      If you want to take it a step further and make it whatever color you want, I saw a UA-camr explain that she made a rare coral pink couch using fabric dye. Limitless possibilities, if you put in the work 😅

    U did an amazing job. I can’t believe how u was able too turn this into another couch that ur family can use for many more years for less than $300. Very talented and incredible. What a great way too save thousands of dollars. U did such great work and showing everyone how too reuse there old couch and make it into a completely into a different couch to use for our families too save us money. Thanks for sharing how u did this because I thought I was gonna have too get a new couch but u showed me I don’t have too spend another $3000 on another new couch and reuse my old couch. I appreciate u sharing ur journey on repurposing ur couch and showing us how we can do the same. Thanks for sharing and love ur new repurposed couch. Have a blessed day.

    Wow that was such a big bang for your buck. Reminds me how my paternal grandmother always had her couch and chair sent out to be reupholstered every few years. That white makes the room look so fresh and I could easily see a slip over to change out for fall or Christmas. Good job.

    A little tip, after foam you can attach a mattress topper ontop if you don't want to use the old cushions you had before, use the thickest one you can get , or buy upholstery foam in a suitable depth and cover with what we call battoning fabric before your end fabric which will give you a real cushioned backing , lots of ways to achieve good results these days , most so much cheaper than a new couch, if the base cushions you sit on are sinking, undo the base material, if metal springs I'd say replace them, if strapping cut and tighten up . It's more of a scary thought than actually doing it. , I even recovered a wing back chair using a teddy fleece throw and hot hlue gun, it's wearing pretty well for now been 6months too. This is a great video, you did amazing , wishing I didn't sell my L shaped sofa a few years back , loved it too .

    That was amazing! I've been saying for the longest that I was going to give my head board a makeover but I've been procrastinating, basically lacking confidence. Watching the simplicity of this makeover gave me the courage to at least price the materials. The canvas is a perfect idea. It takes away the stress of shopping for the right fabric at the fabric store. Now I have to learn how to put the studs (bling, bling) in the head board. This will be a great start for my Spring bedroom make over... Thank you for sharing your Gifts.

    You did an amazing job! Had you done any reupholstering before? Your zip tie solution was just brilliant. I didn’t quite understand the addition of the boards to the back of the couch. Did you the cushions wouldn’t provide enough support like the original ones did?

    • @RandomBitesofaSweetLife
      @RandomBitesofaSweetLife  2 роки тому +4

      Thanks Susan!! I reupholstered 2 chairs before. That video is also on my channel and that was my first try. I did 2 other chairs that I didn't film because it was before I had a channel. This was my first try on a couch. I had to add the boards because when I removed the back cushions, there were just holes underneath. I covered the spaces with the boards. I didn't know this would be needed when I started out so I had to improvise.

    • @RandomBitesofaSweetLife
      @RandomBitesofaSweetLife  3 роки тому +16

      Aww thanks Emily. I’m glad you found the video. The couch is still good. It’s worn just fine. The only thing I can think of that I would have done differently is to do a 2nd wash or 2nd rinse of the drop cloths to make sure all the bleach is out. I kept thinking I should have done that but I don’t think it negatively affected anything. It just had a bit of a bleachy smell for a while after. It faded after that. The bleach is used to soften the material. I’ll share an update in a few months to show how it’s holding up. It gets normal use, we don’t baby it. :)

    I wanted to make a little “me space” down in my unfinished basement. I wasn’t looking for something crazy expensive but I did want it to be comfortable ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa as I planned on using it to escape reality and have an inviting place to go when I need “me time”. It came very quickly and it took me maybe 30 minutes to put it all together by myself. I will say, the boxes it comes in are awkward shaped and LARGE. So I did have to have help getting it inside. But it is SO comfy. It’s a little on the firm side but I prefer that. The back is not that attractive but I cover it with a blanket. All in all, I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone.
