I was just thinking the same thing. Evidently they did many things very right in raising their son. Truly a pure, genuine soul. He will succeed in all his endeavors. For sure. I wish him the best.
Thank you! I am only reaching out to companies whose products I actually use and love. It's the only way, in my book, to do this properly. To tell the truth and promote the goods that I can stand behind.
Love that you're sharing how the wool of the coverlets was dyed using native plants and how you've repurposed your mother and grandmother's saris to create quilts. So special ❤
My mother is British and as a child I learned to iron all the flat laundry: sheets, pillow cases, my dads tee shirts, Cotten kitchen towels, and other articles. Back in my day there were no fitted sheets so I learned how to make a bed with military tight corners. Many in my generation were taught how to do many household stuff that girls and a lot of women today have never been thought. At 75, I look back and thankful to my mother that taught me how to survive when I left home just before I was 21. I still use and do some of the same things I was taught.
Humbly suggest you find and watch the video in which Rajiv shares the story of the quilt’s creation. As a quilter too, I’m sure you will find it lovely. :)
Love every bit of attention to attention. Linen sheets are a treasure that improve with use. I love everything in this video, in particular the rustle of the sheets. Thanks Rajiv for showcasing the coverlets I made for you - an honour!!
Deborah, your coverlets are gorgeous ( the winter one is so lush, if I could afford one like it and the shipping to Australia, I would be so in)! Loved Rajiv’s vid of deep cleaning his room in honour of the new yellow/grey one you made.
i've seen alot of youtubers being sponsored by brooklinen, and I just wanted to say that I love how Rajiv explained the quality and history behind linen and made a beautiful bed featuring this product! This is so much more appealing to me than the other youtubers who have too much of a Pinterest tacky vibe and makes you not understand the luxury behind the product !
He didn't talk about it but I noticed the detail of him turning the open end of the pillow case to the wall. It makes for a much nicer and tidier view when you enter the room. 💛
A lot of my aunts and my grandmother were (UK) nurses right through the 20th century, when aprons were starched and there was almost military hierarchy in hospitals. Woe betide a Sister if the Matron came to a ward with a Doctor and all the pillow cases didn’t have their open edge away from the door. Even today I can’t make a bed unless the pillows are in the right direction. Early indoctrination 😂
Hi Rajiv, I'm normally a "night owl", never going to bed before midnight. This evening at 10pm (Australian time) I decided to be sensible (for a change) and go to bed early. Just before setting my alarm, I received the notification of this video. I had to view it immediately. It was so appropriate & relaxing to watch while actually in bed, and it definitely put me in the frame of mind to enjoy some extra beauty sleep. I have 1000 count pure cotton sheets...but pure linen is now also something for me to consider, either for myself and/or a gift idea for discerning friends & family. Much love from Melbourne. UPDATE: I have now just awoken to hear the news that there was apparently a minor (4.6) earthquake/tremor in Melbourne overnight. I had a wonderful slumber and didn't feel a thing! 👱🏻♀️❤️
@@Hope4TheBestPrep4TheWorst Hi, Yes, that's a great point...especially as I also use a pure silk pillowcase! At least with linen sheets someone wouldn't slip out of the bed, as they would with silk sheets! 😂 I suppose as long as I didn't expect that the linen would feel like my 1000 thread count sheets. I'm sure that I would much prefer linen rather than sheets containing polyester fibres. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. 👱🏻♀️❤️
Hello again Rajiv! Another wonderful video! And now I will share with you how we solved the sheet ironing when I was a child (long, long time ago)...I would help my grandmother fold the hand washed and line dried sheets into a neat square and then we would all sit on them during dinner. Ironing was much easier after our warm little bottoms spent some time on these sheets. Wonderful memories I still cherish from my time spent with my grandparents. Much love to you. Looking forward to all your videos and now, my grandchildren and I, we know how to make the perfect pom poms. You are a great inspiration and your videos are beautiful, as you are, and very relaxing.
That quilt made from Saris is a treasure indeed! I love looking at old quilts made by someone in my family, since they were usually made from leftovers from other projects it's fun to try and recognize what the pieces were from.
