“I don’t think Barney Kessel would want me to play it like this…” 😂😂😂
Barney never played that model...doubt his Gibson signature either.
Maybe Barney Kessel wouldn't...But we sure don't mind 🙂🙂🙂
I'm a heavy metal guy but Joe Bonamassa blows my mind in ways no metal guitarist ever could. Complete mastery over the instrument. Amazing talent.
10,000 hour rule (and then some Im sure)
Obviously practice mattets, but 10,000h is 40 hours per week for 10 years. At 10 years old joe was already a better guitarist than I will ever be.
It’s called playing with an ACTUAL melody and feel…not how many shitty notes you can play per second…that dumb shit is forgotten as soon as I hear it…but with REAL guitarists their licks/solos stay with you FOR LIFE
@@bryanstrader1740 not many these days in that calibre, for sure. Joe kicks serious fckin ass. Dangerous Dan levels of skill, with the humility too
@@timcorbridge6772He is humble and shows his humility too. I’ve been to a couple of his concerts and during one of his amazing solos someone yelled out “You’re the greatest guitarist ever “ and Joe shook his head no and pointed at Josh Smith who plays rhythm guitar at some of Joe’s concerts. In my book they are both incredible musicians! Thank you Joe and Josh for giving me something to aim for! ( Never happen but it’s worth trying)
That nephew joke never gets old or funny.
He doesn't say it to be funny. It's love.
it's great to see Norm so healthy and good looking! Greetings from Germany
I wanna say that Norm looks great.
The random Prong sticker on the shelf in the back is AWESOME!!!!!!
Always love seeing Joe B., I love this guy, Thanks Norm, for doing fantastic videos, interviews, etc.
so sweet to hear jen's voice, she lets you know she's there. and a about time they bring in someone different 4 a change. uncle and nephew lol...
I've been wanting to ask that for some time : Who is Jen exactly ?
I hear her cheerful voice every time I watch these videos...
Ооо и снова Джо, очень приятно видеть его на канале Норма! Здоровья парням и побольше видео с Джо! 🔥👍👍👍
Hey Joe - 33 years go by real fast. You’ll be playing when you’re 80.
Ole Bo jonamassa can play that thang!!
That particular model is the Kay K6700S Artist. The larger model you spoke of was the K8700S Jazz Special. These models were reissued some years ago by the current owner of the Kay name.
Joe's the best! Always interesting, talented and humble.
Love it! Ralph and Norton hamming it up.
Guitar sounds freaking awesome 😮
It is so great to see Joe Bonamassa at Norm's. Joe and Norm are so approachable and relaxed, and it is so nice to see Norm, who looking great!
The condition of this guitar is frightening.™️.....right Norm?🎶🎸😮👍
I love that headstock! It just screams 50s 👍
50s kitchenette headstock
I've seen him 4 times and can't wait for next spring. 💙🎸🎶🎤❤️
love Joe see him everytime he comes to shreveport. love your show Normk
Nice that you seem to have a family atmosphere that works well together 👍🏼
Sooooo glad to hear the one and only Jen back in the house … you have been missed..😎😎
Can you imagine a remake of this guitar in a slim body?? Geezz
K672 is very close to that.
Yeah!
Thank you both!
Thanks for the video.
Barney Kessel is a total Legend and man that Kay is in such good condition..
My Dommie was a (slightly modded) Seventies 50 watt with the 15" Spider Back, I went back in for my Strat and left with my hair on fire..
These Norm / Joe sit downs are a treat and Wacky Wednesday a great day for it 😎❤.
I’ve got the Kay Jazz II reissue, I love it, even the funky headstock.
I think Joe is the real deal, don't knock him because he's the best.thanks norm for a great show.hello from Poland.😊
What a beauty guitar! 🎸✔️
OMG, Norm is your uncle! So cool! Now i know why you have single handedly scored all the best Les Pauls lol.
Great to see Norm in his element !
And Joe is always good to converse.
pure gold...
I loved hearing Joe when he performed on “Lazy “ with a a whole group of other greats in the studio. If you want to rock out, take a listen to that video,it’s amazing in my opinion. I’m just shy of 80 and I still enjoy hearing them.
