Cody Smith Oh yeah man I play Fifa all the time love the career mode it's actually gotten bizzarely decent in 17. =) I they bring some original IP's to the switch I'm still undecided on it.
Fun info, Johnny: The New 3DS XL's battery life when playing 3DS games is between 3.5 to 7 hours, game depending. So, 2.5 to 6.5 hours game depending for the Switch's battery life when on the go is no better than the New 3DS XL, and I've gotten some decent time out of my New 3DS when I play it on the go before it gives me that horrible red light of "I'm gonna die soon" message. So, while it could've been a little better, I'm not that upset over the Switch's battery life, especially since this feels more like their next home console with the ability to use it as a handheld built into it rather than a handheld itself. Also, I can wait for the Kingdom Hearts marathon. Again, the HD 1.5 and 2.5 Remix comes out in March for the PS4, so if you wait until that comes out, combined with HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (which comes out in less than 2 weeks btw), you can have every single game in the series all on one console.
They said the Switchs life will depend on the GAME as well, so you might have games you really wanna play that get 2 hours at launch and slowly comes down as the rechargeable battery slowly weakens.
And again, I've gotten some good length out of my New 3DS XL with a battery life range of 3.5 to 7 hours, so I'm not really that upset over the Switch's battery life, especially since, again, I see it more as their next home console, that just so happens to also fully function as a handheld. I'm saying I'm not upset at the Switch's battery life range of 2.5 to 6.5 hours.
Johnny, Johnny, Johnny.... You have no idea what you've been missing out on with Xenoblade Chronicles. D R I don't think so, the franchise is down in the dumps right now. After Other M back in 2010, Nintendo said "shit, people don't like Metroid anymore" when it was just a bad game in contrast to the rest of the series. Then when the backlash from Federation Force came from 2015's E3 until it's 2016 release Nintendo are taking it as people not caring about/liking Metroid anymore, when really it's just that the last game is not what the fans wanted at all and the last two games were probably the worst in the series (disregarding the first two games, they haven't really aged well enough to be compared to today's standards). I really hope they come up with something good if they do make another game. What I and many others would like most is a sequel to Fusion, especially since there is a lot to work with (Samus destroyed a Federation Metroid breeding program, exploded a planet that would have been vital to said program, is basically a fugitive on the run, the (possibly) only existing Metroid DNA is in Samus' body, etc.), although back in 2002 no one asked for Prime yet it still stands up there as one of the greatest games in the series, not to mention one of the greatest Nintendo titles of all time - so if some sort of prequel/interquel comes out that is a good return to form for the series, it could save it and us fans.
Luke Iannello 2 things: 1. I don't think Other M was BAD, but I really wasn't fond of how Samus was characterized (hey, maybe this is why Mario and Link are mutes lol). 2. Nothing else, you got AM2R.
D R I wasn't saying it was bad in general, just that it's not as good as the other games. 1. I feel like too many of the story elements were borrowed from other games, in particular the secret Metroid breeding program - if it didn't work in Other M on the Bottle Ship, why did the Federation try again in Fusion on the BSL station? The breeding-program-plot-device feels like something that was shoehorned in later on in production, rather than having the bulk of the story built around it. 2. The PTSD Ridley scene didn't make sense. Yeah, he keeps coming back and he killed Samus' parents when she was a child, but she's since battled Ridley, a robot version of him (Zero Mission), a cybernetic resurrection of him _three times_ (once in Prime, twice in Corruption as Meta Ridley and Omega Ridley) and a clone of him (Super), not to mention that she also fights a parasitic mutated form of him in Fusion shortly afterward - yet only his encounter in Other M triggers a PTSD attack which renders her helpless until Anthony saves her, which brings me to: 3. How Samus was presented in general really took away from the character that she had built in previous games, the Prime trilogy in particular: she was presented as a tough badass who took shit from no one, which is a drastic contrast to her character in Other M where there were numerous "damsel in distress" scenes, and some pretty unnecessary camera closeups of her assets that added literally nothing to the game. As for the other games in the meantime, what I meant to say is that if another interquel game comes out, maybe bringing something new to the table like Prime did, then I would be more than happy with it, even though what I _really_ would like to see is a Fusion sequel. I've played AM2R several times, and while it's easily my favourite 2D Metroid (tied with Fusion), it also suffers from the "lack of immersion", for lack of a better term, that Zero Mission and Fusion have: as handheld games they were designed to be able to be picked up and played for short bursts and can be completed 100% in just a few hours, and if you only have a spare 10 minutes you can usually get something done if you pick up and play. I'm not saying that this takes away from AM2R's experience - it's clear, at least to me, that it was designed to play in this manner - but just that it doesn't feel as immersive as the Prime games do. In any Prime title you have to play for a good half hour at least to get _anything_ done, and the total game if you're going for 100% can take several hours - my best time for Prime is around the 10 hour mark for 100%. Compare that to Fusion, where I normally get the whole game done in around three to four hours with 100%. I get that there is still a huge fanbase for the 2D games, myself included, but I feel that games that are longer, more immersive and more story-driven, much like the Prime titles, are the way to go with future Metroid releases, and that a Prime-level of those factors can't be executed just as well with a 2D title. If Nintendo or anyone making a fan game wants to prove me wrong I'll happily stand corrected, but until that day comes that's how I see it all. Damn, I really can go on about Metroid all day...