I cannot afford the linin sheeting, however I do have several heavy linin white banquet size table cloths, so I am using them, and I also had an old ( over 100 years) handmade carpet from the Caucasus, much like the carpet in your bedroom. I had it in storage because I thought it was so delicate, but today I got it out and put it next to my bed. It is beautiful and my sleeping tonight is going to be so luxurious!! Thank you and God Bless.
Rajiv, I simply enjoy your channel even though I am fast approaching the decade of the 70s😊 . You remind me so much of my dear father, who drummed it into us to seek out quality items that will last , and also, that there is a method for every do- able thing. So when it came to bed linen, (which got changedcevery Sunday after returning from church service), we were taught to fold the sheets in half along the length and iron the sheets to create a middle line as a marker. This is then used as a guide when placing the sheet onto the bed to create an even drop length on both sides of the mattress. It's probs my OCD when making up my bed each day but a neat pleasure to get into a well made bed at night as you say.
I never tire of watching your videos and your passion for everything you do. I laughed out loud at your “overnight guests” admission as I had previously (embarrassingly) thought, gee, that bed is a bit small for cuddles 😂. We have a king size bed and even that can feel “cosy” at times when all of our fur babies decide to climb up for a snuggle - especially during the cold winter nights and mornings we are experiencing here in Eastern Australia right now. Though not as bad as the years we went through waking up in our queen bed with a toddler laying horizontally between us while we clung to the edge of the mattress 😩
I could watch a 1 hour video about making the bed. I love how passionate about things you are, your voice is sweet and I love your good taste. Love you Rajiv ❤
Oh my heart melted 💕 the quilt made of family saris!! I love that… I try to save family items in some form as well. Framed my grandma’s cushion covers that she embroidered, and my grandads playing cards. They are from the 60s with water colour pin up girls on them
Now I didn’t get the linen sheets from them, but they weren’t the cheapest ones on their website and I was shocked by how cheap they looked and felt. They immediately got returned and I bought the basic Red Land Cotton sheets and they’re incredibly soft and sturdy. I’ve had them for 3 years and they’re incredible! I would buy them again and again.
I really appreciate your attention to detail, especially matching your shorts to the flowers. It made an already enjoyable video, even more enjoyable to watch! ❤
So appreciate your videos. They are informative, honest, relaxing and educational. Also, I have Brooklinen bedding and love it. You are the first person I have seen that really did it justice as a sponsor. You pointed out all the little things that make it so worth having.
Thank you. I strongly believe that in order to recommend a product in a genuine way, you need to be an authority on the subject. I also take the relationship I have with viewers very seriously, and only want to stand behind products I know and love.
I have a winter/summer theme in the form of flannel in winter. I didn't consider linen for summer until now, thinking it's too luxurious. But perhaps it's worth the splurge. My bed is a functional piece of furniture in the sense that I meditate, read and exercise on it since I don't own a couch., so it works for me to have a covering that is easy to wash comfortable and not too fussy. I can take elements of what you are expressing today and incorporate that into my plan. Just knowing that you spent the time to consider beauty, comfort, and health in relation to something that is so intimately connected with our body, would itself be a active gesture of self love.
I bought sheets from Brooklinen two years ago after sleeping on some at a beautiful AirBnB in Palm Springs. Very lovely quality sheets. However, I love the easy duvet cover I bought from Crane and Canopy (it zippers and there is no struggle to get the duvet sorted out). In addition to the zipper feature, they also have the ties to which you can affix your duvet. You keep putting out these sweet videos and I'll keep watching them. 😊
My friends think I'm crazy for ironing bedding, but I love it. Not only does the bed feel most elegant and luxurious when you slide into it, the process of ironing is meditative and so satisfying. I will even give the pillow cases a touch up pressing mid week sometimes. We use linen bedding year-round, it's cooler in summer but also just seems cozier in winter. It's my favorite textile for everything: clothing, kitchen and table linens, throw pillows, curtains, upholstery...thank you for another lovely and inspiring video.
I have watched so many content creator ads for Brooklinen .. you are the one that convinced me. Knowing how you prize everything.. looking for even tiny treasures in the mundane .. yes. Next sheet set is from them. I will come back for this code shortly. Lovely video 😊❤
Beautiful bed. I also love antiques. This is by far, the best Brooklinen collab I've seen so far, and I've seen many. This was thoughtfully done and seamlessly integrated into your content, rather than just being a "by the way", tossed in ad. I truly enjoyed it.
