Doing that many isometrics in one workout really isn’t that great. To strengthen the muscles needed to do the pull up as quickly as possible, it would be far better to do assisted full pull ups using bands or the assisted pull up machine. Then move on to eccentric pull ups. That way you train in the full range of motion of the pull up, and use the muscles involved in the pull up with movement instead of just contracting isometrically. Those isometrics aren’t really bad, there’s just more efficient ways to progress faster.

Sure, you can press much more weight when not going for full extension, but other than that it looks cool, you get don't get quite as much 'gain' from it and can even seriously harm yourself. Also her knee positioning is awkward at times, which could mean serious injuries at some point. When you go home to recover from this, especially if you hit the gym another hour in the afternoon, what does that entail? Shower/sauna? nap + protein shake? 3 ibuprofen? Just wondering if the recovery is structured somehow? Thanks for any info!
Why would you take ibuprofein? And the answer for that is just go about your day, no magic tricks really help with recovery. Protein is a good idea though as you need to have it for muscles to grow
The thing with ibu for muscle pain (not real injuries or other medical issues) is that you don't notice as much how tired you are and overestimate your working capacity which can lead to your body breaking down or you getting really hurt. I'm not general against pain meds but taking them for pure muscle soreness is just unnecessary and may even lead to you being ore prone to injuries. Naps, tons of good quality food ( veggies, protein, micronutrients, food thatmakesyou feel happy) maybe icebaths and massages....
@Steven Hunt Where did I dismiss everyone else as meatheads? Barbells, along with other basic gym equipment, are tools and can thus be used in many different ways. I'm not going to complain about another paying member using the equipment as they see fit, as long as they're not breaking things or using them way too long.
@Steven Hunt The barbell was designed for Olympic weightlifting, so technically anything else is misuse of the barbell, including many of the things you listed. How about people use the barbell for whatever they want to use it for? People in the gym should be focusing on their own workout rather than judging others.

Ninjalukehutch _ lol I’m the one paying to watch her movie. I think I have the right to criticize her body. If she wasn’t an actress trying to portray a superhero, then I wouldn’t judge her. Too bad she is though. She chose to be in the limelight, So stop trying to defend her.
Ninjalukehutch _ I mean 200 push-ups is not difficult. 🤣🤣
Arnold recommends tart cherry as anti-inflammatory. Try that instead of ibuprofen, aspirin or paracetamol (NSAID) ...
I like how he gets angry when he crosses his legs at 8:10 haha!
I’m always looking out for tips from her workout! She got so strong for this film!
@Steven Hunt Yes, we should all cater our workouts to the preferences of the local meatheads. Please.
She is not strong at all
@@liteoner Nope, really dumb comment.
Jason Walsh's name should be in the title
I LOVE Her! She’s the best! Had the opportunity to meet her in person. What a woman. Down to earth, real and funny. Also, we shared the love for Captain Marvel! Her character has a LONG way ahead and this was just the beginning! Can’t wait for The Marvels (and very much her appearances in upcoming series before her sequel)! She deserves it all! Her efforts and determination are inspiring!
I'll have to take it in stages, but there is some great information here. Thank you!!
No disrespect but this is some of the worst training I’ve ever seen. Hollywood trainers are some of the worst I’ve ever seen and I have no idea how they keep getting clients. This is just fine workouts for getting someone more fit but if you’re only goal is to look more muscular and fit for a role this was 99% wasting time. Doing anything will get you in better shape so it worked but she could have done this 100x more efficiently
now this is a trainer! Ugh😍 the way he talks about eccentric exercise and exercises involved with rehabilitation and just basic fundamentals😍😍😍
Get a grip. This was terrible
At 8:10, when he crosses his legs, I enjoy how he expresses anger. You folks are really mean... I don't believe a pilot would enjoy Brie's role despite how gorgeous she is. I just loved it! She seems like a down to earth kinda person too
Those push up variations are fantastic! Can't wait to try these
The comments are 75% weird ,, are y’all ok??