Oh Johnny Xenoblade Chronicles is an amazing game, it sir, is a journey though. When you start picking it up for the first time its going to be hard to put it down, I highly suggest playing that as its one of my favorite games of all time. I absolutely love it.
@ultimakeymaster Nah, he should play X. It's great and better than Xenoblade in my opinion. He seems to love FFXIV so the MMO nature of X shouldn't turn him off.
X is also great, best open world in a rpg even though the main story isn't too great, the side missions and affinity missions are the meat of the story and world building honestly, and they have the best writing in the game. The first one is something no one should miss.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who made the Sonic Adventure "comparison" with Mario Odyssey's opening. During that part, I basically just started singing Open Your Heart until 'Mr. Video' over here showed his well-rendered face.
Guardian Combination of people not buying the Wii U and/or the Wii U being so underwelming. Also, Splatoon has been out for almost 2 years......it's about time for a sequel.
Super Mario Odyssey looks like they took the idea from The TV show, where they originated from I think Brooklyn, and put it in video game format. And I'm Lovin' the idea! I do agree that it has a "mario is missing" feel, just from the world alone. Still not bad! P.S. Was...was that BOMBERMAN? I can't throw my money fast enough!
Katchip14 No, they need to do a third game and then a kart racer. That's the way it goes. Oh wait... This isn't PlayStation. -Still waiting for UnKarted and the Fast of Us... 😂-
Region locking does affect PC gamers. There are games on the Steam store that can't accessed depending on your region, or a language may be inaccessible to you depending where you are. (You can't purchase the Japanese versions of some Square and Sega games, for example. Probably only affects a very few people, but it is annoying.)
Guess you could say I'm a sony pony. Physical games aren't region locked but digital games you can only purchase if you have an account based the region of the game you want to download and it's the same with DLC which is a colossal pain in the balls.
I remember that with the PS3 when I wanted to get the Japanese versions of ICO/Shadow of the Colossus and Okami. (I study Japanese, so I like to play games in Japanese.) It was disappointing to find out I couldn't purchase those games with a foreign credit card. I'm happy that Nintendo is willing to take my dirty foreign money though, as the Japanese 3DS store accepts US credit cards.
captstrugglebunny Bless you buddy that's the one saving grace it has mercifully it can accept those cards. For me the issue becomes somewhat more apparent with the Playstation Vita a console which I adore but has so many english-asian physical titles that DLC is a constant thing you need to keep cycling through accounts to fix.
Not sure anyone will see this, but with the Suda51 translator, IF I'M CORRECT, it was a translation with specific script and cues. Problem is, Suda51 went off script, and even worse, ad-libbed a *very* obscure japanese joke related to wrestling. Needless to say, that created confusion. I agree that it wasn't very professional, but I wasn't going: "This guy's a shit translator, nintendo why?", I was going: "Poor guy. He's over his head." Point is, don't you guys *dare* harass him on social media or other.
TheLaserSonic That's pretty much it. Some folks don't realize how difficult it is to translate live, japanese sentences are structured differently. I hate that most people are giving him crap while suda was the one to cause confusion.
I probably won't be getting the Nintendo Switch until my birthday, but that's ok because it's very close to the release date for Super Mario Odyssey. XD
Positives: New mainline SMT on console, Odyssey, MK8DX, NMH3, $300 price, Xenoblade 2, Breath of the wild on release date, even ARMS looks super chaotic and fun. Negatives: Handheld battery life, not many confirmed release dates, paid WIFI. Questionable: Ice Cube simulation technology, the awkward translator, Atlus sneaking in MARA in that SMT trailer, sportsportsportsportsportsportsports.
Rasheed Nahra I'm skeptical. On the one hand, the worlds looking really pretty and colourful. On the other, I personally loved everything X did over the original, so if they're going back to the style of the original it's a step back I feel. Also those characters look like ass
greenhillmario same tbh. I'm not a fan of the new art style, and gameplay wise, I prefer X over the original. But getting a sequel to the game is still getting me hype.
