    Just bought a week ago second hand OLD model ,DM38DAB with original denon speakers The unit is like new and I am really impressed by the sound quality. For me Bluetooth is not a deal breaker as the unit has two aux input , so very easy to connect external Bluetooth device.

    A great improvement over the DM38.
    I was able to connect:
    1) Panasonic TV via Optical (1)
    2) XBox via Optical (2)
    3) Panasonic BD player via RCA, using a cheap DCA converter. Optical (Out) on BD player to DCA, and 3.5mm to RCA cable from DCA to Denon.
    4) Smartphone using BT.
    Using Dali Zensor 1s the sound was far superior than the speakers on the TV.

    This one if definately more superior to the Panasonic SC-PM250. Even though it doesn't have a USB
    this one does have an auxilery input so it can be used with either a record player or a cassette deck.
    If my current system ever fails and I decided to get another micro/mini system I would go for a
    Denon as Denon are really good but in my case I would most likely go for hi fi seperates.

    Thanks for the review. I don't mean to sound stupid but haven't owned a hifi in about 15 yrs... do you buy the speakers separate? Does a lot of the way it sounds not have a lot to do with the speakers you buy rather than the device itself?

    • @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey
      @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey  7 років тому +2

      Hi! Thank you for the feedback. The DM41mini system is indeed a Hi Fi seperate meaning you'll have to get a pair of speakers. The device itself can have an impact, with newer mini systems there tends to be updated hardware specifications offering better sound reproduction.
      The speakers do have a great impact on the sound of course, but there's a cut off point where no matter how expensive the speakers are it won't sound much better due to the mini system itself offering a higher output. Feel free to drop our sales team a call on; 02476 631 707 or drop by our live chat on hifix.co.uk and our sales team can further help you out if needed :)

    I have my DM41 a couple of months now and to be honest I'm a little disappointed with it. The rotary volume control is quite stiff and when I press the mute button on the remote control, the unit makes a loud clicking sound like an internal relay switch is activated. Also, there's a 2 second pause when changing FM preset channels. The unit doesn't feel as 'premium' as I expected . I'm thinking of replacing it with another brand. I've had a few older and less pricy systems that felt nicer to use.

They appear once every dozen minutes and they're very annoying, since I can't fully focus on music. I complained to the store and they sent a new amplifier, but it has the same drawback.

      More precisely: You can stream FLAC Files without Aptx Codec as well, but with reduced Quality (no 16 Bit with Bluetooth). And yes, the difference in Sound is very noticeable, especially with a System like the Denon M41. That's why Aptx Support is so important on good Audio Systems, when you want to stream your Music from a Tablet / Smartphone whatever. Notice: *Both* devices have to support Aptx in order to establish a lossless connection (not just the BT Chip in your System, but also the one in your Smartphone / Tablet). Most cheap Notebooks have no Aptx Support (and it's never mentioned in the specifications), because they use cheap Bluetooth Chips, and stream in lossy SBC Codec.

      It sounds fine, but one thing that puzzles and, frankly, worries me, is that my music sounds significantly better when streamed via Bluetooth than an actual CD. CDs sound flat and lifeless in comparison. How is that possible?

    Hi,will this work when connected to a soundbar via the analog in ?

    • @munmunyee
      @munmunyee 2 роки тому

      2 years late, but analog in means that some other source is feeding in to the receiver. Analog In does not output data, only receives. So either an external CD player, TV output, external DAC, or phono preamp will transmit data to the reciever, which in turn will output on the speaker posts. There is a mono output designed for subwoofers, and you can get a y-splitter to plug into a soundbar, but the sound coming out of the soundbar will be mono, not stereo.

      Frank Harvey Hi Fi Excellence
      Thank you so much for the response. In which case what would be the best way to connect an iPod? I previously had the dm 39 which had a USB port. This was very convenient as it allowed me to use the denon remote and the display panel on the dm 39 displayed the track etc. Ultimately I just want the best sound possible using an iPod as source. I still have the dm 39 and wonder if in your opinion i might be better off back with that ?

    • @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey
      @HifixCoUkFrankHarvey  5 років тому

      @John Mcmanus As the DM41 dosen't have a USB port the only way i can think of connecting an iPod to it is via Bluetooth, but as you mentioned before it can lose sound quality. The DM 39 would probably be your better choice if you want to use USB. If you do want a change it may be worth looking at the Ceol N10 - www.hifix.co.uk/denon-rcdn10-network-mini-system
      If it's just an iPod you want to use we do have an iPod speaker system you can check out www.hifix.co.uk/pioneer-xwnac3-ipod-speaker-system-open-box-white at a great discounted price.

      Press Bluetooth on your controller to switch the input source to “Bluetooth”, when using for the first time, the unit will go into the pairing mode automatically and “Pairing” will appear on the display of the unit.
      Activate the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device.
      Select “Denon RCD-M41” from the Bluetooth device list on your mobile device. Enter “0000” when the password is requested on the screen of the Bluetooth device.
      This will allow you to them play your music on your DM-41, hope it helps. Sorry for the initial confusion.

      Denon isn't Chinese, nor is it made in China either. It's Japanese, and if you didn't know, Japan have high standards, that's why their steel manufacturing is considered one of the best in the world.
      I'm still using my 1996 Denon System, owned for 15 years, I've had it professionally serviced 3x since 2009, the power supply and a few ports on the back, tend to burn out every several years from continuously use, I've probably put thousands of playing time on it.
      Denon really is a good quality company made exclusively in Japan, I'm sorry you've experienced major issues with your modern Denon systems, but please understand, for everyone who's had an issue there's someone who hasn't.