What a beautiful guitar, looks and sound
What a GORGEOUS guitar
AWESOME !!😊
Sounds incredible!
I want joe to play us part of a song that suits the guitar . We all know how great he is . But i want some pretty barney type passages , the way only joe might know . How cool would that be .
❤me and disc jockey extraordinare, Candi Chamberlain, sat next to your parents in San Jose Joe!! We love you!!
Can't wait to see JB in Brazil next month!!! 🤩
Love these videos!
🧡🎶🍀🌷🎶🧡
One of my best friends long since dead had a Kay the shape of a Les Paul single cut hollow body in a dark tobacco color and he had flat wound stings on it. Didn’t care for the old strings but that was a guitar I loved.
Jen , hello, you’re back, thanks, I love the laugh jen, how’s is the baby and husband, ? Thanks Joe and Norman, thanks BigAl California..
Sounds fantastic looks fantastic..... thank you Joe and Norm !!!! P.S
Love that amp too !!!
I had the treat of seeing Bruce Foreman and Pat Bergeson play a month ago. Bruce played a 1946 Gibson with a 1938 Charlie Christian pickup that he inherited from Barney. Pat played a Super 4000 inherited from Chet Atkins. Chet kept that guitar at the ready next to his desk at the studio.
I was just watching ‘your nephew’ on his 1941 000-45 mint find. I saw how you looked and, it seriously made me want to fly to Nevada to shake your hand (forget about being in the best guitar shop in the world) as you looked as enibriated as my father did before…. I had thought it was a new video but it was from a year ago. I was quickly buying my ticket just to meet you. I am so happy to see how you look today. Im sure nobody around realizes as they are around you daily. Keep doing whatever you’re doing. Im only buying the ticket now if i make at least 20K more than I need…. If you’re ever in Montreal… reach out. Much respect and KEEP HEALTHY!
I used to have that exact same Dominator amp!!!...It was my first ever amp!
Sold it with a Peavey T60 in 1979 for £150! 😭😭😭
Another great video - Norm look great, Joe is killer good! from SE Texas Bear
Blues licks blues licks blues licks so impressive. Wouldn't Barney be amazed?
Respect 2 The legend of the stones.
He's doing it again, when Norm starts talking he's plays over him 🤯
hahahaha
I am so happy to see you guys. Branch out into different rare guitars. I mean stratocasters, telecasters and Gibson. Les Pauls Are not exactly rare. Certain models are, but not all of them. I really appreciate you covering these kind Of hot balls.
You look fantastic Norm!!!!!
Sounds great. A quick riff in position 1 or 2 reminded me of the Dominos “Tell the Truth” a song I frequently play around with sans Duane Allman’s unforgettable slide work.
Wow that guitar sounds really good ...tinny sound
To everyone bitching and moaning about Joe and Norm constantly talking over one another during these *Guitar of the Day* videos, I say to you, *"Just dont watch their videos together if it bothers you so much!"*
These two have been interacting this way for a long time, and if either one of them was truly bothered about how the other person was acting I'm positive that they would have said something to the other *A LONG TIME AGO!*
*NEITHER* Joe Bonamassa nor Norman Harris are particularly shy about expressing their opinions, and they genuinely seem to treasure one another's company.
*As far as Joe playing whatever guitar he happens to be holding in his hands over top of someone who's speaking to him just remember that he's NEVER been shy about admitting that he's.....*
*#1,* a huge nerd.
*#2,* suffers tremendously from serious ADHD.
*#3,* is in all likelihood on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum.
*#4,* plays a guitar while being interviewed as a form of both expressing himself as a person, and as a coping mechanism.
*For myself, I find Joe's talking and playing over top of someone else's speech just as annoying as I'm sure everyone who complains about it does. That being said, I learned a long time ago when first attending 12-step meetings, that not only am I not perfect, but that when it comes to anyone else's idiosyncrasies and faults, I had best be tolerant and forgiving because they deserve my tolerance and forgiveness just as much as I do/did for all those times that I managed to piss someone off while I have navigated my way through life.*
*Whenever I watch a Joe Bonamassa interview, especially these Guitar of the Day videos for Norman's Rare Guitars, I remind myself that I don't possess one, one-millionth of Joe Bonamassa's abilities and talent, and that his idiosyncrasies are a SMALL PRICE to pay for GOD allowing me to witness what Joe so freely shares with the world.*
That thing is gorgeous!
