I’m still not satisfied with the limited options for wallpapers in CarPlay. You should be able to use a photo or have more design options. I don’t get why apple is holding back on giving you more.
They do that with everything. We can just now put apps where we want after android been doing that since 2009 lol. They release stuff so slow. You’re right tho
Same here, black wallpaper with the iDrive 8 displays in the car look so clean at night, like the bezels disappear completely and apps are floating inside the cabin
All apple need to do is allow maps to stay on when you make a call! When your using the map and you get a call or whatever you have to click back to maps which is a little distracting
@@TechvssTech I’m pretty sure my display supports multi touch since models with the OEM native navigation have pinch to zoom. But Android Auto has had it regardless of screen type as far as I understand. Regardless I wish there was a slider on the side of the screen instead of plus and minus buttons but that’s my personal preference.
Hopefully we get full screen access to maps in CarPlay for the GMC Sierra & Chevy Silverado’s with newer infotainment systems. In those vehicles only Google maps allow for full screen viewing. Come on Apple…. 🤞🏽🙏🏽💯

@@falconsfan1979 It’s not. You won’t be parked in the middle of the highway. You might be slow down but you are not going to parked. Also your google maps will be still running even you are slow down and stopped , that means you can still report the crash.
If you select Automatic for the Appearance mode on the CarPlay UI, do we finally have a light mode back with a white background and black media buttons showing, or is it still the same default dark mode even though the Automatic mode is selected? I liked when we had a light mode on iOS 13 and iOS 16, respectively. When iOS 17 was released last fall, Apple made a change and made the CarPlay UI default to dark mode even if you selected Automatic mode where light mode used to reside.
I think it’s the apps or the cars app( like GM Mylink and any manufacturers onboard systems) . In Mylink they got the Weather Channel app with radar included. But Apple won’t allow it on CarPlay and a few other ones. My guess is either the app or car manufacturers won’t allow it on CarPlay because they got a deal . If they did people wouldn’t use Mylink or any other car system. They wouldn’t get data from the car manufacturer to use it either.
I just bought a 2024 ford explorer and car play only works on half of the portrait mode screen. Does anyone know if there is s portrait mode in the new car play version
New wallpapers, boah what an interesting feature. I use CarPlay most for navigation and I miss the pitch and zoom function, which I have on the phone screen on the CarPlay screen. Instead of this I have to the select the +/- buttons for zoom or the cross arrows for up/down left/right. A direct move of the map diagonal is not possible. Oh I just see same request here by other comments.
And I suppose it still pops up to full screen the incoming call when you are using maps or other applications. This is what makes CarPlay annoying compared to a standard navigation system.
I am really looking forward voice control in CarPlay. It is very distracting to navigate CarPlay apps like Selecting a podcast or leaving a podcast I was listening to in the gym and want switch to Spotify app to listen to music.
Does someone have a video about adding or removing songs via Siri on a playlist through CarPlay? I want to say, “remove this song from the current playlist”
CarPlay is so crappy and lacking features.. ugly wallpapers, no dynamic wallpapers, can't rearrange icons directly in the screen, can't mute spoken notifications, can't choose what to show up in the "overview" view (eg remove calendar widget), and other stuff I can't remember right now but suffer during driving

google maps update is a GOOGLE MAPS update. I have that feature on ios17
I wish they would let us scrub through a song in car play.
I could be wrong, but you might be able to hold the back/next button to do that. Take it with a grain of salt since I don’t fully remember

its based off your cars display my dads M4 has multitouch so pitch to zoom works but my car chevy bolt does not support it

Regarding Google Maps reporting, you need to actually drive and use google maps to report. It is not going to work while you parked.
That's dumb. If there is an accident, most of the time you'd either be stopped or parked due to said incident.

Reporting a hazard on Waze doesn’t work on Apple CarPlay.

It was possible to shoot video while playing music in the car before. The QuickTape function is designed for this purpose.
Is there a way to stop force play music immediately when I connect with carplay ? That’s frustrating!
Gotta switch autofocus off, big distraction of the screen going dim and everything else is going bright when the arm is being in the frame
