I have been subscribed about a week now and I have to say your moto-vlogs are some of the best I have seen on You Tube. I read somewhere recently that the Chinese government told all manufacturers they had to vastly improve the quality and workmanship of their products or face the wrath of being forced out of business. In the last 10 years we have gone from copy cat vehicles to some of the most amazing tech and vehicles on the planet. They really have come on in leaps and bounds. I have always thought of Benelli as having the ideas of potentially amazing machines but never really hit the mark of the Japanese or European bikes. This Leoncino looks amazing and very well built. It might be🏍 a good idea Mark, to suss out an owner of some of these machines you test, and get some real world data and info on long term results. I mean, most machines look great factory fresh. It's only when they've been used for a few thousand miles/kilometres can we really know how good they actually are. Just an idea to boost the channel perhaps......🏍🏍🏍
Thanks once again for an excellent video, Mark. I've been waiting for ages for someone to do a test ride on this bike. It looks and sounds great and seems to handle very nicely. The price is simply excellent as well.
Picked up a 500 Leoncino Trail 2 days ago. Loving it so far, still breaking it in so I haven’t wound it out yet, but it’s certainly quick enough for the street
Good decision! I have one too and I absolutely love it. It's also been 100% fault free in 5K miles. You'll find the gear change and engine frees up beautifully around 2-3K miles.
@@dannythinko I put about 300 miles on it this weekend. Only complaints are finding neutral is to easy. Often it can be hard to find, not on this bike though lol. Also had some weird mis-shifts into 5th, only happened twice though and hasn’t happened since. Other then the shifter being a tad sloppy, I don’t have any complaints. It’s also not the worst shifter I’ve ridden either. Drove 100ish miles in the pouring rain and it did good in that regard
@@1990-t1j just got rid of it a couple of weeks ago, almost 7500 problem free miles on it. I bought a Z900 this spring and didn’t ride it much. While I didn’t abuse it, I didn’t ride it easy either and it held up phenomenally well
A video showing the dimensions of the Leoncino 500 and 500 Trail next to the Leoncino 800 and 800 Trail could be very interesting. Thanks for a nice video 👍🏻👍🏻 Really nice bike
Great review Mark. I do think Benelli naming the bike “Trail” is a bit misleading. That front fender would allow everything to get back into the radiator and pipes. No protection or even a fake bash plate. Maybe they offer accessories to fix that? Otherwise a nice looking street bike that should avoid gravel roads.
Yes agreed....I think these scrambler/trail bikes are more about image etc and wannabe Steve McQueen's!!! They do make great road bikes though Cheers mark
Thank you for a great review. I just got mine delivered in Pakistan. It's a pity Benelli has not used Marzocchi forks and Brembo brakes for cost savings opposed to what was initially shown at EICMA etc. The bike otherwise feels very nimble and has a very smooth power delivery.
Did you import or buy from a local source? If so, which city - Islamabad? Interested in this bike myself but didn’t know it was available in country. I was considering a Leoncelo before but noticed that the Trail spec wasn’t cable in Pakistan. This would be a much better option!
Great commentary Mark.. you know what... I really love the look of this bike, the colour and styling are great, Benelli really know how to design a bike.. I just would like Benelli to get the weight down on their bikes, power to weight is always heavier than the competition, also what are Benelli like on price for parts?.. anyway still love the bike.. thanks again Mark.
Hi Vince ...I'm sure the parts are not too expensive like say a bmw ...plus you could always use other makes for consumables like chain sprockets brake pads etc cheers mark
I have a Leoncinio 500 Trail; thankfully nothing has ever gone wrong so I haven't needed parts! But I have looked into spare part prices and they are a bargain compared with other manufacturers. No concerns.
Well, I'm Sold! Suspension adjustment and pannier options might be the only issue. That's a good looking bike, and a good review. Satin Black and Green... Nice. I'll wait for a few long term reviews. Cheers.
Handsome bike, especially in this green, but I bet it depreciates badly. Benellis are very reliable, although it needs too much servicing. 4,500 rpm at 60 mph in top is undergeared compared to the NC750 which would be doing 3,000 rpm. Unusual rev counter that runs two ways. The exhaust note sounds good. I'd rather like this Benelli, but a better idea is the NC DCT. I'll be keeping the 390 as a second bike, whatever. The usual excellent, thorough review.
Depreciation can be a good thing for a lot of people. I´d just wait 1-2 years and save a few thousand € on basically a brand new bike. Already spotted some with only 1-2000km on the clock for 2000€ less than msrp
Just back from Motorcycle livr and saw this there and thought I looked brilliant and it's as cheap as chips, and the road version, 752s looks equally good. Great review thanks. I'm very interested in one of these as a 2nd bike.
