Good morning everyone, thank you for joining me on the mat. Let's begin our day with ease by doing a little bit of yin yoga. This is a slow and sweet practice suitable for all experience levels with no props required. This will help you increase flexibility and each pose will be held for 3 minutes or so. I'll guide you through poses like seated forward fold, deer, head to knee, sphinx and child's pose.

There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Find your edge means respecting your body's limits and not pushing too far and risking injury. Pull back a little bit and as you hold the pose you will be able to go deeper into it without pushing too far or hurting yourself.
Being still means that once you are in the pose it is important to completely relax your muscles so the benefits can get into the connective tissues and joints. Try not to fidget or move or distract yourself, this is a meditative practice. Breathe deeply in and out through the nose.
Holding the pose means that in Yin Yoga a pose can be held for 1-10 minutes depending on the pose performed and on the comfort level of the student. I usually teach poses held for around 4-5 minutes. Learn to surrender and keep a timer close by if needed.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I would also really appreciate more yin classes without music. In this class specifically I found the second track to be high tempo and energy for a yin practice, and in general I feel there's enough noise and distraction around us in the world.
Whatever works for most of your viewers of course, but just wanted to float the suggestion 😉

I have to second this. Kassandra's classes are so great, they are my favorite classes on UA-cam, but I often find myself wishing I could turn off the music as I find it distracting and repetitive, and I personally prefer no music while practicing.
The music was a bit repetitive, yes! I prefer silence or some ethereal music on low volume... but I loved this yin class ❤ feeling refreshed. Thank you Kassandra.

I did this one in the evening, and it was such a good way to end the day. Was really pleased that I was able to fold all the way down with the seat forward folds - a year ago I could not have done that, so have made progress!

This is a perfect class! I will definitely be doing this one with some regularity. The hamstring stretch with internal rotation of the hip works much better for me. My external rotation is challenging and I can never feel my hamstring stretching...just my hip. Thank you Kassandra!

Thanks for this one! It was a perfect morning to bring my mat outside and enjoy the breeze and clouds moving across the sky and the practice. Deer pose is weird for me in that I’m much more comfortable with my back flat on the ground then on my wrists or forearms. Maybe my body is just weird, lol.
