The car's Owner is Chris Lehuede. Chris’s had this car since 2020. Chris shares he like collecting Mopar Muscle Cars that are not usually seen. After doing some research he found this car with the color and options is a 1 of 1.

This Dodge is of the fuselage Era design that so popular and was performed so well by Dodge. Lovely sounding engine burble, without any oil smoke! Chrysler always used that dual belt configuration for their A/C cars
Wonderful smooth idle too, belying all that power hiding! Well presented. Another fine camera operation too, Lou. Thank you for giving us a great car presentation
Hi Joe, My pleasure sharing this one with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Lou I think you have a heart for Chargers, join the club. This Charger is amazing and that exhaust sounds better than newer musclecars.
Randy, you gotta like a Charger from the 60's & early 70's :-)
Lou, this Charger just looks right. Just my opinion, but the '71-'74 Chargers look either fantastic or ordinary depending on trim and options. The color and lack of trim just show off the beautiful lines of this car. Very cool car Lou, you picked another winner!
Hi Tom (and JudyAnn), Happy to share this "Winner" with you :-) Lou
As a kid I remember a black 71 Charger 4sp pistol grip. Even back then I knew it was special. Always wondered what became of car.
Hi Harry, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car you remember :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
What a car!!
:-)
And Lou Costabile Friend I'm glad that this beautiful Dodge Charger was save from the fire too 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪👍👍👍👍
....this one is a Survivor!
Great 71 Charger and black does make her look mean… glad she escaped the fire ! Can’t wait for the rest of his collection..
Hi Richard, Happy to share this "mean" looking car with you :-) Stay tuned for more from Chris' collection, Lou
Well, 1 of 1 is the definition of rare. The interior looks fantastic and I like how those tail lights were designed, too. For those who are seeing this model of car for the first time, this is definitely the one to see! Thanks, Lou!
Happy to share this put together right 1971 Charger with you. You're welcome TheGunfighter45acp!
That taillight panel really is Awesome ! Great, mean looking car ! I Love it.
Very rare car and ultra straight body to be black. Thanks Lou!
Happy to share this "Very rare car" with you :-) You're welcome John!
Very nice Lou! The hits keep coming.
Happy to read you enjoy this one :-)
The best sound ever comes from the anticipation when you start this bad boy up. Thanks.

That Charger is beautiful Lou 👍
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this one Michael :-)
But how great does this 1971 Dodge Charger R/T look with that shiny black paint! This makes all its lines stand out, especially the large divided chrome grille with double headlights and the soft bulging intake of the hood with a slight gray tone next to the letters R/T (special mention for the set of chrome rear guides and inclined in both directions to produce a curious effect!). A simple but quite adequate interior, with rounded recessed gauges and a wooden strip with the Charger R/T logo in chrome and red; plus dual-tone sports seats. That V8 engine sounded tremendous; In fact, when he hit the first acceleration, I was startled! Ha ha. As always, the final walk along those roads was very pleasant. Congratulations to Mr. Lehuede, for taking care of this extraordinary survivor; since we cannot say the same for the approximately 25 Mopars that perished in that fire! As 2023 comes to a close, I wish you a wonderful 2024, Lou, along with all your followers!
Hi Jaime, High praise for the details of this black Charger :-) "when he hit the first acceleration, I was startled!" That's a good sign! Well wishes for 2024 received. Wishing you a GREAT 2024 too, Lou
Looks awesome in black with magnum wheels. The '68-'70 gets all the attention but this one is just as cool. Thanks guys for nice video.
Hi Bruce H., Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Thanks for showing this beautiful car guys. My dad had a 1971 dodge charger 500 with a 440 in it in the mid 1970s . Wish I had it now.
Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) You're welcome Donald the truth seeker.
Beautiful car beautiful memories Lou thanks so much.
Happy to share this car with you :-) You're welcome Leroy.
Beautiful car - and the paint looks awesome. Black paint does not hide any flaws, and that car looks very straight!
Hi RCFred_68, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Just can't beat a Black Charger with Magnum 500 wheels or for that matter your great features! Thanks Lou!
This is a good one for sure. You're welcome Brian SD!
The older square bodied mopars get all the attention, but I like the 71 to 74 Chargers and Roadrunners best.
Great car.
Thank You.
Happy to read you like this design :-) You're welcome.
This is nice looking muscle car, the black beauty!
Hi ACatal2, Happy to read you enjoy this muscle car. Lou
Чудове авто! Дякую!
Hi Сергій, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Nice car Lou. Love it a MOPAR fan. Keep going.