Yeah , handsome bike . As usual good value for money and is entirely designed here in Italy (apart from the engine). I do love the high exhaust and wish they had done high one for the 500 Trail as well . Sounds fantastic! Great review as always , thanks Mark 👍👍👍

It is a lovely bike BUT on the second loan I had to drive through some very wet weather and am disappointed to report that the rear mudguard is absolutely useless. I had mud all over my back and if I had a pillion heaven knows how they would have faired. Don't get me wrong it is really fun to ride but the crap that was thrown up is, in my view unacceptable. Interesting review Mark. I would comment that looking back at your youtube channel, I've noticed that you only ever say good things about the bikes you ride. You don't really review the bike as much as give a display of the positive features, an advert if you will, to someone looking to buy a new bike. I had a Benelli TRK 502 similar to the bike you reviewed a while ago. I'll admit right here that the price is VERY cheap compared to the competition. What you failed to mention anywhere in your review, is that the TRK 502 with 235 kilos all up and only 46 BHP makes for a bike that you have to rev the conrods out of the engine, to get past lorries on the motorway. You really have to plan your overtakes and take a run up once you have a bit of touring luggage aboard! There is no way you could say that the bike was a long distance tourer. 250 miles on one and unless you have a muscular physique, you are pretty tired. Also, breaking from even 70 mph is a pretty fraught affair due to the mass involved. The 800 lioncino on the face of it looks like a "Scrambler" style bike, but a long day riding that over rough terrain would be pretty exhausting due to its weight again. Please could we have a more balanced reivew of the bikes you ride in future as the current style isn't very impartial. No need to be negative about any of the bikes, but a "Pros and Cons" section in the review would make it seem less like an advert for the particular bike involved.

I think it looks really good, but a Yamaha XSR700 is nearly the same cost, 30kgs lighter and probably a better all round machine if you want a stylish naked bike. Good review Mark, many thanks
Agreed but I think it's relative...7700 on this maybe get back 4000 in three years 10 k miles maybe ? New BMW £16000 get back £12000 in three years...I'm not sure just surmising :) Best wishes mark :)
Thank you! Is this motor not as good as the cp2 from Yamaha? Which one is faster or has better acceleration? And last question: does the Benelli sound as good as the fantic caballero 700?
@@markpulling12 Thanks for the fast reply! I have an option to buy one for 6000€, seems like a good deal. I am mainly looking for an adventure or touring bike, but this could also work I guess...
Good looking bike, looks a bargain compared to other scramblers like Caballero 700 or Morini SCR, have you tried Mark? , slightly heavier than I wanted but not bad, does weight feel nice n low in bike? quite short service intervals, good looking, still tempted by a lighter Yam XSR700 tho or Ducati Scrambler 🤔
Nice review Mark good looking bike. I’ve noticed on a few recent reviews that the mirrors look exactly the same as the standard BMW ones, not sure if up close they’re the same but to do look very similar. I suppose many bike parts are made in big Chinese factories and sold to different companies, I believe stands are all made in the same place for every brand.
As Mark says, designed in Italy, built in China. I have the 500 version, which I adore: I was sceptical about Chinese build but decided to take the plunge; really glad I did. It's well built, well finished, and not one thing has gone wrong, in 5K miles it's been perfect. I also think Benellis still 'feel' Italian with a great sense of style, despite where they are built.
Hi, really nice bike and the color ,I think if the wheels , matched the gold forks it could be the🐶nuts .£ for £ enough power to keep one happy for running around on .Nice to see Poole town is still there and thought a trip through the park , doing a wheelie over the speed bumps , may be not ? . Thanks for the video, stay safe . Nice review .😋
Obviously loads more power and torque ,more than I was expecting, no fairing to speak of so it's generally a naked street bike more than a tourer great fun though! Cheers mark
I think it's partly to do with the increase in cat and exhaust stuff due to emission regs; they try and stick all of that underneath where the centre stand would go. Must be a way to solve that though and still have a centre stand?
Just watched this again, Mark. I don't know whether this is available here. If it is, it will be cheap. Does it have as much low-down shove as the NC750X?