For me the battery life didn't bother me too much when I remembered that we could always use those portable charging units with the switch since it has that usb port on it
I don't understand the battery meme. 3DS battery life is literally 3h to 5h. That's in the specs. You can check that right this moment. But no one does, everyone just parrots that Switch is short or that it'll be on for only 2h or something. This thing is better than 3DS in every way - better graphics, screen, USB port to use a power bank if needed...
Yeah, and Zelda is one of the more graphically intensive games. I imagine smaller titles or less intensive ones like Rayman will give you closer to 5h of playtime. So not that bad for a portable, especially compared to 3DS, where you couldn't even use a powerbank if anything came up and you ran out of juice.
ShayminPunk I'm so ready. Though these are gonna be long review given the story lol. (Also, calling it, he doesn't like the OG DS games) also curious if he's gonna use the HD collections or the originals
The battery time ain't that big of an issue since they said it can be powered by a power bank too. It might be tho that it's only capable of slowing down the power drain depending on amps.
As a PC player, I'm a little more open to buying a Nintendo system than a PS4 or XBOX One. Unlike the Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo provides experiences that can't be found on PC. Still waiting to decide if it'll be worth the price, though. I want to try the new Zelda and the new Splatoon, but I need a little more to convince me. I'd like to see a new Metroid game, or a main series Pokemon game built just for the system and its hardware.
John, just to give you some encouragement, I'm a fan of your channel as a more mature and realistic look at things. Most other reviewers are wacky and cartoon-y and as a 30 yr old gamer, finding someone who critiques in a semi-serious manner (the humor is good, bro) I have found refreshing which is why I was interested in your reaction to this console.
If you don't know what you're doing in skyrim, 2 hours is a few side quests and some walking. If you know what you're doing in skyrim, 2 hours is a faction questline. If you're a speedrunner for skyrim, 2 hours is the main questline.
Now that I think about it the vita had a very similar lifespan because of how graphically intense of the games were. More than likely some third-party is probably going to release a stronger battery or something that can be used to charge the Switch while you're on the go like an extended battery or a cable that can be used at an airport.
My thoughts: I'm also a loyal Nintendo fan. Have been since I was 7. I'm not sure if I'll get the console right at launch, but Super Mario Odyssey and sequels to both Splatoon and Xenoblade are certainly intriguing and are probably the games I'm looking forward to most, as well as a Potential Pokemon game. I''m planning on just getting Breath of the Wild for my Wii U.
Well the Switch battery depends on what game you're playing. With something huge like Zelda it'll be 3-5 hours but with something smaller it will definitely be more.
I think the joy con color issue was because they were thinking ahead with the sharing thing. It would be confusing to get which one had which controller (even though you can argue they have different buttons displayed, and yeah you're right, haha)
Playstation 2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Devil May Cry Silent Hill 2 Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy PS2 kicked ass back in the early 2000s.
I don't care if this is the 50 millionth person I've watched talking about their reaction. You are one of the people I was anticipating to see react, and also one of the people I want to see their thoughts on THIS. There's still people who aren't awake that I'm also anticipating to see the Livestream, such as Arlo, Haedox, and Digicade.
Hey Johnny, for the next set of Zelda Reviews, will you be doing Ancient Stone Tablets? I am interested to see how you feel about it. It is quite obscure, but to see you review it would be kinda a surprise. A welcome surprise to me.
CheezeWuz Well yeah people are dumb, but there is no audible difference between Splatoon and "Splatwoon" so it's definitely better to just call it Splatoon 2 in the long run.
Cool thing about this is that any shooters, we can 3D print custom gun controllers to attach. Or even something interesting along those lines. Im going to wait for it after a year. When a few games are already out.
Seriously, this console will reconcile parents and children. How many Sundays did your parents ask you to put the game off because they wanted to watch tv ?
I wouldn't worry about the joy-cons, Johnny. Have you seen the parent controls video that had bowser in it? Bowser's hands are so big he holds his smart phone with two fingers, yet the joy-con fits right in his hands.
I mean the English voices aren't bad. Although I have to admit, the crying for Zelda was better in Japanese then English but that's it. The rest of the English dub seems solid
I'm disappointed tbh. I feel like they fucked up with 32Gigs of space and only like 4 launch title games and Zelda and bomber man are only the cool ones
I personally think the Nintendo Switch will follow the Wii's lead. When it get's released, everyone will buy it, everyone will hype it up... then 2 weeks after using it, they'll get bored of it and just use it as any other console like the PS4/XOne. The only advantage to the Switch compared to the WiiU is 3rd party games are available, but still... I think this hype will die off quickly.
