I have been poaching eggs this way for the past year minus the pre heating of the water in the microwave (I just boil it in a kettle). The difference between this method and lots of others is the use of pyrex glass. I use glass mugs (the handles make it easier to put in and take out of the microwave). The glass conducts the heat in a more efficient way than using a ceramic mug and as you say only takes 30 seconds to cook. I might take up putting the boiled water I use in the microwave for a short while, since if it is cold the cold mug cools the water down and sometimes it needs a few seconds more cooking in the Winter. I have never had an egg explode when using glass. Iv’e had loads explode using ceramic mugs.

I only use pyrex for thebulk of microwave cooking. it is less sucessible to temp changes than other materials except plastic, but i find pyrex to be a better choice.

So what about if you want to cook two or four eggs? How would the times adjust for that? They would be helpful. Thank you for this excellent method! I'll definitely try it 😉

@@michelle15598 well, I think you might have missed my point. I'm single. I don't want to cook four or five or six eggs. I just want to cook one. 😁

@KimMoonbmwmoonie I don't think it's unusual for one person to want 2 eggs. But if my question is too difficult or beyond your skill set, I understand. I will just continue making them the way I always have. Thank you! ☮️

I might give that a try. The eggs came out just right!
I do mine in a coffee mug thats 1/3 filled with cold water, then i add the egg. Then i nuke it for about a minute or so. Works ok.

Wow! that looks great but when I tried a similar microwave method the egg exploded in the microwave and it took about an hour to clean it up, so never again for me. Although you cant beat microwave scrambled eggs, they're the best.

@@SidBonkers51 well, there might be several reasons for that that you haven't mentioned. If you try to cook them without the water, they will certainly do that. And if you try to heat up the water at the same time you're cooking the egg, it will do that. My method takes care of both of those issues by heating the water at first, putting the egg in the water and then only microwaving for additional 30 seconds. Give it a try. Also try covering the dish that you've got them in with a paper towel folded over or a cover like I show in the video.

I get a nice compact, non wispy result with cold tap water and a cold egg. Warm water gave me something that looked like yours.

@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt andhowlong did you have to cook it for? I find the egg undercooks in cold water... but i am also using pyrex... are you using plastic?

Small Anchor Hocking glass bowl. MW and oven safe. Undercooked? Just microwave it longer. Egg stays compact and doesn’t partially dissolve in water using tap water. That’s what I meant by cold water. Egg is cooked directly from refrigerator.

@@kennethhamburg8909 so you want to watch a 30-sec of something spinning around inside of a microwave with a light on? How far is our society dropped that you don't trust the fact that I'm telling you. I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds?
