I bought this exact gun about 4 months ago. Threw a vortex crossfire 2x7 on that I had laying around. I just sighted it in a couple of days ago. I love this gun more than any of my 22s. Fun to shoot and pretty accurate even for a guy that's a little shaky when shooting.

I have a Savage 9317HMR in full synthetic and it is one of my favorite rifles. Many of my friends love shooting it as well. Speed and it's flat trajectory make this tack driver a favorite. Thanks to this sweet rifle I have filled my cabinets with several bad to the bone Savage rifles. including the stainless all weather in 7mm Remington Magnum.

It's an absolute "tack hammer" from 100 yards. I shot a one inch hole out of the center of the target with 50 rounds. The heavy barrell makes it a heavy gun in the woods though.

I’m sorry but I call bs on that.. i have one myself and have watched some of the best shooters on UA-cam shoot 100 yard groups with it.. 50 round one inch group at 100 yards is an exaggeration

I got one of these a few years back at a gun show, bought and mounted a BSA sweet 17 scope. No complaints. Takes out the logo from a bud can at 50.. biggest issue I've had is cleaning gear..

I hsve a 93R17 GV like the one in the video, with the difference being that mine has the Accu-Trigger. I'm using a Hawke Vantage 3-9X scope on mine, fitted to the rifle with Weaver extra-high Quad-Lock ring mounts. It's a VERY accurate combo.
Ammo is a little pricey compared to .22 LR but worth it to me, as the accuracy is so satisfying.
It's probably my favorite of all the multitude of rifles I've had over the years, It is tremendous fun to shoot.

Our local Walmart got 2 of those in 3 days ago and I was fortunate enough to be there when they put them out. I bought the .17 HMR and almost bought the 22 HMR as well but an older gentleman was wanting it so I just bought the one. Wishing now I would have bought both. Im glad mine came with a wood stock. Which one did you replace it with?

  • @carfvallrightsreservedwith6649

Same model I got awhile back. Shot surprisingly accurate. Ran across a deal on a MDT LSS chassis (1/2 price). During swap noticed "BOYD" was embossed in the barrel channel of the original wood stock. Did not expect that. If not familiar with BOYD stocks look them up. They make beautiful laminated stocks in dozens of colors/configurations for about (or less) than you paid for rifle. Anyway back to topic....., put a BSA SWEET 17 scope on it and standard AR pistol grip/buffer tube and an inexpensive buttstock. RIFLE BASIX makes trigger kits for these (~$100, non-Accutrigger model) Totally transformed the rifle. It will hit cornstalks at 150 yards if I can do my part. Of course now it's a $700 rimfire ($900 if you don't count the chassis discount)

I bought one of these as a package years ago, and you can drive tacks with it. I’ve had a couple of different scopes on it, and it shoots the same with all. I found a Picatinny rail for it (that took some finding, let me tell you), threw on some half decent rings, and I’ve just put a Nikko Sterling Panamax 3-9 X 40 on it, and I don’t envision any issues. Called savage and asked them if I could buy an accutrigger from them and install it. Lady at savage told me it wouldn’t fit. I asked why and why my rifle didn’t come with one. She told me the Walmart rifles are special order rifles from savage and only sold to Walmart in that configuration. She said if I wanted that same rifle with the factory accutrigger then I would have to buy it elsewhere. She said the inside of mine and the others were different enough the trigger wouldn’t fit.

I looked at the same rifle with a different stock at one of my favorite local gun stores and to me the magazine release felt like if I was not careful it was going to break. Does yours feel as cheaply made? Keep in mind this was like six or seven months ago so they might be a little different. I was looking at several different firearms at the time and despite being a wood and metal kind of guy I ended up going with a Ruger Precision Rimfire. To be candid I got it because it seemed so much better made, I love the features and there is just something about the way it looks but I still want the Savage.