My family and I live in the California desert and we have triple digits most of the year. My husband and I have two linen comforters. A white striped one with a very thin stuffing for the summertime and a dark gray one with a very downy thick stuffing for the winter.
I would never have the patience to do any of this, but there is something so calming about listening, and I love the way you talk about life! You make me feel so calm. For the record, I still love my bed area - it's completely covered with only soft and fluffy things. I sleep under a light fuzzy throw in the summer, and a thicker fuzzy Costco blanket in the winter. It's very much a "nest" style of bedding. To each their own!
For me the best tip was the one for hot sleepers. It is always so hot here in Houston and I am now folding my duvet in 3, as you showed. It is working so well and my bed is looking prettier than ever. Thank you, Rajiv!
I'd love to hear you talk about window treatments - do's and dont's. I absolutely love your windows - super clean and bright and airy. Thank you for all of the videos. Checking out Brooklinen now.
I absolutely LOVE your content. It really elevates one’s thinking and approach to life. I am curious if you consider and/or incorporate feng shui principles in your home decor and layout concepts.
Another charming video. I definitely don’t have the discipline to make a nice neat bed like this but I admire it very much and love getting into a nicely made bed. As another commenter said… I seem to favour the “nest” style of bed making 😅
Hi Rajiv! I also switch to linen in the summer. Here’s a tip for those of you that have a clothesline: I wash my sheets, then carefully hang them stretched out flat. They dry beautifully flat and crisp!
Rajiv makes beautiful things, and makes things beautiful……he’s beautiful, too. Week later POST SCRIPT: Inspired by this video to splurge and treat myself to my first fine linens. HolySmokes!!!! Quality and attention to detail at “brooklinen” starts with their beautifully designed website to their end product of lovely bedding. In between is their packaging. Really felt like I was opening a treasured gift. Sheets are wrapped in pristine tissue paper (acid free?), then enveloped in a perfectly tailored cotton bag with attached cotton ties. Will definitely repurpose these cotton bags. Also learned my new favorite, meaningful, word in the packaging (Sprezzatura). So, this is how the other half lives? Looking forward to the rest of my orders arriving. ❤
I remember the wonderful feel of ironed sheets… brings memories of our laundress, Melida, first using irons and coals and then the “miracle” of an electric iron… so many years later I truly appreciate her service. Thank you Rajiv for taking us into your elegant and well though out home.
I love to sleep in a cool room, so during winter I cover myself with a heavy woolen duvet and a woolen blanket, and I cover the head with a cotton sleeping cap, handmade. I love to feel the heaviness of these covers. ;) no central heating, just fire in my old village house. Love your films so much!
One of my most cherished memories is watching my little friend's mom putting on her sari. It was in NYC and i was 7. The room was very light and bright. Thats all i remember ❤
You somehow always manage to change my definition of beauty and value with each video you upload. It’s amazing how much your love of life and its many details can rub off on someone even through a screen.
Hello Rajiv, you are awesome. So glad you have your own UA-cam channel where you are the star of the show each and every time. When i saw the quilt made out of your mom's and grandma's saris, I thought, this needs to be displayed. If not as a wall hanging, then maybe draped over a chair or a piece of furniture to be enjoyed every day. Another thing. I come from Poland where i never had the sheets tucked under the mattress. I just don't understand. Tucked sheets have lots of space for cold air to collect. I keep my sheets tucked around my feet and legs, and body, very much like an Egyptian mummy. This leaves no room for cold air. That's warm. Thank you.
Fun. Thanks for sharing. I switched to linen sheets several years ago. I'm lazy so I only iron the top part by the head. My color comes in the form of the quilts I make. Recently, I bought a cast iron (made to look like brass) head board that I love dearly. It sets the whole thing off. Often I find myself sitting in the rocking chair with my knitting and admiring how beautiful I think my bedroom finally is. I'm glad you didn't wait until you're in your 70's to create a beautiful space for yourself.
