. Use two when it’s ideal but 4 of the room is larger. Would that have the right effect?
I have a bad back and really don’t want to lug around heavy subs. But I’m now considering the Mauis, I just wonder if they are overkill for some events.
Super video the best
Thank you so much 😀
Definitely would love the evox they are so pricy tho! And a the ev top and sub sounds better tbh! I like column pa but they’re just don’t perform that great
Really can’t go wrong with either
They each have their pros and cons
@@lavishlifedjs I considered using 15 inch subs and nxl24 tops
Im loving the ev evolve than the rcf

The original column sound system: RCF Nxl24a over sub8004…lol
I wish I had the budget and the back for that system
50 sounds best!
RCF FOR SURE..crazy expensive tho
Nice
Thank you 🙏🏾
When you say vs, makes it like it's a competition. Which in that case, would be incorrect. The 18, will out bass, the other two. But, you know this.
The 18 inch sounds great.
Wonder why no one Compares the Mackie DLM series? Probably because it eats them alive
instant like for the cowboy hat lol
Lol.. 🤠 Thank you 🙏🏾
Ahhh man... the highs dont seem as crisp on the far right.. i hate that as thats onenim lookong at getting
I would go listen in person if you can
That RFC sounds thin and weak.for the money I'd by the EV array.
This video doesnt do it justice. Each se of speaker offered different advantages…all sounded great
Rcf made in italy while EV made in china period!