@@markpulling12 Thanks for that. The NC is beginning to sound like my bike. The storage unit in the dummy tank would be so useful. The low c of g, ther DCT, the economy. Regards, Nick
Ahh but would you buy one Mark? I had a 752s same get up really. Loved it. When I came to sell it, no dealer wanted it. Paid 6.5K had it 6 months was pleased to trade at 3K in the end. The dealers don't want these returned and uk folk seem wary to buy these even with warranty. It holds the equity, as low. These larger Benelli bikes are good and the motors being made in china are reliable with globalisation. Frames and suspension are top spec. Mine gave 55mpg. Lovely engine note and just right grunt for the road. Mine had Brembro brakes Marzoki 54mm forks, look similar. Stopped, handled and went well. 752s had stickier Perrelli road tyres guess the Leon road will be similar. So, would you actually buy one Mark and what is your thought on slow uptake? Good review. You do get to ride many bikes and therefore are in a good position to compare. Maybe at the end of a video if you gave your personal thoughts it would ad interest without bias. Only a suggestion.
Hi yes I'd definitely have one ...I've had quite a few Chinese bikes ..they are well made and reliable if you look after them ...I had a Benelli trk 502 for 3000 miles no problems at all .. luckily I got a good trade in on it from my local dealer best wishes mark
Nice review. I think the bike is beautifull. Only thing is, because it has the word trail in it, that sticking out oilfilter (just like a Suzuki Vstrom), wich I think it will be destroyed when you actually go offroad with it. Perhaps a strong skidplate, some handquards and yes a radiatorprotector wich was mentoined before.
@@markpulling12 Still leaning towards an Enfield but delayed visit to garage due to lack of motorbike chain. Was going for the Oxford HD £40 one...just a deterrent... Any suggestions? I want something under 5kg n robust enough just to stop liftage (am only gonna chain the bike up for 5 mins etc) e.g if stop for a tea at a pub n need a pee etc
@@markpulling12 I saw some video from china review it in the dark and it have illuminated handle bar (hard to see on daylight). You should double check. I'm owning an TRK502 2021 and it have exactly same setup except for additional button for the screen control.
Sorry Mark but only 2 mins in and,, Well look at the coolant hoses hanging off the side ,,they look terrible.. The same can be said for the exhaust at the back end,I,m sure more thought could have gone into those..Ok I,ll keep watching now I,v got that of my chest..
I like it... but the 500 is prettier. And while not many people are going to use it off-road very much, it's looks like it would be a capable "trail" bike (smooth-ish dirt roads) and I could see myself using it like that if needed. So there should be some standard engine and radiator protection? To buy those things in the aftermarket is expensive relative to the cost of the bike, if they are even available, but would add very little to the cost of the bike if standard equipment.
500 Trail is surprisingly capable offroad. I’ve been using mine like a proper scrambler, 50/50 on- and off-road, and it has never let me down. Obviously, it’s not meant for jumping or heavy terrain, but as a scrambler, it just does the job.
Funny you should say that Mark as I’ve just spoken to MotoGB the importer, and they’ve pretty much said the same, with the next batch arriving in January 2024.
I wouldn't bother guv. This thing ere is absolutely awful. General build quality looks excellent does it? Not from this video. It is utter rubbish. And that TFT is just so $50.00 all day long. Who buys these things????? @@markpulling12
Great looking bike! I live in Canada and I don't think we can get them here... I would buy one in they would become available here depending on the price of coarse;)
@@markpulling12 being Italian I am actually very happy that it is built in china so you can be sure that the bolts are all tightened correctly 😂😂. It yesssssss you are right it Is a bit expensive for what it is. I have the euro 5 version of the leoncino 500 and That is excellent value for money, At least in Italy 🇮🇹. Cheers mate 🏍
I think the new suzuki 800cc parallel twin the v strom replacement is far better. The suzukis are excellent motors, electrics and transmission. I dont trust that the chinese engineering is upto iso9001 standards with stuff like threads, position etc
How much ! What's with the toy lion on the mudguard. And don't get me started on the boy racer car exhaust lol. And can you honestly see this bike off road , mmmmmmm.
G'day Mark from Australia, mate this bike should be called a BSA " bits stuck anywhere" the designer must have been drunk at the drawing board, yes it has 2 wheels and a motor but come on there's no head tuning class about this one, as always great review A+ for you, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
@@markpulling12 yes, they seem to get that spec in other countries, I also seen a video with the trail version and it had a 17 inch spoked front wheel.
This is a trail bike, a scrambler, why is there no normal off-road, forest, difficult surface - deep sand and mud in the review? The review is incomplete without these things for this class of motorcycle!
I would have loved to have taken this off road but for a couple of reasons...the bike is new and the dealer wants it to stay that way ,not get it covered in mud etc so he can sell it plus here in the UK Dorset , green lanes and byways are very hard to come by .. Virtually every bit of land is owned privately it's difficult to get somewhere unless you have permission...the bike rides well and I'm sure it would be fine on light gravel tracks:) Thanks for watching best regards mark
How do you think would these be for touring? I want something I can commute on and take on holiday without breaking the bank, or buying two bikes. I guess the road version would be a better option for luggage with its lower exhaust?

