I am 46. When I was twelve, I used to have to lift weights in my parents basement where my Mom couldn't see me because she used to start yelling at me that I was going to stunt my growth. I am 6'2. I guess I would have grown to be about seven feet had I not started weight lifting so early.
Reeves would do slow, perfect reps, 2 up, three down, and if he could do 3 sets of 13 perfect reps, he’d add weight, then do the 8-12 rep range until he could do 13, then increase weight, etc. He did full body on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, then took the weekend off. On off days, he would do cardio in the form of power walking, which he popularised.
Agreed. People seem to be getting more into classic look anyway. Just look at all the parted haircuts and thick framed glasses everyone is wearing now.
Kyle Sweeney If you think these guys are on juice you either A: have no idea what you're talking about, B: are using it as an excuse to not work hard in the gym or C: all of the above Both of their physiques are perfectly attainable naturally.
Reeves juiced, as did those early bodybuilders too. They knew almost nothing about proper nutrition and training, yet testosterone has always been effective. Physiques of the '50s are achievable naturally today IF you have good genetics.
Did some training back in the mid 70s with some bodybuilders well into their 50s and 60s, I was in my 20s. They always did full body training. They were extremely conditioned and looked great.
@@MysterD515 Of course, it's tough, it was a contest preparation routine. Steve Reeves, in his book, said the best way to bulk is 6 sets per body part, 8-12 reps and always going to failure to achieve the most possible bulk of muscle.
Such a great job on this video dudes! You totally nailed the nostalgia factor from the music to the narration! Love the respect for Steve Reeves! Happy 2018 Buff Dudes!!
I'm 52 yrs old and I started bodybuilding because if steeve Reeves not Arnold, watched all his movies and read lots of articles on him, he was the true king of bodybuilding! Thanks great video , funny to!
I love this video. You guys have some fun with the Steve Reeves persona and are still respectful to Steve. You've got the period film attitude down perfect.
Awesome video Dudes! I've gotten GREAT results myself from full body training. Would love to see more content like this about other Golden Age Bodybuilders!
Hey just came across your amusing and fun to watch video..l also I ove your well edited video and the voice dub over Steve Reeves on the beach that was fantastic. Looking forward to some more take care bless you man
This workout seems pretty simple yet effective. I don't go to the gym but I do have dumbbells at home and also, I like workouts that target all areas of the body and doesn't take too much time! All I did is something like this and gradually increase on the weights overtime. I can see my fitness and strength improving little by little. Much thanks for the share!
Good one. I started my morning with this workout. I did the exercises as super sets to save time and keep my heart beating. Jumping jacks and pullups rather than a brisk walk. Thanks Dudes.
I wish I could workout the old-school ways, in an old-school gym. Nowadays, it's all about who can lift the heaviest, taking selfies and getting followers on social media. Even some of my gym buddies spent time talking about how they can get more followers and sponsorship rather than actually working out at the gym.
i need to pickup a couple of those olympic dumb bells i have a hexes up to 50lbs and regular ones plus a golds power stand dumbell set i found all rusted and restored...but those olympic ones can be loaded up to over 100lbs each...which would be awesome for a lot of movements...thanks for sharing
love the old school vid lol. theres a part where u actually resemble steve reeves a little bit! i actually have of steve reeves mr universe workout in my channel
When i subscribed to your channel it was barely known now it grow huuuge guys Congrats u realy deserve this This oldschool videos are great all your ideas about making videos is superb thank to you bros and couple others i still got will power to do workouts and calisthenic workout cos i can see a honest knowledge without lies and juice ThX
I love this workout. I think it's straight forward and covers so much of the body. The only things I added was a set of pull ups and good mornings. What I found interesting is how challenging the pushups were for me. I have a fairly strong bench, but I also weigh ~285lb so sixty push ups totally kicked my butt(chest and triceps haha). Thanks again for the content, Steve Reeves was such an interesting and inspriational figure to so many people.
Amazing Video as always but I would give this 1 allll my love cause I love Steve Reeves, most aesthetic physic of all time imho. Love you dudes keep up the great content.
Looks to me like standard pleated dress pants that would come with a suit, and a simple short sleeve button-down Don't know if you can get that exact look today, but I bet you could get close at just about any store that sells Men's Wear It does look good, and comfortable
Steve Reeves trained x3 a week using 3 exercises per body part 3 sets each apart from biceps get get incline curls 9 sets it’s on UA-cam in his own words.
Click Bait you my friend are no John Kennedy I mean Steve Reeves! So having said that you do have a good physique and the hair and beard on point! Do Reg Park please.
I used to get that "don't workout until you're 30" alooooot. I started working out at 15, and all of my friends and cousins who saw progress started to tell me that I shouldn't workout at this age as it could cause problems with my bones, can cause stunted growth. And if I stop working out for a week or two, and wanna join back they'll tell me there is no point in continuing your workout now as you've spoiled your body by not working out for too long. Alot of discouragement I faced which made me actually to stop lifting. Until I was 22 and got back in lifting as soon as I got the chance. And on the other hand another cousin of mine who started lifting by the age of 14, kept grinding and became buff as hell by 17 and is just as tall as I am now and has an amazing physique. Moral of the story, don't listen to all those disencouragements and JUSTDOIT!!
It's true... I started working out when I was 29 years and 364 days old. I am actually 5 inches shorter now... regret it so much
tricepsish hahaha
Lol
And don't work out after 60 or the same will happen.
Damn. They told you to wait...and you. didn't. LISTEN!!
LOL that is it.
Don't workout until you're 30 years old or else you will stunt your growth haha! Love it guys!
hahah the text was a real gem!
lol it was!
Is it true
ITINERANT * no lol
fucking freaked me out till seeing this comment, thank god

Thanks dude really appreciate it! Definitely a huge part of what makes this so fun for us.
Funny video bro. I'd rather have that classic old school physique than the juiced up freak beast look anyday
Agreed. People seem to be getting more into classic look anyway. Just look at all the parted haircuts and thick framed glasses everyone is wearing now.
These guys are juiced up lol

Benjamin Hamilton yea that's obvious, I was referring to the look bodybuilders had before steroids were introduced.

Paulo Guga It is really tough. I tried his championship workout. It's a lot of reps and sets. It contains more than 70 sets.
