this last year w/ babies has been hell with the wet nest/intestinal issues. picked up some starter mix by pantex and it worked great on the babies that managed more than a few days. i've decided not to risk it with this new batch and put them on a regimen of grog new by pantex this time around ugh. i don't love to pre-medicate/treat but it's been an issue with my birds despite changing cleaning, nest boxes, nesting material, location, etc. i didn't have luck with my last batches with the tri-sulfa which was frustrating and had a flock die off of young gouldians. only blues though ! i only breed as a hobbyist so the losses really suck. i know in the UK/europe something like coccistop is more popular. i don't believe we have the same product available in the states. i thought about making something like this video because i've been so frustrated ! funny timing and super important information
Sometimes a little pre-med helps the parents stay healthy and turn around the young's will have a stronger chance of making it. I agree with you, I'm not to keen on medicating my birds also but found it has been helpful to use preventative meds. If only your blues keep dying. It could mean your stock of blues genes are weak and carry that trait. It's always best to get blues from reputable breeders.
Hopefully the other chickies pull thru and it's not something that'll spread any further, thanks for sharing, visuals always are helpful, it's tough to tell with birds and reptiles sometimes
This video was made a couple weeks ago those 3 remaining chicks pulled through thanks to the tri-sulfa 😁 and no other issues luckly. Hope this helps anyone who may have a similar issue
Good day, im a new subscriber and i was wondering if you can do a video on weaning chicks that have been hand feeding.....if you did a video on that already i apologize for asking......like i said im new to your channel
My first 3 bird babies just died. I did eveything to save them, me and my wife got so affected by thoses deaths but I think it will happen again as breeder. 1) thoses were redheaded parrotfinches, 4 eggs. 2) after 15 days of breed by the female no chick poped out so I took the eggs under light and saw 1 empty egg and 3 nearly born birds so i put back 3 eggs in the nest and the empty one to the trash. 3) at the end of this 15 day it seems they all broke out of the eggs, but one egg disappeared from the nest and was being born in a feeder?!! A parent put this egg there without reason but he was alive so i put him in the society Finch nest. 4. The day after in the evening the female screamed until 1a.m. without going back in the nest so I had to open the nest a third time (i dont like to open nest because it may lead to abandon) since the nest was build. And there I only saw 1 baby the other one was behind the nest fiber. And both were dying... 5. I put thoses 2 abandonned chicks in the society nest aswell (back all together) but society finch didnt care of them and they all died...
I’m not having success keeping baby finch alive. They died by third day. Their stomach balloons up and the chicks end up dying. Please help. I’m using Exact hand feeding powder per the instructions. Thanks in advance.
if you're having problem with them and they're dying like that have you tried using a brooder to care for it, but you have to hand feed it, yourself... my lemon breasted canary finch babies would die within 3-5 days too, then i bought an brinsea tlc30 and it helped me a lot... my babies weren't dying anymore, but the draw back is i have to hand reared them only... i have babies that i can let it fly all around and they'll go back into their cages after they're tired... this is the most rewarding part.. the brinsea 30 tlc may help you or not, but i did for me... i can use it to incubate or cared for new born finch chicks too
@@dablaugntximntxub2318 I will take a look. Thanks. I built homemade brooder. I have two eggs that I can called success. The two babies are now one month old. They’re really like taking care of babies. Every 2 hours feed and cleaning. New worries now is weaning them to eat seeds. Thanks.

You maintenan and carring very good super sir
My Grey Zebra Finch chicks are consistently dying 3 days after leaving the nest. Any idea?
Do the parents still feed or do they know how to eat? I don't breed finches but I breed budgies and some babies don't learn to eat very fast.
Thanks 🙏
