I totally agree with you, all of these reasons are why I never buy new furniture. My home is 90% free or thrifted, my style is whatever makes me happy. I don’t go for a generic ikea and hobby lobby house, and for god sakes no neutral everything, I need color in my life.

my dad told me pretty much the same things as you did! he is of the old school, and was an upholsterer back when i was a child. I'm looking for an older couch because the new stuff they are making is JUNK.
The furniture in general is amazing. My favorite is the little $25 chair in the bedroom. That’s unbelievable but that’s the price you paid for that. The plates on that chair and the fabric being wind is incredible workmanship I just love it. I also love that little settee with the horse hair. It’s a shame that you had to cover up the white sofa. Those crazy cats will do whatever they need to do to sharpen claws.
we are of like minds,and probably like experience in decorating, etc. I wish more people would hear this message..I get rave reviews of my house decor and have to say nothing here is 'new'...all from consigment, thrift, antiques stores....cultivating good taste takes time and good guidance (which I got from my mother who started her own antiques business when I was in Jr High)

I love it!! Thank you for sharing your expertise, wisdom, and your beautiful home. Your floral chair - wow! I love floral and it is so rare to find today. Your grandmothers sofa is stunning. The wood carving is amazing. Love the kitty too.
You can Google "2-light brass table lamp with a metal shade." I have no idea if it has another common name. Mine was, of course, a family piece from my sister-in-law.

I love my comfy old sofa -- it's a hand-me-down down sofa from past roommates who refused to take it with them when moving out. However, I want a sofa bed for my next home. Hopefully I can find a vintage one for the construction, but if not, I'd go with a custom one.
I have not made an extensive dive in vintage sofa beds, but they always seem to fall apart. I wonder if this might be a time to go new. Let me know what you end up doing and how you like your choice. Especially after a few years!! Happy Thanksgiving!
If the rest of the fabric on the french chair is in good shape, and you like it, you could use the pillow fabric to redo the arms and have a complimentary fabric pillow made.
That was my first thought too. Sadly there is a huge stain (probably coffee) on one side of the chair. I tried washing it with no luck. Oh well. The fabric is very thin, so it just needs to be replaced since it will be going to a house with 4 young kids.
Nothing complements nice furniture like a sleeping cat 😂