When I was little, my mom and I would make routine visits to JC Penney lol , I would make my way to the home decor section as my mom roamed around for shoes 😂 nevertheless she always knew where I would be. Once I found the bedding department that's when I discovered my love for making up beds. Honestly I would rearrange the entire layout of the bed set , find pillows to put on it , detailed add ons 😂 they should've hired little ol me. Watching this took me back to that place and my love for making a bed feel like home. I enjoyed this very much and actually listened to the whole thing without skipping like most vids I do because TikTok made me a bit impatient 😅 which I'm working on. Lovely bed and lovely home. YAH bless and shalom 🕯️💫
Love the shorts matched the flowers and lipstick on the painting, the bed is a dream! Thank you for sharing your sources and please do more collabs on products to love !!!
Another inspiring video with you Rajiv. How is it even possible to have this much passion and knowledge about everything. With you everything in life is enjoyable. 😍🙏❤️
A delight ... as always! To find joy in the simple acts of bed dressing.. to pick up a bit of history..and to highlight the bespoke textile arts as well as large company doing it right...well now.. thats golden
I was going to ask about that bed. It’s beautiful!! Yes, y grandmother told me years ago to never use a quilt without a flat sheet under it and I’m sure it was to help keep the quilts clean..
Thank you Rajiv for your enthusiasm of beauty and colour. Every time I watch your channel my cup is filled with ideas for the apartment I will be moving into in late November on my birthday. I am so excited and inspired. Bless you for the joy you spread around. ❤❤❤❤❤
Ooooooh! I spy with my little eye another BEAUTIFUL bouquet. 😍😍😍 Really enjoyed this video about bed making and the deep dive about Linen and just all the history in general. Linen is one of my favorite fibers/fabrics.
Thank you kind sir. My grand mother and mother had lovely linens and caring for them was not taken lightly. Also the making of the beds was an art. Flax, good flax is my favorite. But I must also say many moons ago portions of India produced very soft cotton. Pima is also lovely. Clean linens are a luxury .
Makes me so happy when I see a video from you pop up. I promptly sit and watch it Rajiv. Thank you for this very informative video, it just warms my heart to hear you talk about the history of whatever your subject is. Loved the colours of your linen and the way you put them together with detailed explanation. Thank you and keep making these videos. Stay blessed and take care.❤
My grandmother, who was from New York and born in 1910, had *ALL* her linens and clothing sent to the laundry or dry cleaners. Sheets, napkins, table cloths, everything. I remember her things being delivered to her house neatly folded and wrapped in blue paper tied with twine.
Hi Rajiv, I also love keeping our house looking neat and clean and love making my Queen rise bed look expensive and beautiful, you are such an inspiration, Thanks for the great videos, I just subscribed. ❤✌️
So lovely!!!! I take the same effort in making beds - I love making beds. Now I will be adding my first set of these pure linen sheets!!! You are pure joy, & still top of my favorite humans list!!!! Side note: I laughed out loud when you said "we" sleep 1/3 of our lives, because I immediately said No way Rajiv sleeps 8 hours!!😂 Yes, before you admitted it!😂😂😂
totally agree about not being afraid of color, so true nowadays! we have some brooklinen covers after extensive research trying to find linen as well! we love them! my aunt used to also tuck with “hospital corners.” so interesting how there can be so much to something as simple as making the bed. 😊
Hi Rajiv I always love ❤️ white or simple solid color, don’t know how to mix & match. Your video to inspire me to try put difference colors on my bed. Thank you sooooo much for your beautiful content & well done demonstration. From 🇨🇦 😊❤
i hope i can raise my future children to be as passionate about life as rajiv is
Whatever 😘
You will 🤗
Such a sweet sentiment. Your children are lucky!
I wish my grown child is 1/10th as passionate …
Yes just get quality items your family will naturally take care of it
I would looove to see a summer picnic by Rajiv… the basket, the blanket, the utensils, the food 😍 would be great
Uuuhhh that would be amazing! I'd also love a dinner party or any small celebratory meal by him.
LOVE this idea! I hope he obliges 😊
I love that idea!❤
😍
perfect idea
Very clever matching your shorts to the flower arrangement
😂
Kkkkkkkk
I noticed that as well 😊
You ruined it for me! I thought Rajiv was in his underwear.
Your parents must be very very proud of you. You are such a warm & kind person.
I was just thinking the same thing. Evidently they did many things very right in raising their son. Truly a pure, genuine soul. He will succeed in all his endeavors. For sure. I wish him the best.
