    the demonstration of seat height together with the information regarding your height etc is very relevant and useful for someone like me particularly, i don't know why bikes have now such high seat heights, one size does not fit all for sure

      Doesn't help someone like me as much. I'm 6'4 and I've been struggling to find a bike that I fit on comfortably, especially in this price range and licence approved (Australian learner and provisional licence I believe is similar to the A2 in UK)
      Thus far, only the trk502x seems to fit me comfortably enough. But Mark does exceptionally well in reviewing bike characteristics and road mannerisms, and is helping me lean toward a trk502x in the near future.

    Hi Mark, great review as always. You are spot on when you describe the engine as being "Turbine Smooth" I bought a TRK 502 in the spring and it has the same engine. If at all possible, the engine has become even better with a few miles on it. I can only describe the experience of riding on mine as like being whisked along on a flying carpet. Benelli is a really serious contender in this segment and they have an excellent product.

      @@markpulling12 I've been looking at the Imperiale 400 "Classic/retro" bike to add to my TRK . I think the combination of looks, pedigree and price point make it a very good option for me as a returning biker, learning again.

      @@speedfinder1 I have that combination of bikes, I have a TRk502 & and Imperiale 400, the Imperiale knocks the socks of a Bullet, and, is more aesthetically pleasing than the Meteor. I've been that impressed by my 2 Benelli's, I'm considering getting a Leoncino as a replacement for my Interceptor, not fully decided yet though.

    • @speedfinder1
      @speedfinder1 2 роки тому

      @@tonysmih4796 Its nice to know that I'm not the only one who thinks both of these bikes are good options. The Imperiale is definitely, 1950s riding without the oil leaks. The 502 is comfortable touring without the faff of all the gizmos! (I'm itching to try mine in Europe when we are safe again.) Both bikes are super value and seem to be well made. I have read that the reliability of the TRK 502 has convinced the Italian Police to use them as Municipal Police bikes. I haven't ridden an interceptor, but I think in terms of quality, the Leoncino is a better made thing! (The only better bit of the 650, perhaps is the engine sound, if that is a bonus.....)

    Great review of a great bike. I have the non trail version of this bike. I've had it for almost 2 years, ride all year round, both to work and on my days off. Great torque on the engine, comfortable and lovely to ride. The only niggle I have is there are a few bolts that are starting to rust, but she's kept in garage when not in use. Many thanks for a great review. I once got asked my a gentleman how my peugot bike was doing as he saw the lion on the front mudguard!! 🤣 Keep up the good work!

    Hey Mark. Commented on your recent review of the new CB500X. Came across this review by chance. Interesting bike. Would really appreciate your thoughts on a back to back comparison with the 2022 X. Most people would walk past the Leoncino Trail to get to the Honda, but I'm wondering, with a few tweaks, whether the Bennelli could actualy be the better bike for the type of riding (commuting, sunday blasts, occasional 'short-hop' touring, easy gravel roads) that your typical X owner would do?
    Can't test the bikes side by side at the moment since no one seems to have the new X on demo, near me.

    I'm seriously intrigued by how you say the engine is so smooth. 360Deg Cranks were previously the configuration espoused by Edward Turner on the British twins of the 40's onwards. As I'm sure we all know they were renowned for vibration. They do have the advantage of an even firing order (unlike the Japanese 180 deg twins) which might explain the torque and what you describe as a smooth sound. I can only assume they have some serious balancer shafts to soak up the inherent vibration. Shame Edward Turner didn't do the same. Anyway, and interesting choice by Benelli when pretty much everyone else has gone 270 deg for that V-Twin sound.
    I've seen a few around (probably the road version) and my one word adjective to describe them would be "chunky" Quite a distinctive look.

    I like the road version better because it has tubeless tyres. It is slightly lower, too. Someone I know in Chiang Rai has one and says it is incredible, and he's an experienced rider. Very tractable and totally reliable, and he puts miles on it. Secondhand prices are low, so if you buy new you'll lose later. There is a Benelli dealer in the centre of the city. Rather tempting.

    It has a lovely design, looks very nice to me. Besides the hight of seat is has a good bench and a very good riding position. Good leg angles no weight on the hands, no stretch of neck etc. GREAT. I wouldn´t consider the Tourance tyres as nobby :) Due to EU regulations, noise emissions, all modern Enduro tyres have street handling qualities and maybe little "offroad" design left over. In total a bike I would consider to buy. But I would feel even more comfortable if the "Chinese" would prove and confirm the ability to provide spare parts in time and for long period for reasonable price :)

    Leoncino owner here since March of last year. Bike is good in terms of power but some issues are there 1) Engine cuts off sometimes when downshifting coming from high RPM or going down hill 2) switches fail sometimes, may be due to moisture going in and rusting the contacts, pressing the buttons again will resolve. WD40 may prevent this in the future. 3) had an instance where the digital display cluster broke, its like when a calculator screen breaks and only portions of the numbers are showing? ganun. good thing is bumalik din, my theory is again moisture kasi i have been riding this thing in the rain of washing it 4) Rust, rust, rust. The frame is mostly steel not an alloy to save cost. and you will notice rust forming in some expose areas soon. There is an area where the rear brake line rubbed against the swingarm and exposing metal and it rusted. Had to sand the part and repaint it to prevent it from rusting further. the rear view mirrors are also rusted and paint starting from the thread are already bubbling up due to rust 5) aluminum corrosion, not sure what type of aluminum they are using but it is certainly low grade. Foot pegs both the rider and the passenger are already showing signs of corrosion same with the brake master cylinder and some aluminum parts. I am concerned about engine parts as it is too aluminum. 6) Chain, the chain rusts very quickly, I am very particular in my maintenance but still could not prevent it. Maybe i just need to replace it with a better one 6) Brake discs rust very quickly too, some of it went to the fork stanchions which i had to clean quickly so the stanchions dont rust.
    All in all, if i had to go back in time I would not buy this bike. Good looking for sure and engine is very capable, sadly the parts around it are not up to par with other makers. You will be best served by buying something like the XSR 700 for not a whole lot more money.

      I think the positioning of the rear number plate, and how it's mounted is mainly down to current regulations rather than a trend. I'm with you on the short mudguard though, as you'll get all crap thrown onto the front of the engine, especially in iffy weather.