It was probably both. I knew a lot of people (me included) who bought a Wii console and within a month, they never touched it again. I'm being deadly serious. With the WiiU, I only knew one friend who bought it, and even he doesn't play it that much. As for the Switch, it stands a better chance as it's acting a bit more like a console, but not enough to save it I think.
Super Mario Odessey is actually an open world game, like 64 and Sunshine, and I'm so glad it is. An open world structure gave the levels lots more depth, originality and made the more remarkable. It made you feel also less restricted when you got of the main path. I was hyped for the Switch, but Mario Odessey made me want the Switch all the more.
I'm significantly less of a fan of Fire Emblem than Zelda so I'm going to skip Fire Emblem Warriors. The characters are actually the part of Fire Emblem I care about the least
Right I'm not a fan of Fire Emblem so I've never played the game but aren't the characters supposed to be a huge part of it's universe? I'm a Dynasty Warriors guy myself but I assume even if you have a passive interest in FE you must like at least 1 or 2 of the characters?
I don't care. It's probably why I don't get along with Fire Emblem fans. I prefer the gameplay to the melodramatic characters and fan service. They can like whatever they feel like.
PsychoIncarnate Ah I'm with you. That's actually fair enough and honestly why I prefer RPG's where the protagonist is one where you get to choose the name like DQ9. I guess with Fire Emblems main gimmick being permadeath I always thought the attachment was it's characters I may have to check out one of the games assuming I can find any for cheap.
Well you seem like you like fire emblem for gameplay not the actual series... So a fan service game... I mean spin off game, like the warriors spinoffs probably aren't for you.
Completely with you on this one John. I think Odyssey is honestly the game that has me sold on the switch not that Zelda hadn't already but I think Odyssey looks like a beautiful blend of Mario Sunshine, 64 with a hint of Galaxy and I really can't wait to play it.
1 thing noone's really talking about, is this system has huge potential for VR. With 2 separate controllers built in with such (as they market it) incredible motion tracking and haptic feedback, all you'd theoretically need is the headset. Also, I wish it was compatible with Wii and WiiU games. It would make the launch go more smooth. Because all of a sudden, everyone's gonna be limited to a couple generic sub par games and Zelda .-.
It was either watch 20-30 videos from gamexplain talking about 1 single thing in each video. Or watch you condense it down with your thoughts on what you saw. Really there was no contest I was just waiting for your vid XD.
I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan and honestly cannot WAIT for those videos, but Zelda is DEFINITELY enough to hold me over. Much like Nintendo you're having quite the solid line up so far this year Johnny.
9:08 - Oh Goddamn John now I want that too I hope you're proud of yourself >: ( 10:38 - Shit man I thought they were going full Sonic '06 with the setting and as such my stomach dropped at the thought of Mascot Mario interacting with a realistically rendered princess. Oh God no....but then the geometric fruit level popped up and the trailer just completely lost me XD
The battery life is perfectly fine Johnny, the original 3DS had a battery life of 3 to 5 hours, while the 3DS XL had a battery life of 3.5 to 6.5 hours. Even the new 3DS only has a battery life of 3.5 to 6 hours while the new 3DS XL has a battery life of 3.5 to 7 hours. And the 3DS as amazing as it has been is severely under-powered, just look at Pokemon Sun and Moon which push the system to its breaking point when there's more than two Pokemon on screen. So the switch having a battery life of 2.5 to 6 hours while delivering superior performance of the 360 and PS3 era is perfectly respectable. I mean, I still have the original 3DS XL and I play it on the go a lot and the battery life has never given me any trouble. And the switch charges through a USB C port, so even if battery life becomes an issue, charging it on the go should be very easy-nya~
What upsets me is everybody overhyped this conference and now they're saying the console is going to be a flop. This video is a great example at looking at it from an objective perspective, and it makes me less disappointed than some other people's reactions, even if you had negative things to say about it.
I actually wasn't too shocked about the No More Heroes announcement. Suda's said for several years he's been interested in revisiting the series when the time feels right.
I definitely agree with you on the launch lineup. If Zelda, Mario and Splatoon 2 were launch titles, the Switch would be a Day One purchase for me. As it is, I'm getting Zelda on Wii U (poor thing deserves it!) and buying a Switch in late Summer. Great video Johnny!
My "I'll wait till the holiday season to get it." statement remains true. There WILL be a Super Mario Odyssey bundle (maybe with a different color) by then and I WILL get it.
You buy two separate Switches and you're going to have two blue left joy cons and two red right joy cons. Also ARMS is in spring. If you know what I mean.