Last week I bought a 100% linen duvet cover at my local thrift store for a dollar. Started shaking with joy when I found it.
Oh gosh! That’s awesome. I know that felt great! 😊
I love linen 😊👏🏽❤️
Thrift shops are great places to find linen.
And THATS how a paid partnership should be done. He kept the partnership in his wheelhouse, promoted quality products, and actually used the product.
Thank you! I am only reaching out to companies whose products I actually use and love. It's the only way, in my book, to do this properly. To tell the truth and promote the goods that I can stand behind.

My beloved Mum ironed the sheets. British rule upbringing. She just passed and this brought back a fond memory ❤

Ohhhh! I am in awe! Learned how to make a bed look splendidly, comfortably, chic! BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you so much for another amazing video!
Rajiv! Good grief! The beauty of the quilt made from your mother's and grandmother's saris!!! Could there be anything more special?
Your content is always so good.
Hot pink shorts…only you Rajiv🤩
Silent night
Holy night
All is calm
All is bright...
Hello from LA… dude your the best and that’s what I came on to say. We all love your contact, your our modern Martha Stewart ❤❤❤❤
*content 😂
You’re.
Thank you.
Like you, Deborah is really really talented. ♥️ Beautiful! 🤎🤍🤎
My mother asked me to thank you for teaching me how to appreciate nice things.
Thank you.
Thank your mother for me, please! And thanks for watching!
I discovered microfiber sheets and love them over fine cotton. A much finer and silkier weave, cooler to the skin, and much less expensive.
You are such an elegant human! Bravo!
Now I need to learn how he washes his pillows to keep them so fluffy!
It is beautiful.
We would love to meet Debra. Please bring her on your show once 😊
Another inspiring video with you Rajiv. How is it even possible to have this much passion and knowledge about everything. With you everything in life is enjoyable. 😍🙏❤️
Hi Rajiv! Love the way you talk about things :) Love from Portugal 😘
A delight ... as always! To find joy in the simple acts of bed dressing.. to pick up a bit of history..and to highlight the bespoke textile arts as well as large company doing it right...well now.. thats golden
Hi Rajiv 👋 Im a linen freak..bed sheets, napkins, and table clothes. Great product.
I was going to ask about that bed. It’s beautiful!! Yes, y grandmother told me years ago to never use a quilt without a flat sheet under it and I’m sure it was to help keep the quilts clean..
oh my....may I get a close up of the quilt made with your mother's sari? It is resplendid....❤
I have been thinking about linen sheets and now I have some more inspiration. Thank you
Thank you kind sir. My grand mother and mother had lovely linens and caring for them was not taken lightly. Also the making of the beds was an art. Flax, good flax is my favorite. But I must also say many moons ago portions of India produced very soft cotton. Pima is also lovely. Clean linens are a luxury .
I love Brooklinen sheets and thought your collab with them was so perfect and natural.
Your bedroom is an inspiration, so calm and peaceful. And your shorts match your flowers! Your videos are a bright spot in the day, thank you! 🌷
I have been considering Brookline sheets for awhile. Your video convinces me, Rajiv. 🙏🏼❤
I audibly screamed when I saw your pink shorts. Cute 🥰 hi Rajiv 🎉
Your antique bed is lovely. I'd buy one like that if I ever found it. My linen sheets come from Ikea and I only iron the pillowcases.
Everything about you is simply beautiful. Honestly
I am now sleepy and ready for bed. Nite Nite!❤
I really like the pink shorts Rajiv. I love pink and would love to be able to carry it off like you do in this video.
I love Brooklinen! I got my first linen sheets earlier this year and I LOVE THEM! Now I want to get the linen duvet to complete the bed, lol.
My grandmother, who was from New York and born in 1910, had *ALL* her linens and clothing sent to the laundry or dry cleaners. Sheets, napkins, table cloths, everything. I remember her things being delivered to her house neatly folded and wrapped in blue paper tied with twine.
Hi Rajiiiv, I'm a great admirer of yours... Keep creating such videos sunshine ☀️ it's so comforting to watch these videos
Those shorts are so cute. Thank you for the knowledge!
Nothing like the smell of night breeze, just out of the shower and jumping into bed on fresh linen sheets . Bliss !
From 🇨🇦 😊❤