If you have body image issues then these videos are not for you because you can be triggered and that’s not good at all , and happy Father’s Day ❤️
Jason Walsh is just an incredible trainer! A real inspiration.
Terrible trainer
7:06 I need Jeff Cavalier on this right now.
Agree!
A. Hope her knee position improved. B. The dude struggles imagine her ploughing through this. Fuark yeah!
Question is guys, did Jason learn the Y raise from Jeff Caviller, or did Jason teach Jeff?
This whole comment section is r/nothowgirlswork
*Good job Devon !* 💪😎👍💖 🔥
i dont wanna hear from men about her lack of butt until they have a sick pack and bulging arm muscles...ridiculous right? holding someone to a standard of societal perfection is unhealthy. if you’re here to troll and hate, kindly take several seats
@baby bean you lost me with that ''just a fact'' bit. Why should a butt size be qualification for a superhero? ''Oh look they have a flat butt, guess they can't save the world then!''
You do realize physical strength comes from big muscles correct? Big strong glutes and legs allows you to do more explosive heavier exercises. Sorry, but being built like a board does not make a super hero as believable.
REALITY CHECK:
-I’m the audience
-She’s the performer
Are you preventing me from giving feedback?
Did you mean SIX pack?
Anna Jones maybe you should stick to learning proper grammar and leaving a legacy behind.🤦🏻♂️
How much for a 1 year workout plan with this guy?
I's T's and Y's... those are the absolute worst exercises ever. I remember working up to 5lb weights, but they never really get easier.
Strong is *very* sexy! Good job, lady! And to Jason...dude, _keep it up!_
The trainer is greaaat!!! He took his time to actually know what the actress needs in order to be in character. He really knows his stuff.
I find it funny that they censor him here on Men’s Health, but not on Vanity Fair.
This workout looks incredible!!
Random question....why would her workout not be on Womens Health??????? Is their something they are not telling us?
didn't know Matthew McConaughey was a trainer now
incels in this comment section seem to know as much as bro science spreading instagram fitness models but in their heads they think they know better than a trainer lol
Love these videos💓💓
Guys make sure we turn our muscles on before we workout. So she pretty much didn't train for 8 months. lol. hollywood really is out of touch.
very definitely adding the dumbell total body complex into my workouts, think it will definitely help with my shot put because of the dynamic speed in the excercise, will be recommending this to some of my athletes i coach
She looked amazing
You’re doing great job. Thanks for sharing. Stay connected everyone
I'd recommend all the salty boys commenting on this video saying that Brie doesn't look fit enough go check out Max Chewning's channel so they can maybe comprehend that genetics is primarily responsibly for how our muscles grow and gain strength. Max is tiny and can deadlift upwards of 700lbs. Some people's bodies just aren't designed to show muscle tone like Fitspo influencers.
Brie's body build when she was Captain Marvel was so beautiful and inspiring. I was never really into the curvy, model type. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful (as all women are) but it's not something I wanted on myself. But when I saw how a woman can have amazing arm and back muscle like Brie's, and her upper body strength, it inspired me to work out. Still working on it, but I hope to be as ripped as her someday!
offended white dudes are so early in the comments cause they have "brie larson" in the youtube history search bar and search for new videos about her every hour
Its fuuny, because that joke came to you because that's what you've been doing, from one lok at your profile page.
Good one.
@@ge2719 but who's leaving hate? lol I admire Brie Larson and been following her ever since. These offended white dudes suddenly come at rage because she's opinionated? Toxic and fragile masculinity lol
@@renzcharlie07 you're leaving hate. You just dont realise it. Have a nice day.
am i tho? or am I just pointing out? dude learn to differentiate
@@renzcharlie07 no, you aimed to be insulting. but keep telling yourself whatever you like.
I'm loving all these comments that are standing up for Brie Larson and her body :)
EXCELENTE EXPLICACIÓN PROFESOR,DESDE COLOMBIA SALUDOS
The dumbbell complex is a Very slight variation from the Javorek Dumbbell complex. Credit should be given to the creator.
