    Again I love watching your video. "Erexeq sksum enq". It's like being in my mom's or aunts kitchen. I don't cook much so I watch because I enjoy being in your kitchen. I would like to add that the Armenian genocide is officially recognized by 27 countries and 43 US states and most historians.

    God bless Armenia!You are a brave woman to bring this topic! I believe the number of victims was more than that. My grandma was born in 1897 and probably was from very few who survived. Russia did back up Armenia for that time but two years later got war against itself, so Armenia suffered twice; and then Azerbaijan repeated after Turks in Bacu in 1989, so it was already the third time in the past century.You are lucky your parents passed the Armenian culture on you. I didn't get a chance for that. And how many Armenians are spread around the world... Sad indeed!

    I am Greek and I feel with you, dear Heghineh. Indeed 3.500 millions of Greek, Armenians, Assyrians were massacred in Turkey from Young Turks and Moustafa Kamal and this is history NOBODY should deny it. For us it started in 1913 and 1.500 million Greeks have died as well.So sad and unfair like all genocides.

    What a horrific tragedy. I've heard about Armenian genocide once on the news but I don't know why it is not recognized. I am curious and will read about this. This is unimaginable for me to think anyone could hate so much and slaughter so many people. It is honorable of you to remember them each year by cooking the meal they ate.

    It’s so sad to think. The little time we all have here on earth will pass us by and yet our Armenian heritage has suffered so much for our faith we have in Christ. Cherish every moment with each other. This food is so nice and rich with history. Every year we have the mousa ler ceremony in fresno with this traditional jash and the war drum battle songs. Thank God we survived and live to tell of what our families endured. Life is precious. We are blessed to live in America. Thank you for sharing your recipes.

    I am using bulgur instead wheat, since it cooks faster. But of course i tastes little bit different. I know also some people use blender to cut time of cooking. I am cooking it very often, since it is very healthy dish. Thank you very much for the video and your great job for Armenian nation.

    I did not harissa is made in Armenia, too. In Iraq we make with lamb. It is served with hot oil, d
    Some people like it savoury, so will add salt and some cumin, in my family we had it sweet, with sugar and cinnamon. When mum made it we would eat nothing but harissa for every meal until it's finished. One of the meals that I miss now that I am vegan

    • @redstart5389
      @redstart5389 6 років тому

      CraftySamarita it can be made many different ways, depending on personal taste....the meat could be changed, the meat could be different, the grains would be whatever is on hand- barely, bulghur, or rice....its meant to be a porridge of what ever grain+ meat you may have;& yes- to eat it everyday until its finished...its meant to signify sacrifice & scarcity of food choices& for Armenians, it reminds us of our Genocide perpetrated by the Turks

    My mum used to cook this with chicken,too !! And we always played this game with the tiny bone of the chicken that looks like a "Y" (this one at 6:03 minute). Anyone also played this game? It was like: as soon as my mother and me broke together the bone into two pieces the game started: whenever she gave me something or I gave something to her, we had to to say "I remember". The first of us who forgot to say this lost the game.
    Now I'm a pescetarian. Anyone an idea how to cook this dish still delicious??

    Heghine jan, thanks for the recipe .
    But why are you cooking it 3-4 hours? I've done it in such a way when I'd lived in Eriwan and bought spasi dzavar, but now ?!
    I live in Germany and buy some sort of pre-cooked wheat ( bulgur ).
    My recipe is the recipe of my mother-in-law. She had always cooked chicken with wheat (dzavar) together.
    Here in Germany I take for 500gr wheat 2kg chicken and cook all together only 1 hour!
    Then when it's still hot I'm starting very intensive to mix it . All the bones can be easily pulled out of the harissa .
