An update: after only about a week, the adhesive on one of the plastic pieces closest to the hatch opening already failed. I've drilled a very small hole under the weather stripping, and I have a short black screw in there that's hidden by the weather stripping holding those pieces in now, and that seems to be working.
I just installed the backseat protectors yesterday. The tether anchor cutouts are now there from the factory.
Window tint. Simplest solution for the "not see in my trunk."
Honestly the MME already has pretty decent tint on the back windows and hatch. You really have to be set on figuring out what is in there with a flashlight shining on it in order to see in.
Do you think the “adhesive” on the back cover will hold up with the summer heat? I’m concerned it will start to soften and melt. Thanks for the informative video.
I think it'll hold, this tape is made for these types of applications. But I'll see!
does the privacy cover not fit into the hooks from Ford on the hatch? rather then fitting those not so pretty pieces of plastic? (visible @9:24)
Good question. Looks to be three problems with this. First, the hooks on the car are the wrong shape to have the shade fit into them. Second, the hooks are attached to the hatch itself, and there isn't enough shade to cover the distance and lift up with the hatch. Third, the shade has a spring so it rolls up when not in the slots, and this would be too much force for the hatch motor to raise up. You'd have to design a way different shade with a much larger surface material, and hooks that fit at the end of it, and probably less tension in the spring.
It comes on the select. I have it one mine it’s part of the comfort and tech package. It doesn’t come with the select w/o the C&T package. I also have one of those as well.

I wish ford would have added this kind to the trunk. Had one in my explorer and my edge. Those seatback covers look great.
They probably didn't add the roller type cover because they are trying to save money any way they can, and the cargo cover included with the car is cheap cheap cheap!

Heat gun to curve it better?
I don't think the curve is the problem, but the plastic material in the cargo area on the Mach-E has a texture which doesn't let it stick well
Heads up. Your experience with the privacy cover not staying in place may have been resolved. Many owners with more recent build dates are reporting the pieces snap together more firmly. Even for those with your experience, a couple of small rubber bands resolves the problem much more elegantly than installing a bar style cover.
I tried the rubber band solution and it still didn't work to keep the cargo cover on for me .... also because it was so soft fabric, it flopped around and made noise all the time. I'm not sure about the reports of the part being redesigned and a better fit, but I'm not interested in buying another Ford cover. I think this was a really poor design by Ford and seemed really cheap. But to each their own, and I'm happy it sounds like the stock cargo cover is working for you!
