That injured ape was actually one of Koba's "friends" we see in the movie. His name was Grey. He survived this scene, but was later killed by Red(the Gorilla donkey we see in War) for refusing to betray Caesar a second time
Koba thought he was better than him, and even killed him but he was just a pathetic and evil as he was and both got well deserved deaths for their stupidly and hate on different species of both human and ape.
When koba picks up that gun and just drops that metal debri on the wounded ape, that's so cruel and showed koba only cared about himself at that point and his lust to have absolute power!
One think that I never noticed is that Caesar almost always think his actions before doing something. But when Maurice gets shot he just throwss himself at Koba in fury. He doesn't have a plan for evading Koba's bullets, and he doesn't know if he'll reach Koba in time or if he's gonna shot him before. In that time, his only plan was "either I die or Koba does, but this stops now."
Your right. It kind of references back to the bear scene, Caesar tells his son that he needs to think before doing something. Yet it was Koba who jumped without thinking to save them. I wonder if the directors meant for that break down.
At first Caesar was on the defense while taunting koba. During the aftermath of the explosion he put aside the battle and instead focused on helping his fellow survivors. But as soon as koba opened fire on Maurice, caesar just decided "no more".
Koba: “Koba fight for apes!” Caesar: “You think you’re so different from the humans don’t you? Look at yourself… You took their home, locked them in cages, and even locked away your fellow ape, and killed one of your own. You hate the humans and yet you are the most like them out of any of us.” _”Now you have become the very thing you swore to destroy.”_
Ceaser: "I do not fear them, Koba. I respect them. See what they are truly capable of. Good and evil. As ALL living things are. No. I see it in your eyes. Underneath all that hatred, all that anger, all that fury... it is YOU who fear the humans! And you let that fear CONTROL you! Turn you into the BEAST that they accuse you of being! You could have had so much, Koba. A family, friends, a chance to finally make peace with your past. But you threw ALL that away because you could not see past your damn hatred for humans or ANYONE ELSE who did not agree with your view! Does that sound familiar to you? Koba: BE QUIET!
Koba may have said he was fighting for all apes, but really he was fighting for himself. He may have convinced all the apes about his concern for the humans harming them and may have even convinced himself. But at the end of the day it was his hatred for the humans and what they did to him personally is why he wanted to go to war with them. He manipulated all the apes into fighting for his cause and not for all apes. He even began to become the very thing he swore to destroy by caging his fellow apes just as the humans did and even killed his own kind. Just as Caesar said *”Koba fight for Koba.”*
2:12 A reverse scene of Koba killings Jacobs, with Caesar stepping in for Koba (foreshadowing his arc in War) and Koba ironically being Jacobs. Even the music is slightly similar. A nice little detail.
Koba would’ve been spared But since he shot Maurice ?? And killed his own kind ?? Caeser snapped and just let go of Koba Caeser did shed a tear cuz of how much ride & and die Koba was to him .. always at his side but Koba’s hatred towards humans and Power lust got to him which turned him evil and tried to eliminate caeser to gain that power
@@ShadowSpace56zThere's other factor to it. If Caesar spared him; he'll have many more Kobas ready to betray him for not upholding his principals & dispensing the troublemakers. There are often times while they're butting heads; Caesar looks around to other apes to make sure he's not falling into dictatorship in the face of insubordination.
I like how Caesar takes no pleasure at all in having to let Kobo fall to his death - after the fall, you can see him looking up almost somewhat saddened and regretful by the fact it had come to this. Even before, he did reach to pull him up, only to reconsider when he realized the enormity of what had just transpired after seeing his injured friend Maurice... he also knew what was expected of him as the leader. Although to be fair, having Koba actually locked up in a cage by his own kind would have probably been even worse of a fate for Koba, so he might be better off dead.
koba said it as a manipulation tactic so Caesar lifts him up which would allow Koba to possible knock him off and kill him. It's not bad dialogue but actually smart
I think Ceasar was even willing to allow bygones be bygones of Koba didn’t involve the others. But when he starred shooting at the other apes, that’s when he made his critical decision.
