Funny thing is I can remember it well even though I was only 5 years old. 1983/84 had a very distinctive atmosphere.
This is awesome, but I still here Madness singing it in my head with all the emotion they put in it.

Never seen this before until it popped up on Vintage TV at 5.30am. It's quite good, isnt it? Good old vintage TV. Showing things that aren't rap in a time before rap was a thing that people took seriously.

Tracey probably had connections. In 1985, she was in Girl's On Top, the sitcom, with Jennifer Saunders who worked with and then in 1985 married Ade Edmonson, and Ade was very close to Vyvyan, especially from 1982 to 1984. This song was released in 1983, so they probably all knew each other and Vyv was helping a friend of a friend by letting her use his car.
I wonder if Paul McCartney did the cameo in They Don't Know, from the same album, because Vyvyan made it cool to be connected to Tracey's music videos.

Most pop stars tended to be left-wingers in the 80s and therefore supporters of the Labour Party, and Neil Kinnock had just been elected as the new leader of the party, so Tracey was probably trying to help out with his popularity by including him in the video.