Wow nice guitar
"On June 9, 1975 People magazine published an article titled “The Jaggers” that included the following remark from Mick Jagger who was almost thirty-two years old.
Jagger and the Stones have endured at the top longer than any other rock band, but as for the future, Jagger admits that it could all suddenly end. “I only meant to do it for two years. I guess the band would just disperse one day and say goodbye. I would continue to write and sing, but I’d rather be dead than sing Satisfaction when I’m 45.”"
I hear Jen 👍cool guit.
I had a 53 Gretsch Streamliner with a Melita bridge. It was nice to adjust the intonation on the fly.
Slim Harpo-like vibrato tones.🎶🎸👍
‘55 Melita bridge $425. (Used) 55 Kelvinator side by side Food-A-Rama $3000. (restored)
The guitar has the styling of a good 56-57 Chevy... Joe is a funny guy lately.. sure is a good-looking guitar
I’ll be seeing you Oct 30 Mr Bonamassa, Aqua Caliente. I’m begging, please don’t cancel, or reschedule I’ve been waiting so long for my 1st Bonamassa concert.
It will be well worth the wait. I’ve seen him three times. He is a total pro and his band is unreal. Reese Wayan on keyboards? Wow!
Pops Staples Had A Kay Guitar N The Early Years Of The Staple Singers
I had had one some years ago that was like brand new. The guy I bought it from bought it new and never really got into playing guitar - It literally sat under his bed for 40 years before I purchased it. The case was mint, case candy ... Ultimately sold it - Cool to look at but needed a neck set, etc. 'Did make a nice profit, though. 😀
Arte deco headstock vintage Gibson esque sunburst. More affordable way into the vintage market..a blues guitar with a gritty edge harmionically fuzzy and lovely analogue early break up. True blues history in the sophistication and tone.
Speaking of parts - Hofner tailpiece looks just right
Woulda been nice to hear it without the vibrato, but oh well. Always good to see Joe.
Didn't hear a word said & couldn't hear the guitar either, so thanks for that, Joey-Boy....
Couldn't Norm find something to do for a minute so we could hear Joe play?
Has Samantha Fish been in Norman's, if so what episode?
Crazy delay or reverb or whatever but great sound
Bet he got the Martin good vid
You could plug a table lamp into the Watkins and it would sound great.
Whos runnin the camera? Jen??
It’s not the “Car” … it’s the “Driver”! 😎
Bella/Linda.💰✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️
Why do I get the feeling that when (God forbid...) Norm passes, Joe is going to become the owner of Norman's Rare Guitars, and eventually, he'll be selling all of the guitars he bought from Norm?
Clapton had one when he was with the Roosters 👍
And there’s a photo to prove it in the book „ Conversations with E. C
Why no reverb or vibrato?
4 guitars for a 53 Fender amp.?
Laminated woods?
👍✌❤😎
I think with a little more practice, Norm’s nephew will go places.
Don't get me wrong, I love Joe but,,,,, put the guitar down when you're being asked questions or turn the volume off!! It's a bug!!!
I think the bridge pickup needs to come up closer to the strings
The guitars cool✌️But the amp is a great representation of tube sag 🏆✌️
He's just played a k and still has fingers left!...that's a first for me 😂
Stevie Wonder opened for the Stones in 1972
Eric Johnson😂🎉
Joe again?
Young Wacky Joe working up a sweat restringing. 🙂
Come on Joe..throw in a few guide tones for Barney’s ghost
Barney's rolling in his grave ...
Joe could make a Hello Kitty guitar sound like a million dollars…..
Could Norm just let him play?
Joe...Turn off the tremolo please.. Love Ya both!!
Hearing that Jade Macrae is married, I are be very disappoint!
anything about barney kessel??😂🤣
"The blues guys love these." A shame one wasn't available to do the demo on this guitar, huh?
Why did Joey have to play with that heavy tremolo? Was he purposely trying to distract the listeners from his playing?
Who is Joe’s girlfriend now? He left Sandi Thom years ago didn’t he? 🤷🏼♂️
Who cares....