You know, I don't really know how I feel about you reviewing SS. I mean, it is my favorite, and I'm glad you're reviewing it, but on the other hand, I'm pretty sure I know what you think of it?
First video I watch in the morning of my birthday is: A Somecallmejohnny video. Nice start to the day. Turning the big 21 now finally.

Maybe that's part of the reason I like Johnny's reviews in general as well.

"What's the harm in voice acting in Zelda"
DO YOU NOT RECALL THE CDI?
TheSuckySix and people dont seem to like it in this one either.
TheSuckySix I very much do, and unless Nintendo goes full "get English speakers in Japan to act" we don't have to worry
Johnny said it a while ago that Nintendo needs to get the fuck over that. And they did.
...Who? People are excited for the voice acting here I've seen.
Get the fuck over the CDI games. they happened TWO DECADES AGO.
Is everyone getting Sonic Adventure vibes from Odyssey?
I'll be honest I was getting 06 vibes due to the realistically proportioned humans and world but... oddly enough I actually kind of liked that design in this game.
cynical perks yes.
Adam The Gamer And Pimp Bowser. You can't hate on Pimp Bowser
Cellisperfect I know right? We maybe going to NYC but first we're stopping in Vegas peach. Actually now I think of it if Bowser is trying to marry Peach this game is giving me slight waynes world vibes too.
i definitely did, Mario isnt really the type of game to be in a city setting, you mostly get that with Sonic, but i am excited for Odyssey.
There were multiple translators. Bill Trinen (the guy standing next to the FIFA dude) is really good, but some of the other ones weren't.
Why'd the Fifa dude look like he wanted to murder everyone in that room?
Honestly, I thought the EA guy was about to talk about Madden but I forgot this was actually from a *Japanese* conference.
UltimaKeyMaster To be fair I don't think you need to worry. If a piece of shit like NBA 2K17 made it onto the Switch then Madden should be a given.
Adam The Gamer Sports titles always get a bad rep, but there's always a lot of good content & fun game modes for those titles.
Cody Smith Oh yeah man I play Fifa all the time love the career mode it's actually gotten bizzarely decent in 17. =) I they bring some original IP's to the switch I'm still undecided on it.

vgmaster02 Too bad 3'll be on the PS7. (I sound like I'm trolling, but I just can't wait too much longer, myself.)
Why did you even worry about making this. Portable chargers exist smh. The beginning of this vid made me cringe
They said the Switchs life will depend on the GAME as well, so you might have games you really wanna play that get 2 hours at launch and slowly comes down as the rechargeable battery slowly weakens.

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny....
You have no idea what you've been missing out on with Xenoblade Chronicles.
You say the music is fantastic, trust me. the original game's soundtrack will make your ears melt like hot candle wax.
My favorite RPG of all-time!
Edit: 2nd favorite now. (Damn you, Persona 5! Why do I love you so much?!?)
Xenoblade X also has some fantastic tracks, but it's more hit-and-miss than the original (in a lot of ways, actually...).
gmaster2647 agreed.
Xenoblade X's soundtrack is mostly meh.
but when they have a good track it is SOOOO FREAKING GOOD.

But then they'd called it _Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, AND Switch_.
Rebrand it as Smash 4. Everyone calls it Smash 4.
Keegan Blade your picture fits ur comment perfectly lol

If they show me a Metroid Fusion sequel I'll buy 10 of the damn things
Anything Metroid related revealed?

Luke Iannello Well, I suppose I can go on as long about Banjo-Kazooie.
Oh Johnny Xenoblade Chronicles is an amazing game, it sir, is a journey though. When you start picking it up for the first time its going to be hard to put it down, I highly suggest playing that as its one of my favorite games of all time. I absolutely love it.
...Also he can safely skip X in my opinion.
PixxelTrixx HOLY CRAP PIXXELTRIXX!
It took me about 3 minutes to realize the ice cube metaphor was to explain the precise rumble. That confused me for so long.
It didn't confuse me, I was just confusing myself wondering what the fuck the name of that kind of technology is when you get such detailed feedback.
Apparently, it's called HD Rumble.
I got it instantly, you guys are just dumb.
jk, I'm sure you're fine :P
I understood what they went for, but... Ice cubes? Really?
It seemed fairly obvious to me
It was a decent presentation, I don't really see a reason to get a Switch at launch but I'll definitely buy one at some point.
ThatOneShyguy isn't breath of the wild realised on launch day? seems like a good reason to buy on launch
@1yoshi426
Yea but I have a Wii U, and buying an entire system for one game is kind of silly.
Like John said, if you're crazy about Zelda, then yeah you would probably get it at launch.