Hi Ollie, Happy to read "Love it a MOPAR fan" :-) Lou
I love Chargers. The story of this car surviving a fire is incredible. It actually reminds me of what happened to my current car. Once I had it parked in an employee parking garage. Long story short a portion of the garage collapsed and a hole opened up approximately 15ft from where my car was parked. All other cars were evacuated from the garage except for mine and another persons car. It took almost 12hrs for them to finally free my car from the garage. They had to make sure that her weight wouldn’t cause any issues to the damaged structure that was very close by. Amazingly my car didn’t even get a scratch on it. Just a case of bad nerves and a heart attack for me.
Hi Stephen Civic#18, Happy to read you enjoy this story :-) You have quite the story with your car! WOW! Lou
Lou Costabile Friend keep up the great work showing this beautiful 71 Dodge Charger R/T 440 muscle car and this gentlemen how his good taste in cars🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😃😃💪💪💪👍👍👍👍
Eric Tate, Friend it's a pleasure to share the cars with you :-)
Chris and Lou have given me even more reason to celebrate Halloween! Great car.
Anthony this one is clearly the "treat" :-)
My sister's roommate bought a 71 Charger, and they drove it to our home to visit. I was given the keys to go gas it up. I drove it over to my friend's house on the way to the gas station. When they saw the car I drove to his house I told them it was my car and my parents bought it for me for a high school graduation present. I had his mother believing it, but my friend knew
I was lying. So I confessed to the truth. The car was a metallic gray with a black interior. I don't know anymore about the car other than it was a cool looking car and I looked cool driving it.
Always fun to be riding around in a cool car :-)
THANKS LOU,CHRIS 🤗 A TRULY UNIQUE CAR, AND STORY 💚💚💚
You're welcome Budget Audiophile Life-long :-)
Hello Lou! That owner has a really rare find! I've seen quite a few 1971 Chargers, but none as fantastic-looking as this! The body panels are so flawless you could see your reflection in it. The really rare black/orange interior goes well with the rest of the car. And it has the regular fixed-headlamp grille (I guess the original owner didn't want to be bothered with the complicated fold-away headlamps that most of the R/T's came with), and of course, the 440 Magnum! It's not nearly as desirable as the 426 Hemi, but it's a wonderful engine nonetheless. That's a Charger to get excited about whenever you see one. It's enough to make you shout "Hey, Charger!" like the people did in those Australian Charger commercials. But of course, those Chargers there were far different cars!
Hello Know Bodies Full! High praise for this 1971 Charger. My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Oh, my! You had me at black, Lou! I just love black cars (and I own such). This is a beautiful car and I always loved the look of these Chargers. During this time, Chrysler had some beautiful mid-sized cars (mainly the two door ones). This is a really amazing car. Once again Lou brings us a diverse collection of vehicles that gives almost everyone a chance to love something he features! Fantastic channel! That engine sounds amazing. You won't get that thrill from one of those new golf carts that are robbing your wallet at point of purchase!
Hi ultraviolet tp, Happy to share this black "really amazing car" with you :-) I appreciate reading your comments, Lou
Lou, I forgot to wish you and your family a Happy New Year! I do so now!@@loucostabile
Nice and throaty and that paint is flawless. That car wanted to keep accelerating. You can get in trouble with that ha ha. Great video Lou
Hi Keith, Happy to share "Nice and throaty and that paint is flawless" car with you :-) Appreciate the kind words on the video, Lou
Fabulous.
High praise.
Nice powerful Mopar.
Just the way we like it :-)
This charger is really organic.....
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
Fabulous fuselage Charger Lou!
Happy to read you enjoy this one Deacon Blue!
This car certainly does look great in all black. Back in the 70s I had no appreciation for this car at all, but do now
Hi danam0228, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
My dream car
NICE!
Hey thanks for the great video I'm old timer my friend Marge is 70 years old has a 71 Charger RT had it since 73 it's a 440 4 speed pistol grip car with a Sure Grip no counsel bulge Hood black with dark blue interior how weird is that bucket seats do exhaust no she'll never sell it have a great day love 71 charges
Hi Gilbert, Happy to read Marge has a great car! Would love to meet her sometime and do a video with her and her car. If you see me at a car show, come and say hello. Lou
Cool ride still faster than most cars on the road today, it has the passing power because of the big engine, something small motors don't have.
Happy to share this "Cool ride" with you :-)
This car looks and sounds awesome. The owner talked about the "phone" in the beginning of the story. You showed it when you were doing the interior. That part of the story was very unique. I wish you would have asked questions to further explain that part of the story. Other than that great episode.
"Other than that great episode."....so close :-)
Goodday Lou,
Beautiful, black & chrome always looks awesome.
