God bless all you drivers. I always wanted to drive LTL but it never happened for me. Cherish your opportunity. Work hard, be safe.
Spot on, I pack my food and drinks for the week. I'm the only systems driver for my barn so I fill in when drivers are on vacation so its a good mix of home time and being out for the week.
Excellent.
Where are you out of?
How do u pack bro lol im having a hard time on buying a decent cooler etc.. i been runn ing extra board at estes any input would help..
Since I’m home every day now I just use a regular cooler with ice packs.
If I was gone all week I’d get another thermo-electric cooler that runs off the dc power through the lighter plugs. I’d also get the converter so it can run off of the 110 ac in hotel rooms. Pretty sure you can still get them in the truck stops, Walmart or probably Amazon.
I don’t know if they’re doing it system wide but, I talked to my old TM from saia the other day and he said they’re trying to get rid of system and make everything turns. I liked system and preferred it. I would usually call central on sundays, run on my 10 everyday and end back at home by Friday morning/afternoon
Haven’t heard that yet.
Spot on Mark. Keep up the great content. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Thanks and to you too.
Now mark explains it well in the real world
how do two drivers with coolers and clothes for a week fit in a day cab? also when you get to the hotel do they get you separate rooms when training? retired tanker driver here, enjoy the vlog.
If you mean during the week of initial training, they don’t. At least in Dallas, the trainers all have turns.
Just applied for Saia Linehaul position in wrenthem, MA. I have previous linehaul experience. Currently doing P&D for another LTL company. Is there anyone I can get in contact with to expedite my application?
Will Saia open a terminal in Eastern Long Island New York Suffolk county, fantastic place to open a terminal. Do you have other ternal such as ABF closer to the Suffolk in Nassau border as well as FedEx UPS XPO Estes freight lines and Old Dominion Freight Lines close to the Nassau and Suffolk border And of course Brooklyn New York terminal. But there is no Saia Motor Freight Lines in eastern New York would be a good idea to put one out there. It would be worth it and if anyone is reading this LTL, they’re gonna scoop that up.
There are 5 Terminals in New York. I’m not sure of their locations though.
Do they pay for per diem if u don’t return home the same day?
I just graduated from cdl school in Colorado
Man the job postings have been up more than a month, i applied twice. Nothing, im already pulling doubles for fedex ground tho. Wish i could call em

@@MarksTruckingLife thx will do
You going to mention the first hour is free if you aren’t ready?
What does SAIA pay experienced LH drivers?? I applied in Texas, but at the time they were slow and couldn't hire any new drivers!
Top pay is 72.5 cents a mile.
Does Saia have a list of regular hotels they use or arrange the room for you? Just thinking it would help a lot if someone finds a place that accommodates Truck Parking especially with Doubles.
Usually you’ll Laydown where there is a terminal so you’ll only need to take the tractor to the hotel. Also there are hotels listed but pretty much wherever takes the CLC card.
Just wondering if line runs out on Saturday night? Scheduled for a drive test and dot physical with Saia but am concerned about getting called out on Sunday morning since we are active in our church on Sunday morning. Any insight on this one, running out of Phoenix terminal, great content
I’m sure you’ll start out in the system. I’ve not seen system drivers called on a Sunday morning. It’s possible you could be needed on a Sunday night. When I was in the system I would generally try to get out in a Sunday night. Otherwise probably not until Monday nights.
Thanks for the insights
So for line haul they give you option if you wanna stay out & when you first start and you’re doing training was it a week or two weeks before you got your first check?
I stay in Garland trying to get in the Dallas terminal just trying to see how things are!
A P&D and Line haul position was posted about three weeks ago. I applied for line haul 2 days ago. How long do they take to respond and is there a good chance I get picked up? I'm in San Antonio. Thanks
They tend to take their time.

@@MarksTruckingLife awesome, thanks!
Would your reset be on the road or at home ? For a system driver just startling out
At home.
Estes is at home unless you want to do it on the road.
How long it takes to get use to hooking doubles on average doing training? I been driving 6yrs and never did doubles
If you start doing it every day, it won’t take long.
Does SAIA offer CDL training? I’m interested in getting my CDLs
They have a dock to driver program. You have to work the dock for about 3 months.
Saia is offering me a bid run 3/2 613 miles a night Calhoun ga to Hagerstown MD straight up and back. But not sure if I'll take it or not because of the driver facing cameras. Been at my current job for 17 years. Have 5 weeks vacation. Also would have to go without insurance for 90 days. Start with only 5 personal days and 5 vacation days. Undecided
5 weeks vacation is nice you won’t getting that anywhere nowuhdays
@@dontdoxmebro I turned the job down
Is that only 1839 miles a week? I need at least 2,750 miles a week if I do linehaul.
@@overtheroadnick4233 I stayed at my job we now get .76 cpm and no the Saia job was 2452 miles one week and 3678 the next. But atlas I stayed at Southeastern Freight Lines.
I run line haul now for saia love it but the system suck lol
Is LTL line haul ever 4 days a week? Or always 5/6? I'm trying to find something 4 days a week
That would be nice, but I haven’t seen that here.
@@MarksTruckingLife alright, I appreciate the response
5 nights
Does saia give good benefits and vacation I only drive p/t these days. I work in manufacturing f/t looking for a change
Linehaul top pay is 72.5 cents a mile. Hourly top is $28.66. Benefits are pretty good. I think family medical coverage is about $47 a week. After 10 years is free. Vacation. 1 week after a full year. 2 after 2 years (I think). 3 after 7. And 4 after 18.

Would they take me with automatic restriction?
Yes. Email me at

For my referral info.
What does SAIA stand for ? thanks for your video 😁
It’s actually the last name of the company founder Louis Saia.
@@MarksTruckingLife cool thanks 👍

Do they let new drivers do this? Just got CDL
For Saia you’ll need one year experience.
You can go straight from dock to driver to linehaul now. No experience necessary. This rule came affect about a month or 2 ago
Does saia hire with auto restriction?
Yes
I just emailed you.
Does SAIA offer part-time positions for drivers?
I don’t believe so. However it may be different from terminal to terminal.
They don't do that anymore. You are home everyday
@@johnnyinfl
Not everywhere.
@@MarksTruckingLife they are trying to get rid of having drivers out all week.
Does linehaul work dock?
I believe the only time you have to work the dock is if you have to do a work off at a dark terminal.
Do you get per diem?
No per diem
Hello Mark just emailed ya
That is because you are not UNION
Absolutely the worst company I ever worked for. Hands down
What was your experience?
@@PineappleExpress1990 From management to dock workers.17 to 20 stops a day and micromanaging gone wild. The most toxic atmosphere o e ever seen
I think its wonderful how you beg for the referral bonus. Don't they pay you enough that you need to beg for that?
Not begging. Just putting it out there.
Never get a warm meal and drive a pos day cab good luck making 200 dollars a week why would you do that
I make over 2K a week.
Been here 5 months now. Rather have a V8.
Why what's wrong with saia
How has your money changed since Covid ended?
And thanks for the video.
Not much. We never really slowed down.
Why did you stop driving semi’s and decide to go back to greyhound? I’ve heard a couple people say that you can make more money driving a semi then you can a bus. That seems strange to me, you would think it would be the other way around. But do you have thoughts on that?
