I agree on having that exemption. Some people are made for the road and some aren't. Some people cant even drive in their own personal vehicles 1hour without being sleepy. There should be a minimum of like a 6hr break instead of 10. Im good to go but i know some people love to sleep and thats fine too, doesn't mean i cant perform. Kind of like O.T in a regular job. Some people want it most people are fine with 40hr.

Sleep apnea requirements are insane dude. My three things that stopped me from getting a class a physical for two years so I could get my class A was me being Male, neck size was barely over 17 inches and apparently my bmi was over 33? I’m 6’2 330 but I’m muscle… not fat man. There’s got to be other ways to determine my true bmi because there are drivers out here passing their first physicals in WAY WORSE SHAPE then me. I truly think my doctor just didn’t know wtf he was doing or he didn’t like me because I have zero health issues, never had any. It’s insane, I don’t snore in my sleep, I don’t stop breathing, I’ve never had an issue. What’s crazy is I passed with flying colors for my class b cdl when I got a cdl physical then!

I drove for Greyhound, and you bet your ass I carried. I heard about the attack on a Greyhound where a passenger started stabbing and eating another passenger, stories of guns being pulled on drivers, ladies with knives hanging on the mirrors of the bus. I carried my revolver, mace, and a pocket knife, the states I went to were all legal for me to carry on my person, the only thing that would cause any issues was that it was company policy to not have a firearm. My thoughts on that is “until there’s a policy that can stop a bullet, I’m carrying regardless”. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I don’t know about other states but in SC you can change you CDL from interstate to intrastate without having a medical card to keep your CDL status.

The only time DOT will EVER “inspect” your belongings is if they have reasonable suspicion that you look or smell or act intoxicated on either drugs or alcohol or if you’re being a total belligerent dickhead. Outside of that they’re not going to abruptly start sniffing out a pistol just because your tire pressure is a bit low or a clearance light is out. I’m sure they know very well that 3/5 drivers are carrying illegally across state lines, but if they decided to really crack down on it the damn scale houses would be closed down all day due to truck lineups down the interstate.

I’m a union ABF freight linehaul driver and content creator. 8.3k subs. The culture is very different here. Management is currently getting rid of city UE and giving rail work back to the road drivers .. ABF also only picks up freight that pays while yellow management picked up everything in the world and lost alot of money doing it. I agree with this video. And yes we have 8600 teamsters.