I think by the time Koba shot Caesar and burned down their home, he very much wanted to kill Koba. You could argue deep down Caesar wanted to kill Koba all the way back when he beat the shit out of Koba after he mocked him and started a fight. If he didn't stop himself from strangulating Koba and did indeed kill him, the war against humans never would've started. But Caesar doesn't believe in killing unless its in self-defence, so he let him go. By this point though, he was too far gone. He had to go. If he was left alive, he would lead the apes to unending warfare and eventual extinction. It wasn't about Caesar anymore, it was about the future of the apes. Ultimately Koba started the war he wanted, and in death, he became far more powerful than anyone could possibly imagine. In the end, the apes survived, the humans went extinct and Caesar is dead. Koba is the victor of the PotA series. He accomplished all of his goals, from beyond the grave.
Because he became a monster who’d fallen so into hatred that he only cared about killing his enemies, to the point that even his most loyal followers were irrelevant to him.
@@endtheworld1 Why Red donkey afraid of Caesar? all of Apes follow Koba to war, so why he went to soldiers? all of apes join Caesar in the end just a few of them join Khan Ape Colony.
Koba believes Caesar is weak because he is unwilling to fight the humans. When in reality it makes Caesar a very wise leader. A good leader evaluates a situation and looks at all the alternatives and only chooses to fight if there is no other way. If you rush blindly into battle (like Koba) then you loose lives on both sides, which is what happened when Koba took over. Apes lost their lives to a war that could’ve been avoided if Koba hadn’t struck first. This is what Caesar was trying to tell Koba, if peace is an option than a good leader searches for it. War isn’t pretty and anyone who rushes blindly into it is a fool. Koba could have let go of his hatred, but instead he let rage guide him and let his past determine his fate.
Personally, I feel like Caesar tried to find a way to settle this without having to kill his once loyal companion, but it was when he saw him firing at his fellow apes in blind rage that he realized that his former friendd was lost beyond hope and that taking him out was the only way.
"You are not ape." I love love LOVE how the entire dialogue was loud enough for everyone to hear and they called each other by name but the last time Caesar whispers to Koba he says YOU are not ape. As though ape is not only an animal, a being, but a way of life, a code. And Koba broke it.
what makes this colder is the fact is after the credits, you hear rumble being lifted, and heavy ape breathing. how did my guy survuve after hitting a crane and stuff lol
Someone else pointed it out. But there’s a lot of irony in Kona being a bonobo ape, which are known to be one of the most friendly and peaceful of apes, and yet he’s a bloodthirsty warlord.
Not sure how they managed to make movies about apes so epic but this is literally one of my favorite movie series. This is probably my favorite moment in all of the movies
Koba : " Humans Don't Deserves To Lives " Caesar : " They Deserves To Chooses For Themselves " Koba : " Then You Will Die WITH THEM !!! JOINS THEM IN EXTINCTIONS !!! "
2:11 When I realized that the Optimus vs Megatron in Transformers One is like a reverse of this scene because it was the bad guy in that movie who dropped the main character to his death (but somehow survived) in contrast to the hero dropping a bad guy in this one.
I like how in the first movie Jacob is struggling to get out the helicopter and is pleading for help but Koba just stares at him, all powerful, and he drops him to his death I’m this now Koba is the one struggling to get up and pleading and I’m disbelief when Caesar, who now stands above him, let’s him die
I feel bad for koba. He absolutely got what he deserved though. To clarify, ceasar was absolutely right, koba was the least ape like ape in the series. In truth koba was the most like humans, the very thing he saw to destroy. Koba speaks the most fluently, is the first to use human tools, hes extremely proficient with them as well, he uses others words and morals to survive, and is willing to push down others for his own gain. Whats even sadder is that koba isnt only different from the other apes in the movie, but also different from his own species inate temperment. Bonobos are extremely well tempered apes and compared to chimps are quite kind. They arent as aggressive and tend to solve issues without killing wach other. This is because chimps live in a resource difficient area while bonobos live in a resource abbundant area. Chimps also eat more meat than bonobos. In contrast, koba is hyper aggressive to the point hes a dictator. Koba is basically a puzzle piece that cant fit in any spot. Koba is too human for apes. Koba is too much of an ape to be a human. Koba is too chimp like to be a bonobo. Hes just, alone. The tests, the abuse, the trauma, it cut him into something which was self destructive and violently aggressive, willing to burn everything down to rule the ashes. But he could have been more than that. We see koba being extremely loyal and brotherly to ceasar, he loved him like family, he was happy and kind. Then the humans came back. That trauma came back. And he couldnt escape it. Ceasar was wrong, koba didnt belong in a cage, he never left it. When given the opportunity to, he chose to stay. And for that he died. A sad, miserable, angry being.
"Koba belong in cage..". Damn, Ceaser knew just the right things to say to make Koba fly into a rage. Smart.