Cheers
Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 🇺🇸
Goodday Louis, Happy to share this good looking car with you :-) Cheers. Thanks for being my # 1 Fan in Australia, Lou
I had a 71 Charger Super Bee 383 automatic hemi orange black vinyl top black stripes and I wish I would never got rid of that.Sometimes I dream about me driving it even though it's been quite a few years since I sold it
Hi Joseph, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I don't know a lot about a 1971 Dodge Charger, but I'm here watching as Lou's videos are always so informative. I know I'm going to learn something and for 12:09 minutes I'm going to be entertained. Here goes: Side view was great and that killer sound from the engine! I have never heard of Halloween interior! Love that. Nice dash too. At idle the sound was intoxicating!!! Thanks, Lou.
Happy to read you are entertained and learned something from this video too. My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome Brian.
71 charger 440 what a beautiful beast,that grill,those wheels,pure art!.god bless the american power,happy 2024 and the best wishes for you lou!
Hi lobo gtx, Happy to share this "beautiful beast" with you :-) Thank you for the well wishes. Wishing you well too, Lou
The 1966 Charger was the first one, and they kept getting more popular every year for many years. If you show any car, it should be this one, regardless of whether it is rare or not! Thank you for going all the way to Oregon to film this one. I'm guessing they must have crushed a few!
Hi Jed, Happy to share this car from Oregon with you. You're welcome, Lou
The Charger was never popular at all until the 68' model year.
I loved this car. It was my baby. Top speed 130, I didn't like the road. White Vinal top w\blue. Pict coming soon. Beale AFB.
Happy to read "I loved this car" :-)
what another wonderful find Lou!To be sitting in that passenger seat would be the highlite of my day.The side view plus those two slits on the door give me the image of a shark prowling the streets.Thank You.
Hi keeff, Happy to share this "shark prowling the street" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
These are the best looking of this generation of Charger, with those smaller, angled, quarter windows.
When Chrysler built a black car, the factory took care to select the straightest body panels on hand, when assembling it.
Hi Dan, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this generation :-) Lou
mean machine. 👾
I agree :-)
I was a Pony Car guy. Driving these Muscle Cars to me was driving the Titanic on Jet Engines! Really fast, but horribly unyieldly and couldn't stop just as badly. My '72 AMX/Javelin could dance cicles around that behemoth one trick pony.
Hi Island Don, Thanks for viewing and sharing. Happy to read you have a cool AMX too :-) Lou
@@loucostabile
I bought a new 1969 Lime Gold Mach 1, 428cj in '70.
It ran to 60 in just under 6 sec. But that dog couldn't turn or stop. So, in '72, I traded it for that new AMC. That year they came out with the Buyer Protection Plan which broke the universally held 1yr/12,000mi warranty because of the higher level of quality. It was no lie! I traded it for a new '86 Mustang GT, (the first EFI). I kept that AMX 401 C.I.D. for 175+K miles.
It was the most durable car I ever owned. My all time favorite however, was a 72 Lotus Europa. I'm a handling over speed kinda guy. My retirement will be another, new Miata soft top.
Perfect for this guy with room for my girl and myself ONLY. No kids, no grandkids...
🤭
I had a 72 Charger Ralley that was 1 of 1. It was the same as the 71 RT other than the hood didn't have the vent on it and the doors had 5 horizontal indentations instead of the 2 vertical vent slits. The Ralley replaced the RT for 72 and the 71 RT and the 72 Ralley used the same taillights and they were different from other 71-72 Chargers and are hard to find and expensive to buy when you do find them.
Hi Todd, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Hi Good Russian, I'm good when I'm around cars. Happy New Year to you and your family too. Stay tuned I'll have some fun cars for you to enjoy, Lou
Love that car what else can I say
Happy to read "Love that car what else can I say" :-)
I have been a fan of vintage cars before they were vintage and have owned muscle in the mid 70s after getting my Lic, but still can't match my current 17' Camaro Super Sport with 6 speed manual in speed, drivability and fun factor.
You have a good one for sure. Technology has advanced and the new ones are FUN too. At the same time, gotta love the time travel back to a great older car too.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is a California only car because it does not have the famous machine gun exhaust tips protruding from the rear valance. That makes it more of a 1of 1 car built for one State.

Like the Charger. Beautiful 🤩 Great sounds. In Oregon lot of salt up there. What was the car’s origin. Was there any restoration before saved from the fire. Thank you Lou! Great Job as always.
💯👊👍
Hi Terry, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) I think this car only sees sunny days. You're welcome, Lou
Very nice Charger - I always thought that this generation of Charger was under appreciated.
Thanks for bringing this classic R/T to us Lou!
Hi Jeff, Happy to read you enjoy this Charger :-) I agree, this generation was not as appreciate as the one before. You're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile It is interesting how some generations click and others languish (even if they are similarly competent, stylish etc). Impact of the economy and demographics I guess.
Looks just like the car in burn notice!

But its not a 4 speed manual.
automatic.
What would have saved those cars??
If people were driving them and not hoarding them. Don't but baby in the corner show them off
...actually, I think we don't see them because people were driving them, and not hoarding them and used most of them all up.