Yeah by holiday 2017 it'll have a bunch of huge 1st parties and 3rd parties/indies, so you should wait til then.
I'll buy it because ARMS and Zelda.
MK8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 hype!
I'm gonna be honest, I'm more hyped for Splatoon 2
Guardian yeah dude
Guardian Combination of people not buying the Wii U and/or the Wii U being so underwelming.
Also, Splatoon has been out for almost 2 years......it's about time for a sequel.
Bearded Russian new battle mode?
I don't know, I mean we haven't had a good battle mode since ds. Plus who said it is 60 dollars?
Some of the translators sound either bored, distracted or baked out of their minds.
SleepyEspurr if he was high, it would be more entertaining
Super Mario Odyssey looks like they took the idea from The TV show, where they originated from I think Brooklyn, and put it in video game format.
And I'm Lovin' the idea!
I do agree that it has a "mario is missing" feel, just from the world alone. Still not bad!
P.S. Was...was that BOMBERMAN? I can't throw my money fast enough!
Boston...? Uh, you mean Brooklyn?
Jade Radiance The Mario Bros. are from Brooklyn, New York.
UltimaKeyMaster So I fucked up on the locale, cut me some slack.
Jade Radiance I have fallen in love with Super Mario Odyseey
Super Bomberman S looks VERY good.
The Translator towards the end sounded like he was about to cry.
Gaming Overload i felt bad lol
Probably the best reaction/switch recap video out there. Very chill and detailed. Thank you.
It's not NMH3, he just said Travis is coming back in some project for the switch.
hirotocrash What else would it be?
x Ridlay No More Heroes Kart Racer
x Ridlay smash bros
Katchip14
No, they need to do a third game and then a kart racer. That's the way it goes. Oh wait... This isn't PlayStation.
-Still waiting for UnKarted and the Fast of Us... 😂-
It's NMH3 now lolol
He's over his head."
Point is, don't you guys *dare* harass him on social media or other.
TheLaserSonic That's pretty much it. Some folks don't realize how difficult it is to translate live, japanese sentences are structured differently. I hate that most people are giving him crap while suda was the one to cause confusion.
TheLaserSonic where did you get this info? Just wondering
www.reddit.com/r/nintendo/comments/5npra0/a_japanese_speakers_take_on_the_switch/
TheLaserSonic thank you
I probably won't be getting the Nintendo Switch until my birthday, but that's ok because it's very close to the release date for Super Mario Odyssey. XD
Zero's Channel What's holiday 2017?? I'm not familiar with such dates. is it near December?
Double A Animations Close to Christmastime, yeah.
Damn it. Such a long wait. I was thinking of getting the switch for my birthday... it's on March. Welp I'll atleast have zelda
Project Sonic will be released around that time as well lol.
Justin Elem That, or it will be delayed again for the sake of making a good game.
Very beefy and in depth reaction Johnny, Always a pleasure, I hope I get to too many games this year so I can meet you in person!
All i need to say is: XENOBLADE 2 HYPE
Rasheed Nahra no
yes
Rasheed Nahra I'm skeptical. On the one hand, the worlds looking really pretty and colourful. On the other, I personally loved everything X did over the original, so if they're going back to the style of the original it's a step back I feel.
Also those characters look like ass
How do they look like?
Like the gays in FF15?
Also being sceptical and im not gonna buy the switch in first place.
greenhillmario same tbh.
Pan Rysownik no gimmick either like 3D
Well, you could argue the 3DS is easier to carry around.
iownalx23 The Switch is a walking gimmick in itself.
Nintendo say that you can get 3h of battery while playing Zelda
Yeah, and Zelda is one of the more graphically intensive games. I imagine smaller titles or less intensive ones like Rayman will give you closer to 5h of playtime. So not that bad for a portable, especially compared to 3DS, where you couldn't even use a powerbank if anything came up and you ran out of juice.
There was a HD Rumble feature that apparently conveys really realistic feelings.
Hey ! this is all amazing ! oh, by the way, Sonic Mania was confirmed for the Switch !
The city in SMO is called New Donk City, according to a banner in the first couple minutes.
Don't worry Johnny, Kingdom Hearts fans are used to waiting.
ShayminPunk I'm so ready. Though these are gonna be long review given the story lol. (Also, calling it, he doesn't like the OG DS games) also curious if he's gonna use the HD collections or the originals
your next line is: omg! a johnny video at 3 am.
Pat D Smith omg! a johnny video at 3 am. N-Nani?!?
Pat D Smith OH MY GODDDDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I saw a Johnny Video at 3 am and I JIZZ IN MY PANTS!
Appropriate since Bowser looks like Speedwagon.