That is a Javorich barbell complex. He requires extension to the toes on all upright movements.
Solid activation and progression advice. Thanks!
Why the hell would you spot someone doing a hip thrust like that? As if you'd grab 300 pounds from that position if she got stuck!
Gimmicky workout! This coach doesn't know what he is talking about! Foam rolling... 😅... pad under chest... the "best stretch in the world"... superfluous muscle activation... and "finishers"...this video is totally hilarious. Brie's trainer probably binge-watched Athlean X. 🤪
0:30 pushing a jeep!? Is this for real or is this some kind of montage?
@ 5:20 That is not a landmine. not even close.
i wonder if they keep up with their new strength after the movie is over.
this is so good!
Totally need to add activation to my routine.
Why the knees up on the pull ups? I didn't think that was good for the posterior chain.....
I'm assuming it activates the core. Could be wrong, I haven't tried this....yet :)
Thank you 😊 the first stretch was amazing!!!
I love the way she looks.
This will be my goal to be able to do this workout in a year
It's fun hearing just how hardcore Brie Larson really is.
Brie is a real life superhero
@Steven Hunt Sterquilinus, is that you?
@Steven Hunt that's just cringy as fuck lmfao
she’s amazing. first-oscar winner...second-very beautiful third-physically stronger than other actresses. i mean...perfect choice for a superhero. so...came all those jelouse girls there...haha am i right?
I just didnt like her acting
Stunts were good just like her body
@@PungeonMon maybe u r right. but do u agree that comparing her real body strengh, muscles etc, are stronger then other actresses real strengh like gal gadot and others? (not the stunts).
Gal Gadot has tiny Arms lol That is no compare
Yes I can agree
@@PungeonMon exactly! u r right. this is why i cannot understand how gal gadot can dare to show her arms like...realy strong... and she knows, as we all know, that she has no chance against bries real strong arms and legs?? is this all a perfect lie or what?
No Larson footage, no likes.
interesting how every other celeb work out has the celebrative in the video but in this one. she is no where to be found XD
i cant even do a pull up...
@Steven Hunt now im deeply hurt 😂
Can you please show us some cheap at home work out sets? please?
Season 8 episode 3 has a familiar face in it! 😉
Hey angry peeps in the comments, can we all take a moment to agree that this trainer is awesome? And this workout will be super fun to try. Hope you all have good day 🙂
He’s really not but the previous commenter said everything
People are so gullible. And funny.
Ubbe is that you?
😂😂💯👏👏
This man was over paid 😂 y’all lying to yourself if you really thought this was a workout. I will give him credit for giving her a solid foundation but that’s about it.
"solid foundation"?? wth is that?
This guy has no clue what he's talking about.
Trainers got some massive calves. Always trust a trainer with massive calves.
loveeee this work out
I'm laughing at all the bots/npcs praising this trainer lol. So much of it is for show, as if this is produced purely for entertainment value. So many inefficiencies and unnecessary stuff.
Will you marry me, Jason?
This comment section is filled with savages 😂😂 yall have me dying
Filled with a bunch of guys who did a push-up one time
Both sides are a little sensitive in my opinion😂
If only the dialogue and plot got this workout.
Only workout you need is 100 pushups, 100 squats and run 10k everyday.
You didn’t get the memo, stretching is dead.
“Activate, turn on” 😂😂😂😂 Dude the muscles never turn off.
this is not a personal attack.
Its a personal attack or something
I rewatched 21 Jump Street. She was so chunky in that film 🤣
0:26 Gluteus medius weakness detected.
Neophema Yeah I really hope she doesn't hurt herself. I've had patellar tendonitis for years now and it can really fuck up your workouts.
This is the worst training/trainer i've ever seen
I was expecting a woman to be working out 😂
I kinda like that they used a guy. That way the workout doesnt get discredited because a girl is doing it. Like this is hard stuff. Brie is badass.
@@metapixusion they could've shown both a woman and a man
Angel J.
He identified as a woman during the workout. Don’t be a bigot.