I just realized that Koba was killed just like Jacobs. He was let go and fell to his death
But in Koba’s case, his death was much more painful
Koba thought he was better than him, and even killed him but he was just a pathetic and evil as he was and both got well deserved deaths for their stupidly and hate on different species of both human and ape.
This references that it was his turn since he was the one who killed jacobs the same way
Karma. Sometimes it's instant, sometimes it's patient...
@@matthewbenites383Their death screams were spine chilling.
When koba picks up that gun and just drops that metal debri on the wounded ape, that's so cruel and showed koba only cared about himself at that point and his lust to have absolute power!
this is no ordinary wounded ape either, it's Grey, one of his two main "followers".
Meanwhile Caesar is trying to help his people and genuinely loses his shit when Koba shoots maurince

Koba: “Koba fight for apes!”
Caesar: “You think you’re so different from the humans don’t you? Look at yourself… You took their home, locked them in cages, and even locked away your fellow ape, and killed one of your own. You hate the humans and yet you are the most like them out of any of us.”
_”Now you have become the very thing you swore to destroy.”_
Koba: don't lecture me, Caesar. I see through the lies of the apes. I do not fear the human side as you do!
I wonder if in that final scream, Koba had a moment of clarity. He realized just how bad he got through the hatred and pain.

Nah doubt it. He could have died multiple times in this movie and he asked for mercy every time knowing damn well he wasnt going to change.
@@Missingno7 true.

Koba: ape...not....kill....ape
Caesar: you ...are....not ape
Basically "we don't claim you" is what Caesar implied
If you looked closely Caesar shed a tear cuz koba was once his friend
Yeah, it’s clear that Caesar takes no pleasure in killing Koba. If there were any other way, you know he’d have taken it in a heartbeat.
Koba would’ve been spared
But since he shot Maurice ?? And killed his own kind ?? Caeser snapped and just let go of Koba
Caeser did shed a tear cuz of how much ride & and die Koba was to him .. always at his side
but Koba’s hatred towards humans and Power lust got to him which turned him evil and tried to eliminate caeser to gain that power

I think Ceasar was even willing to allow bygones be bygones of Koba didn’t involve the others. But when he starred shooting at the other apes, that’s when he made his critical decision.
He still had killed ash earlier ago though
It didn't help that koba brought blue eyes into the mess and injuring sweet Maurice

Anyone noticed the amount of fear in koba's eyes when Cesar said "you are not ape" ?
Koba face when caesar jumps at him
I know Koba didn't intentionally cause the outbreak, but Caesar indirectly avenges humanity in this scene.
As a bonobo, Koba should be gentle and peace-loving, so it's extremely ironic that he is the most violent, aggressive one of the bunch.
I love how Koba used: "Ape not kill Ape", after he just shot down like five of them...
"I Rise...You Fall"....
1:53 I love that expression on Koba's face as Caesar jumps on him, he's like *"Oh sh*t..."*
Koba is such an underrated villain
Koba: "I've got 500 more God damn rounds in this 30 round magazine"

1:53 Surprise attack