Is this a [JoJo Reference]
You thought you were getting Sonic Adventure, BUT IT'S-A ME! MARIO!
You thought this'd be your PlayOfTheGame, but it was me, Bastion!
The battery time ain't that big of an issue since they said it can be powered by a power bank too. It might be tho that it's only capable of slowing down the power drain depending on amps.
YES!!! PORTABLE CHARGERS EXIST. VIDEOS OF PEOPLE MOCKING THE BATTERY LIFE MAKES ME CRINGE
Your reaction and BSC are the only ones I really care about TBH XDD
Joycon sounds like a knock off system controller.
I'm guessing because it sounds so similar to Jogcon, a racing controller for the PS1
Ryan Amberger weegeecons
Ryan Amberger #JOYCONBOYZ
Ben Link #MAMALUIGI
Ryan Amberger wasn't there a Wii ripoff called the joycon?
If you don't know what you're doing in skyrim, 2 hours is a few side quests and some walking.
If you know what you're doing in skyrim, 2 hours is a faction questline.
If you're a speedrunner for skyrim, 2 hours is the main questline.
Late night? Try 4am for us in the U.K. -_-
Likewise here my awesome initialed friend =)
Aaron Anthony I missed the whole thing.
Aaron Anthony nobody cares about the UK it's gay
the 2 hours is more than enough for me. I'm mostly going to be only using the portable function during my hour lunch breaks at work.
before this ive been watching etikas reaction
Ruxack ;! same
Ruxack ;! me too
Ruxack ;!
J O Y C O N B O Y Z
Yes... but charging for online when Pokemon is on the table when fans already have to pay for PokeBank...that is not gonna go down well.
I think at that point pokebank will be part of the main service or something like that
mineerthegamer I hope so. That said looking at the switches battery life I'm not entirely sure the next game would be released on the switch.
Launch lineups usually suck. Was there ANY console that had a good launch lineup as opposed to one good game.
I'd rather have one really good game as opposed to several disposable titles at launch. That's just me, though.
Katie Baily Yeah the dreamcast
Playstation 2.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
Devil May Cry
Silent Hill 2
Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy
PS2 kicked ass back in the early 2000s.
Katie Baily Dreamcast
*****
You're not a launch title.
Going to be interesting to see what the Switch. I have not cared about Nintendo in years but it would be nice to be able to support them again.
Chain Chomp hands for arms plz
I don't care if this is the 50 millionth person I've watched talking about their reaction. You are one of the people I was anticipating to see react, and also one of the people I want to see their thoughts on THIS. There's still people who aren't awake that I'm also anticipating to see the Livestream, such as Arlo, Haedox, and Digicade.
Anyone who actually takes that out deserves to be robbed
Glowop The same thing could be said for smart tablets honestly.
MultiCool55 Tablets are pretty common nowadays, a home game console outside on the other hand...
Real DNA It seems like it's basically a Nintendo tablet, that comes with a controller, and can link to your tv with the dock
The only thing you didn't address that I'm curious about is how do you feel about Nintendo now charging for online services?
Otherwise great video!
Still no Metroid game or Super Metroid HD :c
Well, AM2R exists at least.
***** Yea :3
Steel Crescent Don't matter what someone does- when something is on the internet, it never leaves.
Yup.
Steel Crescent Have you played Shantae? That might fill the void.
Mario Adventure NX: Director's Cut is the name I called Super Mario Odyssy when I first saw the trailer.
I was planning on buying a ps4 this year but I kinda wanna get a switch now
FUNKAPELLA 321 get the ps4, cheaper, more games, will still be around and have new games being made for it in 2018
Adam Michael yeah but I want zelda, smash, and mario
Adam Michael Xbox and PS don't have Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Splatoon etc.
FUNKAPELLA 321 Get one then.
Alrighty then I will
I can't believe you didn't say anything about Spring Man (Megaman 7) being in Arms.
Mario Odyssey: The Minish Cap
Many thanks John for getting the news out about No More Heroes 3. It's been far to long since the second game.
Windwaker is my favourite Zelda game but maybe breath of the wild could change that
Same..
Hey Johnny, for the next set of Zelda Reviews, will you be doing Ancient Stone Tablets? I am interested to see how you feel about it. It is quite obscure, but to see you review it would be kinda a surprise. A welcome surprise to me.
And what's the price for the switch in europe?
I don't about the rest of Europe, but it's £280 in the UK
Okay
Because I am from Europe
It'll probably be like, 3000 DKK
In the Netherlands it is 329 Euros.
You can actually a use an Android battery pack with the Switch.
