i’m getting my first e drum kit and these videos have helped more than you know, a qualified person giving their honest opinion. love it. i’m going with the titan 50, thank you.
Congrats! And thanks for the compliment.
Thanks for these vids Keithron. Truly appreciate you doing this. They really helped me make a decision. I just bought the Titan 50 at my local GC currently on sale for $399 until 8/31 its a steal! The module, snare size and sounds can't be beat at this price IMO
You’re welcome
Just bought the Titan 50 yesterday after watching all of your video reviews about it - great energy bro, very well made content, cheers!
Awesome, congrats and thanks for watching
Perfect comparison video. Back to back drum sounds.
Thanks
Wow! Nice breakdown! I bought the Alesis nitro mesh kit as a practice kit for my apartment. For the most part I think it's great for that but that Simmons kit is sounding pretty good. Excellent video! Thanks!
Thanks and congratulations. The Alesis is nice but Simmons just stepped up their game!
@@KeithronPowell Agreed!
These were the two options at my local shop and this video made the choice clear for me. Titan 50 for the win. I've watched a few more of your follow up videos and they've been really helpful. Thank you sir!
You’re welcome
I was gifted the Nitro Mesh a couple years ago. I loved it, and even convinced my church at the time to go with an Alesis kit (the Crimson II). It was good that I had learned how to solder as between both kits, I had to fix triggers.
Fast forward to now: my current church has a Simmons SD9K which I gifted to them (and have greatly expanded), and I gave my Nitro to a buddy of mine who had no means to practice at home. I did switch out the SD9K rubber pads with the Nitro Mesh pads,I like how they feel. Almost every original recording on my UA-cam channel was done using the Nitro, but recently I began using the SD9K. I noticed with the Simmons that my EQ levels on my mixing board greatly altered the sounds, making them sound pretty rough. Upon putting every knob to flat, the kit sounds amazing! That was how much EQing I had to do for the Nitro to get it to sound good on my recordings, not to mention all the additional effects I had to add in my recording program.
I am really dying to get my hands on the Titan 50 to continue my recording endeavors, and I've been watching all of your videos about it. I love that in this one, you've compared it to a kit with which I have a lot of experience. I just remember playing an SD350 at Guitar center and thinking how cheap and flimsy the pads and mesh felt. Has the build quality gotten better on this kit in terms of how the pads feel?
The 350 is/was a cheap feeling set. The Titan 50 replaces it but it’s almost overkill as a replacement. It is just as good as the SD600 and in some ways better. I really think they match up well and there are reasons to use either. Wow, you’ve had a lot of experience with Alesis. I think they can be lever hyped. When I put the Alesis Nitro against the Titan50 I could tell that the Nitro was old. Thanks for your comment and watching.
I ended up with the Titans.. I am very pleased and your reviews were very helpful in making the decision. I was headed for Alesis but yours and others reviews convinced me otherwise. I’m having so much fun rebooting my drum playing since selling my skins four years ago.
Awesome, thanks and congratulations!
Thanks much for your videos on the Titan 50. Excellent! The only problem I am having is the high hat cymbal is way too soft compared to the other two cymbals. Can the volume on the high hat cymbal be separately increased?
Would greatly appreciate your advice on this.
Yes…you can. It can be done in the module but it’s easier on the app. The app now works on Android so you should be good there.
Just moved and started looking into an affordable e-kit to better fit in my new space both to practice and to record with. Your videos have been super helpful, and I'm 95% sold on the Titan 50 (making time to go into a Guitar Center to play and make sure). However, I've got an Android phone and Simmons still doesn't have an Android version of the app. Can you tweak the Simmons sounds within the module itself, or do you have to go through the app to get the most out of this kit? Thanks, and Go Blue!
Everything can be done in the module. Also… they have a new kit that just dropped. ua-cam.com/video/Uo1Xz63fm3U/v-deo.html
Just in time for shopping season
Of course… no need in dropping them mid summer. They wanna make money so they wait till the right season
YES !!!!!
Lol
Please! Use headphones, I kind of hated the Simmons on my phone speakers, but it's great on in ears.
You have to!! Agreed! If you’ve got some nice headphones you’ll really enjoy them. The Titan is crazy though.
