Awesome to see someone else talking about these games. They are still such underappreciated gems, despite their bump in popularity thanks to Dark Souls. I have a really tough time choosing a favourite between 2, 3 and 4. The level design of 2 is unparalleled. 3 has incredible variety and an intense end game. 4 is dripping with atmosphere and really gets into my head. I even rate kf1 pretty high. They are such interesting and awesome games.
The bridge issue is less of an issue than you thought, an npc tells you that the big fellow removed a bridge the town had because of the monsters coming across, so the game does point out that there is a bridge there and that he's responsible for it. Don't remember which npc though but I do remember one pointing this connection out. All the npcs in that town are more helpfull after you save the boy's life, so I naturally wanted to see what else the had to say and give.
Good over view, but the wisdom stat controls how long you have to wait before you can fire another spell and has nothing to do with the power of a spell. The more wisdom fruit you eat the higher your wisdom stat is, capping at 5 when you can sling the early spells in mere seconds. It also helps Lyle understand what every item does via the guide button, but that's what faq's are for. The verdite gems just boost the power of spells.
I stumbled across this video randomly, and it's so insane to finally see people talking about these games that I love so much. Thank you for this! I'll have to check out the other ones that you covered as well.
Thanks for another great video on this amazing series. A few fun facts for the game. If you wear the entire promeus set it makes you completely immune to trap damage. This is especially useful in the passage of death. You can also stack elemental resistance gear high enough to become immune to certain attacks like the fireballs from the quelaag spiders. Finally increasing the wisdom stat is what allows Lyle to know what more and more items do when you look at their descriptions which from a fantasy perspective is so awesome.
I never had the problem with bread guy, mostly because I recheck NPCs my self. My thought processes was maybe if I do something like I dont know saving the kids life maybe people would change what they had to say about me, maybe even get some free stuff.
I've played the 4 KF not long ago and they became my absolute favorite games. 4 is my favorite overall but 3 is my favorite from the ps1trilogy, really loved everything about the game. Amazing videos you made about these games.
didn't mention that if you find all promethus, and get the entire set of armor, you are 100% immune to physical damage if you wear the entire set. Sure the other armor the one you get from the tree, prevents 100% magical damage which is more useful late game and makes Seth battle far easier without using the Seth Sword (which I never used sword magic in this game due to not .. really either finding it or.. not realizing 'how' to do it).
That's so incredibly busted I wish I knew that, I didn't even think there was enough Promeus in the game to make a full set and I don't usually 100% these games (just complete as much as I can discover on my own), so I had no idea, but thanks for sharing!
Oh boy, this one is a treat. Hi boss, nice video. I think i said before, and i will say it again, i dont have a fucking clue in how i managed to play this gem of a game when i was younger, but, it is nice that i played it. This game, indeed, looks and sounds like a perfect ending to the King's Field games, not only plays better but, it pay homage to every single game that came (no pun intended) before. Kinda like Dragon Quest 3, that in the end, after that gigantic adventure, you realise that it all returns to a big circle. I wish, that Kings Field had more games like these, maybe a Kings Field 5, but i think, the souls series ended up being the Kings Field of this era. When i look back and think about kings field, i can see the similarities and the design choices that nowadays, the souls series are so praised for, more on Shadow Tower, but you get the idea. Maybe Kings Field 4 was indeed the closure to everything it once were, or maybe it was something that was cut short. In the end, KF3 and KF4 are amazing titles, maybe a bit janky and rough in the edges for new players, but, good games. About KF aditional 1 and 2, they are dungeon crawnlers, more like the Wizardry series, and they are japan exclusive, and i think they dont have even a english patch, so, to play those games, you need at least 2 things, good japanese goblin energy or a guide. However, im realy excited to the Shadow Tower stuff that will come up. Good job Boss, i desire sex now. with love, your dearest Dwarven fwiend.
@@Cryveil me neither bro I was just DSP'ing a bit, someone else commented something like "first dungeon dragons" so I figured i'd comment some nonsense to help you with the algorithm. Fantastastic videos btw ♥
Moonlight Sword, The Sword of Light Darkslayer, the Sword that cuts all but Darkness Excellector, the Sword of Mortal potential I think the idea is that it is the vestiges of the Forest Dragon regenerating. Since it is a godly being, it would take a lot more than a mortal and a fancy sword to end it permanently. == ==Spoilers== == There is another King's Field game(I think psp) that is either a bad end future or 1 that happens several years after the 3rd game. Might be the former. But the 2 dragons when "killed" just go to a state of recovery that can last for an unknown amount of time. The final boss in the Verdite Saga is both dragons "fused" together both in states of regen. The reason the 2 never try to kill each other more overtly is because they were once 1 being, and when the 2 are near, they become mortal and can be freely killed for good, ending the Twin Dragon Gods hold of the world. == ==End of Spoilers== == In my honest opinion, I feel the black/Forest Dragon isn't evil or at least less evil than his White/Seath counterpart. We see Guyra way more after all, and Seath is the one that enveloped the world(possibly) in darkness where monsters were free to do whatever. Highly likely Forest did cause both events in 1 and 2 intentionally: evil in the Royal Graveyard and the poison of the Island. Be it to test his chosen champion or wanting to fight what evil was already there. I will say you never fight the dragons on the mortal plane but some other ethereal domain. So they can only rule through minions, agents, and champions. Sorry for my long speech of opinions and half finished game thoughts.
Great video i play fromsoftware games since kings field most of their game are hit or miss except for their 1st person view games which is pretty good for their time Eternal ring or evergrace will be nice in your future video
Was definitely going to give it a look in the future, probably going to put it in a 'Modern day King's Field' type video with some other games, but I'm waiting to get past the last few Fromsoft dungeon crawlers first
That's specifically a 2nd level sword magic move for only Seath's Sword, which is what makes it so good (and prevents the rest of the game from being broken)
IF I could just get these fucking controllers to work on Mendenden or what ever it's called, I could actually dissect these 3 Verdite games. What a complete headache on that emulator to setup controllers. Not happy.
I've never used that, but I've had a lot of issues with controllers as well, I end up opening all of my emulators through steam which automatically registers my controller inputs (if that's an option for you)
@@Cryveil thank you for option. I must admit I'm not the most proficient when it comes to computers so I doubt I could even begin to figure that out but it remains a option. Thank you again though. Seriously.
@@azforu29 You could also try the DuckStation emulator and see if it picks up your controller, otherwise if you have Steam, you can click the bottom right of your library to "Add a Non-Steam Game" then search for your desired emulator. Steam should automatically enable controller input for whatever program you open through it (if it doesn't you'll have to look online because I don't remember how to enable Steam input). If all of that still doesn't register your controller then you may have to "Toggle Analog" in you emulator for it to pick up your real controller (that's what it's like in DuckStation at least, I'm not aware of what the features of other emulators are though). Emulators are a pain but I hope some of this works for you!

so does that crystal sword evolve in its looks as well, or just its abilities?
Yes it evolves in looks and even minor ways like weapon weight
Good timing! Just beat KF1 yesterday.