I work at a game store... Splatwoon fun ya but people are stupid a "2" will work way better
Spla2oon
CheezeWuz Well yeah people are dumb, but there is no audible difference between Splatoon and "Splatwoon" so it's definitely better to just call it Splatoon 2 in the long run.
SPLA2N
Cool thing about this is that any shooters, we can 3D print custom gun controllers to attach. Or even something interesting along those lines. Im going to wait for it after a year. When a few games are already out.
Seriously, this console will reconcile parents and children. How many Sundays did your parents ask you to put the game off because they wanted to watch tv ?
...That was already the gimmick of the Wii U though.
But now you can take it ANYWHERE!
UltimaKeyMaster Wii u was like portability but with an invisible cord. lol.
Also the Switch screen is self-sufficient. It doesn't require a TV screen unlike many Wii U games like Zelda Wind Waker.
I wouldn't worry about the joy-cons, Johnny. Have you seen the parent controls video that had bowser in it? Bowser's hands are so big he holds his smart phone with two fingers, yet the joy-con fits right in his hands.
Lol so true
Hey at least if the american voice acting sucks on Zelda we can switch it to japanese?
pun intended, and at least I hope we can, I'm loving the voice acting for the Japanese dub already
Colorblindgiraffe Weeb
Smasher 1303 Damn straight
Same, I love the voices.
And if you can't you can just buy the Japan version because NO REGION LOOOOCK!
I mean the English voices aren't bad. Although I have to admit, the crying for Zelda was better in Japanese then English but that's it. The rest of the English dub seems solid
You couldn't buy two Switches to get two blue or red joy cons. The left and right ones are different. Can't just use two right joycons.
I'm disappointed tbh. I feel like they fucked up with 32Gigs of space and only like 4 launch title games and Zelda and bomber man are only the cool ones
gamecreaterdude13 I popped in on the tree house and they were showing off a 256 gig sd card
gamecreaterdude13 not to mention you can get them on wii u anyway so why bother buying a new system if you have wii u
That 32 gigs of space was only a rumor.
Adam Michael not many people have a wii u. one of the reasons why it died lmao
It's only the 3rd or 4th reaction, but GameXplain has like 700 videos uploaded about it.
Review huniepop!
watch them ship it without a power adapter, like this isn't even a joke, they'll probably fucking do that.
That wasn't the Wii's lead, that was the Wii-U's lead.
But yes, I agree. This system is doomed to mediocrity.
Damian Freeman not this time.
We can't gauge how it will do until it's out. Im interested to how it will be received though. I'm digging that Mario game, it looks pretty sweet.
Advantage of the Switch over the Switch?
I like character classes, but not specific characters themselves
PsychoIncarnate Ah I'm with you. That's actually fair enough and honestly why I prefer RPG's where the protagonist is one where you get to choose the name like DQ9. I guess with Fire Emblems main gimmick being permadeath I always thought the attachment was it's characters I may have to check out one of the games assuming I can find any for cheap.
Well you seem like you like fire emblem for gameplay not the actual series... So a fan service game... I mean spin off game, like the warriors spinoffs probably aren't for you.
'We're all a fun bunch of people. We don't bite. Ted might. '
Haha
Was a very poor show.
You can actually play ARMS with traditional controls
Two best friends reaction check, some call me Johnny check, now I wait for brainscratchcomms
You should try playing SMT, Johnny.
You'll rage a few times, but it's all part of the fun.
I recommend Nocturne.
this is probably my favorite game review channel ever.
Completely with you on this one John. I think Odyssey is honestly the game that has me sold on the switch not that Zelda hadn't already but I think Odyssey looks like a beautiful blend of Mario Sunshine, 64 with a hint of Galaxy and I really can't wait to play it.
You're about the only person with sensible opinions on this atm. Excellent video!
6:20 but if you buy two different Switch's wouldn't you get two of the same left and right color controllers?
I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan and honestly cannot WAIT for those videos, but Zelda is DEFINITELY enough to hold me over. Much like Nintendo you're having quite the solid line up so far this year Johnny.
Actually you're only the second one in my sub box for a switch reaction, and the first i actually cared to watch.
9:08 - Oh Goddamn John now I want that too I hope you're proud of yourself >: (
10:38 - Shit man I thought they were going full Sonic '06 with the setting and as such my stomach dropped at the thought of Mascot Mario interacting with a realistically rendered princess.
I really enjoyed your reaction video. It was the most down to earth... without someone about to end.... :-P keep it up bro
So did you get the bundle?
seriously when is the Sonic Advance Trilogy review gonna be done
I called it! Hahaha!
For some reason I was expecting you to say "Holy shit" when reacting to Super Mario Odyssey. That was also my reaction.