Question: Are you satisfied with the Titan 50s snare ability to do different kinds of rim shots? (I mean, it sounded good to me, but I'm a beginner/intermediate player.)
👍🏽 yes I am
So i got the Simmons titan 20 i wanted to Titan 50 is there a way i could order the module to the 50 and connect it the 20 or would you recommend to buy the full titan 50 kit? The 20 sounds ok just very limited with sounds compared to my Yamaha Dtx 402k
Yes you can order the module separately on the site.
I have the surge same as nitro module. It sounds more crisp to me. Not only that the feel is great. Also am adding EZ drummer 3 which makes a world of difference in both drums.
Agreed EZDrummer is dope! I’m going to go live one of these days with the Nitro and also the discontinued Crimson II. I have to admit the set up of the Crimson feels amazing. I’m hoping Simmons bites that feel. This Sunday I’m doing the Titan 50.
have you noticed any latency with the titan 50 hi hat pedal?
I haven’t
If you had to choose the Alesis surge or the titan 50?
@KeithronPowell
Titan 50
To me the nitro mesh kit sounds like keyboard drums.
😂
Is there a reason on why you prefer the titan 50 over the alesis?
🤔 Did you watch the videos (plural)? It is better in every way. I mean…. Every way.
@@KeithronPowell 😅
I take it you added to the kit or did it come like that?
Yes I have the expansion kit added. You can add more and I did a video on that as well
I’m torn between the Titan 50 and the SD600, which is better?
I say go with the Titan
Or the SD600…. 😂
@@KeithronPowell ok then I’ll go with the Titan , thank you for the advise
The Titan 50 sounds way more like an authentic rock drum set.
Yeah… I think it sounds great.
@@KeithronPowell Thanks so much for both of your comparison videos on these sets. Because i was just about to waste my money on the Alesis when the Titan 50 gives you a much better overall set for the money. I also love the accordion foldout rack for easy setup. That also is a huge bonus in my book. However, i would love to see you compare the Titan 50 to Roland’s cheaper TDK set.
@@Xcorgi thanks and I’m hoping to do that too
What snare setting sounds the closest to the Saint Anger snare?
You got me! 🤷🏽♂️
@@KeithronPowell He is trolling...
@@MrBeen992 😂😂😂well he needs to know that’s your job and we don’t have any other openings! 😂😂😂
@@KeithronPowell hey, man ! I dont troll. I gave you constructive criticism regarding the video sound. And you have improved and I recognized that
@@MrBeen992 you just hadn’t seen the other vids but I was kidding about you trolling.
Why did you change the Titan 50 Kick pad ?
Imma do a video on that too… I wanted this to be about the sounds so I didn’t mention it. Stay tuned
The Nitro Mesh had terrible sounds. I got rid of mine.
Some of the ones that are supposed to be natural are over saturated
@@KeithronPowell 👍🏻
My ears tell me that the Titan 50 sounds flat and dull
🤔 either new ear are necessary or new headphones. 😂😂😂 just kidding. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. What are you listening on? And what did you think of the Alesis? What are you comparing to?
The Alesis sounds more realistic like my acoustic drums
@@everettbarnes3203 this brings up the point I made in another video. It’s all about what you like and or know about acoustic. To me many of the sounds of the Alesis are toy like. They tried to recreate the sound of the sticks hitting and I can tell. I use pinstripe heads on my drum and it gives a dark heavy sound. That’s the sound I like with the SIMMONS. The Alesis recreates sounds and gives them different names. The snare on kit one is used multiple times whereas I can distinctly hear the difference in the sounds of the simmons snares….
I have something special coming which I think will truly show what I’m saying. Stay tuned and thanks for your comments
@@KeithronPowell I use the 16 user kits with the Alesis nitro mesh kit because I expanded it. With the user kits you can change pitch and reverb and make the drums sound like pinstripes or ambassadors
@@everettbarnes3203 makes sense… I’m dealing with the stock sounds… the Simmons sounds more like those pinstripes out the box. I’m waiting on the Titan Packs to see what they bring. I’m sure all the drums sound amazing with the user sets… but out the box…😏
