    Managed to get a new one of these (D-M40DAB) for £80 minus remote (£45)....what a great little machine...real hifi in a shoebox size...sounds better than it should..using the Denon with QA 3020 speakers & AE Aegis 2 Subwoofer...i would have had to pay thousands to get this sound quality years ago

      Just got myself an M40DAB. Cost me £100 for the unit (mint) , £40 for a set of Kef Coda 7's (also mint) and £20 for the speaker wire. There really are some bargains out there from people upgrading atm. Still got yours?

    Is it possible to connect a turntable to the system via RCA?

    Can you also plug in an Andriod device via USB? Or is it just for apple devices?

    I bought this system a couple of weeks ago from argos arndale manchester after a long struggle of deciding as to which hi fi to buy between denon d m40 a Panasonic sc pmx70.
    I went through the review I could find online sadly enough I couldn't find any satisfactory reviews on Panasonic even on youtube. Therefore I Decided to go to curry's to have a sample on Panasonic unfortunately the service wasn't good at all hence I left without sampling let alone seeing, the system then I crossed over to argos and bought my denon, didn't sample it but I had my faith from the reviews I read online and youtube including this video.
    I went home and put the system together I was so astonished by the performance and the sound quality of this hi fi system but I was still unsettled wondering what if Panasonic sc pmx70 was better.
    the best part: a few reviews about Panasonic were posted online on few website, and there were so many cons than pros, people saying the sound system wasn't good enough with 3 or 4 stars.
    So here am I happy with my d m40 and thank you so much for sharing this video.

      Hi Lloyd X, your system still working fine? No CD tray problems?

    • @lloydn2103

      Hi Carlos. Yes it still is, I don't play CDs or FM/DAB radio a lot.
      I only play music from my mp3 player or phone through USB or Analog in.
      I can play music from 3 to 5 hours a day as it is my main source of entertainment and it still working just fine

    I have it a few weeks ago, everything perfect, clean and crisp sound, without distortion, but compared to my previous Onkyo my complaint or what I have noticed "strange" is that after a while of being working, and especially at a certain volume I notice that it is It heats up the chassis, especially the right side, I have modular hifi amplifiers and it doesn't get as hot as a hifi rack amp but I don't remember the previous Onkyo getting that hot.
    My question is: Is it normal? Can the temperature it reaches affect the discs? I deduce that if the chassis is hot it is to cool the interior as much as possible?

    • @jetstream454
      @jetstream454 Рік тому

      I think thats where the power supply would be if that's the side of the power cord, so could be normal depending how hot it's getting.

    • @marvinmurakami8828
      @marvinmurakami8828 Рік тому

      It depends on what class amp it has. Class A amps tend to run hottest, followed by Class A/B. Class D and H amps run much cooler.
      My Onkyo AV receiver I bought about 10 years ago has a Class A/B amp. I sat another component right on top of it and even with the receiver off, it got hot enough to fry an egg. This was in the summer when room temps were high.

      @@marvinmurakami8828 Receiver should always go on top??

    • @marvinmurakami8828
      @marvinmurakami8828 Рік тому

      @@jetstream454 you want to give the amp as much ventilation as possible to keep it cool and extend its life. The vents are there for a reason. Class A amps run hottest because when turned on, they run full power even with no signal going through it.
      Class D and H amps usually run cool. Even when playing loud music for hours, they only get warm to the touch so it should be OK to sit a component on top of them.

    • @jetstream454
      @jetstream454 Рік тому

      @@marvinmurakami8828 Thats what I mean, and if something like the DM41 has vents on top that to me indicates it shouldn't have anything placed on top that would cover the vents 🤔

    No Bluetooth? That's a deal-breaker and damn a shame, because it's a gorgeous little system and just what I'm after. But what year does Denon think it is? Once you get hooked on the convenience of Spotify from your mobile, you can't go back.
    I've been wanting a small system that has both Bluetooth and DAB radio. Any suggestions?

      +pa gus: Thanks, just my audiophile and music fan curiosity.
      I read on the "what hifi" review that Denon improved the same DAC 192khz/32bit or whatever so you can play FLAC and AAC music files from USB stick (which is a good thing, maybe the only reason to upgrade). I don't care about another digital IN port which I don't need.I've had the Dm39 for almost a year now (well before DM40 came out) with dali zensor 1 speakers (not the Denon ones!!!) and to me it sounds amazing. Again the only thing missing is the FLAC playback capability. Other than that perfect!

      +Virussella Ok virussella for myself I just use cd and fm because I m >40, I have a panasonic sc-pmx7,it is very good for the price but not enough audiophile for classical I hear,so I look to the dm40.

    Sadly, the tuner on my machine has malfunctioned and is stuck on one channel, and I cannot change it. This did not happen on my earlier model. Anyone have a solution.

    If I hook this up from my pc soundcard to the "analog in" or "spdif out" on the back of the denon unit, will it use the DAC?
    I'd like to use this unit as a cd player, and for playing flac files from my pc...

    • @munmunyee
      @munmunyee 4 роки тому

      SPDIF will use the dac on the reciever, analog will use the dac on your soundcard, to my knowledge.

      The newer units are made in Vietnam. If that's any better. The days when Japanese audio systems were actually made in Japan are long gone.