Yeah, sounds a bit on the heavy side
The XSR looks very plasticy
The XSR also has worse suspension and worse brakes. Typical of Yamaha on there cheaper bikes, put a gem of an engine in a crappy chassis
Great review mark very nice bike and I love that colour.and I agree that motor has good power.
Thanks James ...yes I guess I wasn't expecting too much after the likes of the trk 502 but this bike really goes !!
I like it but I need some panniers. I don't see the pipes lending themselves to share that spot with a set.
Nice looking bike. Seems to be missing a guard plate underneath the engine for trail riding.
Nice review again Mark. A cracking looking bike but I reckon the depreciation will be awful.
Agreed but I think it's relative...7700 on this maybe get back 4000 in three years 10 k miles maybe ?
New BMW £16000 get back £12000 in three years...I'm not sure just surmising :)
Best wishes mark :)
Thank you again! What did you like better, this one or the Fantic Caballero 700? Because they are really similar specwise. Thx man 👍😎
Hi I preferred the fantic because it uses the brilliant Yamaha engine...the benelli is good but I'd go for the fantic
Best wishes mark
Thank you! Is this motor not as good as the cp2 from Yamaha? Which one is faster or has better acceleration? And last question: does the Benelli sound as good as the fantic caballero 700?
Looking forward to seeing the TRK800X 😎
Me too clive hopefully sometime this year :)
Do you think this bike would be ok for touring with aftermarket windscreen and soft bags?
Hi yes most definitely ..the engine would be perfect for touring
best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks for the fast reply! I have an option to buy one for 6000€, seems like a good deal. I am mainly looking for an adventure or touring bike, but this could also work I guess...
Good looking bike, looks a bargain compared to other scramblers like Caballero 700 or Morini SCR, have you tried Mark? , slightly heavier than I wanted but not bad, does weight feel nice n low in bike? quite short service intervals, good looking, still tempted by a lighter Yam XSR700 tho or Ducati Scrambler 🤔
A bit too expensive for the brand that it is but it seems well equipped. Would look much better without the 800 number fairing though
Yes I thought that too ...I'm sure they are the same ones as bmw
Thanks for the comment
Great looking bike and rides well cheers mark
Hi hw does this compare to the fantic caballero 500 , in your opionion which is the more fun, poweful, less likey to go bang etc
Hi Simon I'd say they are both equally reliable....but I'd definitely go for the Leoncino 800 it rides very well.... a lot more powerful cheers mark
Excellent review Mark
I do like this bike a lot, just curious as to how Italian is it??
Designed in Italy built in China
So as Italian as a chow mein :)
@@dannythinko great Danny glad it's going well with the 500 ....these are great bikes ....I was very impressed with the 800 cheers mark
Thank you for the great review Mark. Informative with a very nice delivery. Stay safe.
Many thanks Robert:)
looks great ad seems good value as well
Another good review mark, great looking bike, would like that petrol tank on my Leoncino 500 trail for the bigger capacity.
Nice review .😋
nice bike I like, but 800 is not sell in my country, just only leoncino 500 tails
Now that is a nice looking bike there Mark even that colour looks great I would certainly consider one if it was to fit me ok great review cheers 👍
Great thanks 👌
Thx dear Mark, please consider Sinnis outlaw 125cc.thx again
Saw it today at Poole Moto. Nice looking bike and good value
Hi Manny !! ..glad you liked it:)
A very good review but how does it compare with the 502x which is cheaper 🤔
Obviously loads more power and torque ,more than I was expecting, no fairing to speak of so it's generally a naked street bike more than a tourer great fun though!
Cheers mark
Hello mark,
Any plans to review the Moto morini x Cape?
I'll have a look and see if there is a dealer close by to me
Cheers Adam
No center stand? why do they do that.
Agreed .....but it's to increase ground clearance:)
Hi nik very nearly I'd say 80 % as much but it has more power through the mid and top end I'd say 75 ish true rwhp cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks for that. The NC is beginning to sound like my bike. The storage unit in the dummy tank would be so useful. The low c of g, ther DCT, the economy.
Regards,
Nick
@@markpulling12 Yes I found that it improved with a respectful running in too.
Same engine as 752?
I didn't really like the look of the bike... But then you rode it Mark and the performance won me over.. I'd buy one. Something different.
Is the exhaust system painted mild steel?
Hi Edward no I'm sure the exhaust isn't painted I had a good look round the bike and it looks well made:)
@@markpulling12 thankyou Mark
What is the 'like an accessory' switch for ?
