Great video with the usual excellent Park formula, but that dietary cocktail had me reaching for the gaviscon and the antihypertensives! There should be a word for none condensation sticky materials!
Tent is very interesting, as you say, more outings required. I love these quickie overnights so much I did one yesterday. I must say I am converted to the Uco lanterns, created a cosy atmosphere while I got outside of a bottle of red, listening to some podcasts
Thanks for the video, am currently looking for a single skin tent, TNF assault 2 is top of the list, still, after watching your vid. A lot of other single skin tents that I Google just seem to be in America, all the best from Aberdeenshire 🏴
It's a keeper for me ( so far ). I think I'd also rate the MSR Advance Pro but only if I could get a porch to add on that would fit easily, not so simple with it's external poles making it harder to get a good seal against snow. Also wonder about the Locus Gear Djedi dome, not sure if you've looked at that ? A
You'd be surprised how far light pollution stretches nowadays, what with LED lights and that. Jumping on that other comment about Burnscrook Res, around there's Bortle 5 still which isn't great. Was it closer to a full moon than a new one, too? I always seem to get good seeing conditions when that happens 😂 I keep thinking about getting some starfield binocs for backpacking, but I think I'd be divorced if I come home with anything else backpacking/astronomy related before next summer holidays.
thanks for a great video showing this nice tent. Wondering if you are going to try Samaya tents agen? I use an Samaya 2.5 here in Norway and are so far very happy.
@@AndrewParkOutdoors After the video you made about the samaya i just wanted one for myself. The tent have enough room for me and my 2 smallest kids. Looking forward to trying out in the snow this coming winter. Mybe you should email them about working with you. The Samaya tents are very hard to find somone that knows the brand and tents.
What would you recommend; for use in 4 to 10 day Arctic (pulk hauling events) ; i.e. will never be used in rain, just snow. Typically temps will be -10 to -30. The speed and ease of pitching ,and packing down, whilst wearing guide gloves is critical. I think I have narrowed it down to MSR Adv Pro 2, Rab Latok Mountain 2, TNF Assault Mountain Futurelite, Mountain Hardwear AC2. All of which are close to the same cost. Any recommendation between those or better alternative?
Mm, assuming it's constantly sub zero so no chance of the canopy breathing moisture I'd be tempted by the advance pro for it's sheer simplicity and speed in pitching , it's fabric is probably the least breathable but below zero it isn't going to be a factor. 🤔
@AndrewParkOutdoors thanks Andrew. The MSR sales video, with the guy standing on a bucket and getting the main tent up in about 60 seconds is impressive. I'm sure that takes a lot of practice! Thanks for your advice on that breathability, that makes total sense. Your videos came up first for pretty much any model I've considered this week. Great work!
It's a shame to have a tent with a dry interior, but getting soaked on the way out from the condensation on the underside of the vestibule. It's quite common, and unfortunate.
Well the North Fsce Futurelight shoes don’t work that’s for sure. So bad that I was happy to go back to Goretex. As for the tents let’s hope it’s better!
@@AndrewParkOutdoors Soaking wet inside after just 2 hours of walking. I don’t think it was sweat? I was walking through the trails that had wet low lying brush at the sides. The wet seemed to just soak through them from the toe/top of the foot area. The new Breithorn boots are also failing on the bonded seams after just 4 outings! They seem to have serious quality issues. I’ve gone back to the older S3K boots! You just don’t expect things to start coming apart after a few weeks 😕
Seems like TNF tried to copy RAB's Summit tent. Shame since TNF was a leader in mountaineering tents with their VE and Mountain Summit Series double walled tents. Used them both and loved them. I like the basic design, but connect/sew the vestibule to the tent. Of course you will have condensation in the areas with the vestibule material laying on top of the breathable material! And better guy points and screens! Instead of copying others mistakes, innovate. Why didn't you just take the TNF Mountain 25 and make it a single walled tent?
Looks like my neck of the woods; weather's the same. Good stuff 👏

Actually now you say it , it could explain why I've been ill all weekend, ruined my break away with the boss 😭

Just above my fishing the Burncrooks Reservoir. Lovely spot and great video.
That's a thought, I'll bring my fold down rod next time !
I think you're going to sell it on and get anuvver... and I think you do right... Voddy n crisps... 👏👏👏👍
Mm, scarp is tempting me ! Loved the start of your abisko vid, showed it to the boss last night 😂

Thanks, I'd love to if Samaya would send me one, so expensive otherwise. Good to hear from a real user that you like it though. Happy camping. A

Hi, I'm in the US up near Lake placid in the mountains cant find any dimensions for the 3 person version for this tent any idea?....nice video.
Thanks for watching , to be honest i didn't know there is a 3 man version ( is that the non AMK version. ) ? A

Don't know if it's as big but that tent looks similar to the abisko lite 2, both have good sized vestibule
Yes the vestibule is big and its got great head height but reckon the abisko is much wider

Leaked ? Or didn't breathe ?

i didn;t realise there was a fire hazard with eVent fabric.. what's that about?
Apparently the fabric wasn't that safe so it was allowed where a shelter was classed as a bivvy laterally but not a 'tent'

Good point, if you're not concerned about breathability then using the outer of a bomber tent does kind of make sense 👍
