I was only 10 or 11 but I damned sure never forgot this song. Love it. I have to say Thank God for UA-cam. Etc. So many things I would never have seen or heard. They're good for something😂🤘🏼
Love this song. I can still see my brother dancing around our living room to this song the year b4 he died. Sweet memories. RIP Matt....this one's for you 😎💕💕💕
My wife (gf) saw them live at the Cominco Arena Trail BC IN THE 70’s! This is the first time Ive seen this video (2024) and yes, the old boys haven’t changed one bit unlike so many others!💕🇨🇦
I was 11 when the Stampeders were parade marshalls at the Calgary Stampede in 1972. Cowtown is still home to me after all these years. Thanks Rich, Ronnie and Kim for Sweet City Woman!
Oh geez...my favourite song ever. One of my best memories ever...going to visit my relatives in Calgary and my cousin surprised me...she had bought tickets to see them at the Jubilee Auditorium. Also saw them here in Toronto. The date today March 5, 2024. It was meant to be this clip popped up. It will be 20 years ago in 3 days that my dear cousin Marilyn died. 😪 Sometimes things happen for a reason and seeing this clip made me smile and tear up at the same time. Actually everything happens for a reason. 😘 From Toronto
Great song. From '70-'72, while in Highschool in Kentucky, I worked on a 350 acre Dairy Farm. We used to hear"Sweet City Woman loud and clear at 5:00 AM while milking our Holstein Cows." There were 3 of us on a milking shift and we would sing along loudly to the song. Great times, hard work, but a lot of fun with music. We used to hear music on a radio station from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The D.J.'s used to say, "music from the little Red Barns of Indiana!"Fond memories! Thank you Stampeders! Karl Botkin. Long Island New York.
1971-2021 50 years plus later their number 1 hit still sounds great today! The only band I know that used the candy word "Macaroons" in a song! I also loved the way The Stampeders used their old 1971 video performances and slowly go to them currently. Great job!
Today is my brothers anniversary (December 7th).....49 years and I still picture him dancing around the living room to this song the year before he died in a motorcycle accident......he was only 16.....gone too soon. Playing this to honor him. I still miss him 😢💔
I remember as a kid in my dad's restaurant in Blind River, Northern Ontario this song would play on the Juke Box everyday for about 4 months 30X a day. Then in 1979 I invited you guys to play at my high school. You guys did an awesome job. But you played guitar and made it sound like a banjo. HOw did you do that? So many hits!
I was in a bank yesterday, this song comes on and I turn to the older woman behind me and I said: 'High School' songs. She cracked up and nodded....Still an awesome song all these years later. 'she feeds me love and tenderness and macaroons' - love it!
I was only 6 years old when this came out and I heard it on a local classic station the other day and haven't been able to get it out of my head ! This is when music had a lot of meaning and feel good attitude ,Great job .
The epitome of good Canadian music. Canadian music has always been underrated. I am grateful that Canada has The Stampeders, The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive, RUSH, Trooper, Max Webster, April Wine. The list goes on.
One thing for sure is that these guys will forever be immortalized by this fabulous song. That's something that the cruelty of time can never take away from them.
My 12 year old and his pals are learning this song. My son plays banjo and guitar, the band has another guitar player and a 9 year old drummer. Not many bass guitars players in their age group. Song might be awhile. Go Flames Go!
I love to see them having so much fun still playing this feel good song. It makes my heart happy and it’s still a childhood to a much older man now favorite. I will never get tired of listening to this piece of musical history. What a beautiful song of perfection that still stands up through the years. Thank you for posting this. Fun beyond words.
I was 7 years old when I helped Mike to deliver the Leader-Post. The van had the back door opened and this song blasted out. Hope you still remember me Mike from the Ozark Tea Room.
This song takes me back to 8th grade. I was walking down the hall one morning and it was playing. Every time I hear it I walk down that hall!! Thanks for a great song and the memories..
I'm fuckin 29 and heard this for the first time ever in a dive bar in Montana years ago and to this day I introduce it to anyone I crack a beer with. Made many a friend over this tune.
As an 8 year old I remember constantly hearing this song on the radio. It was everywhere and rightfully so. Fantastic vocals, playing and melody. I sang "Sweet Silly Woman" but...I was 8 years old. The only time I've ever seen anyone happier playing a cowbell was watching Will Ferrell on SNL. "I got a fever! Long Live Gene Frenkle!
awesome. my renewed no. 1 song for 2017! great banjo, great band, great percussion. Younger folks should appreciate this tune. if not, oh well. God bless Canada.
OMG! I was prepared for something less than that but boy was I wrong! That was absolutely OUTSTANDING! WOW!! You guys are still super! I'm so glad you guys are still making music. Just fantastic! Thank you for your stellar talent then and now!
I remember watching them play this live in a hockey rink in my hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick in the early seventies. It's still a great and memorable song!

Great job after all these years. You guys sound just like the 1970's and looked like you had a great time recording it. Nice mix of old clips too. Stay well.
O how I miss those days mid 60s to the late 70s we’re the best concerts and music period these kids now days don’t know what they missed at least they can hear. its still not like experiencing it live
This is one of the happiest songs ever recorded and I've loved it from its release way back when in 1971!
This song made me happy back in 71 and still does now in 2022
@ Ken & Richard
Lifts my spirits the second I hear it. Was 15 when it came out.
I was only 10 or 11 but I damned sure never forgot this song. Love it. I have to say Thank God for UA-cam. Etc. So many things I would never have seen or heard. They're good for something😂🤘🏼
Another one of my favorites, gotta play it once a while and enjoy it over again every time. wife and I sing along
I really like this song but can't remember hearing it back then....I was stationed in England with the USAF at the time
Love how they merge the 1971 video with this live version all these years later...fantastic
Love this song. I can still see my brother dancing around our living room to this song the year b4 he died. Sweet memories. RIP Matt....this one's for you 😎💕💕💕

This song was on the charts in 1971.
Closer to 50 yrs.
I think The Stampeders are having more fun playing as Senior Citizens than when they were young man. Gives old guys HOPE.
We badly need hope!!!
We all get old, but can we all still jam like these dudes?
I was 5 first time I heard this. Fav since
❤👏🏽🙏🏽👏🏽❤️
Blame it on the tambourine I humbly played each of them without looking, just jamming ...
🙏🏽✝️🤣✝️🙏🏽
Back then it was their job now it's just for fun

I was 11 when the Stampeders were parade marshalls at the Calgary Stampede in 1972. Cowtown is still home to me after all these years. Thanks Rich, Ronnie and Kim for Sweet City Woman!
With all the negativity in the world these days we especially need to appreciate the people who bring joy into it.
Love me some Stampeders, I remember when it first hit the AM station WHB in Kansas City Missouri
The 70s has got to be the best decade for music. Great music, lyrics, dress, character , style , the lot.
I agree Sam, this era was wonderful. I hope you are doing well
Secon dat!
The best decade for music. It'll be impossible to top the 70's. And as time passes by, these tunes get better and better
except for puffy pirate shirts and the massive collars xD
Except for disco, LOL
One of the favorite feel good songs of my youth growing up in Canada.
R.I.P. to Bassist Ronnie King who passed away this year at age 76.
One of the greatest Canadian songs of all time! Brought back awesome memories, at least the ones I can remember!!

Great...unlike the 1971 video, we get to actually SEE the Banjo Player!
No more banjo-shame!
@@vivelafrance7968 So true! Django Reinhardt's first instrument was the banjo. Please correct me if I am wrong.