Heated grips or fog lights options?
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 👍👍
It looks and sounds really good 👍...what price are these ?
Hi will ...I did say at the beginning
£7799 cheers mark
I like Benellis styling! The Chinese bikes are getting better.
Thanks this ones great 👍
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Still leaning towards an Enfield but delayed visit to garage due to lack of motorbike chain. Was going for the Oxford HD £40 one...just a deterrent...
Any suggestions? I want something under 5kg n robust enough just to stop liftage (am only gonna chain the bike up for 5 mins etc) e.g if stop for a tea at a pub n need a pee etc

@@markpulling12 Thks going to J@S and they have a few...
Hi, really nice review. I just bought one and waiting for the registration.
One question: Are the handlebars illuminated?
Cheers
Hi no sadly not
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 I saw some video from china review it in the dark and it have illuminated handle bar (hard to see on daylight). You should double check. I'm owning an TRK502 2021 and it have exactly same setup except for additional button for the screen control.
Sorry Mark but only 2 mins in and,, Well look at the coolant hoses hanging off the side ,,they look terrible.. The same can be said for the exhaust at the back end,I,m sure more thought could have gone into those..Ok I,ll keep watching now I,v got that of my chest..
Haha no probs everyone to their own and all that cheers mark
I had a couple of hours on one of the road ones when my Enfield was being serviced and that motor is a scream .
Thanks yes it rides better than I expected 😊
Expensive seeing as it will devalue massively compared to the likes of a mt-07
Looks very nice, seems a low seat height at fiest glance until you sat on it.
Yes it surprised me ...quite tall indeed
Great review as always, fab looking bike, expensive though...
Thanks Martine ....yes I was hoping it would be a bit cheaper
Great review as always mark, but how much ?? , that buys many other much more desirable bikes - but you pays yer money .
TRK 800 coming soon? Radiator looks vulnerable to stones off the front wheel.
Yes Mike looking forward to seeing the trk800 :)
Great looking bike, Mark.
Thanks it got a lot of looks when I rode it through town 😊 💯
Love road test. Would have liked little more off road small jumps etc 👌👍
Hi Mark, Can you get your hands on the new Benelli TRK702 or 702X 1:16 and give it a review. Cheers John.
Hi John ...I think I may be the first to review one in the UK ...they are coming in the next week or so best wishes mark
Love the colour...
Great bike. My fvrt
Many thanks
I agree 💯 cheers mark
what it the crank of this motor?270 or 360?
Hi these are 360
Best wishes mark
I'd do a 360 as soon as I entered a dealer. Christ these are junk. @@markpulling12
Is there anything that you did not like about this Leoncino 800, Mark?
Hi Oliver...maybe the price is a bit high for a Chinese bike but the bike rides very well with a great engine
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 being Italian I am actually very happy that it is built in china so you can be sure that the bolts are all tightened correctly 😂😂. It yesssssss you are right it
Is a bit expensive for what it is.
I have the euro 5 version of the leoncino 500 and
That is excellent value for money,
At least in Italy 🇮🇹. Cheers mate 🏍
I think the new suzuki 800cc parallel twin the v strom replacement is far better. The suzukis are excellent motors, electrics and transmission. I dont trust that the chinese engineering is upto iso9001 standards with stuff like threads, position etc
Thanks Ian yes really looking forward to trying those new Suzuki 800s. And don't forget the new hornet 750 motor too
Best wishes mark
The Hornet is crap. The Suzuki's are very nice. Worlds apart old chap.@@markpulling12
Now I want one!
Any luggage for these bikes
I'm sure givi do luggage:)
Cheers for the comment Neil :)
Beautiful looking machine.
Thanks Jed my thoughts aswell...kind of mean and cool :)
I think the little lion is going to be stolen at some point in life. I like the styling of the bike. Looks very good.
Looks good that, the only disappointment is that the bike at the show had Brembo calipers and marzocchi forks.
That explains it then I read that in the specs then didn't see it on this bike cheers mark
Virtually every bit of land is owned privately it's difficult to get somewhere unless you have permission...the bike rides well and I'm sure it would be fine on light gravel tracks:)
Thanks for watching best regards mark
Very nice bike
Thanks Eli 😁
I don't like the asymmetric exhaust, it would be better to have two pipes on both sides of the motorcycle, it would look cooler!
How do you think would these be for touring? I want something I can commute on and take on holiday without breaking the bank, or buying two bikes. I guess the road version would be a better option for luggage with its lower exhaust?
Yes I'm sure this would be fine for touring...ok it's not got a fairing...but it's not all about speed just take it steady and enjoy the scenery:)
Nice bike👍👍
