      Heghineh Cooking Show I'm Palestinian, living in USA and I make Aish Al Saraya. Your pronunciation is perfect and you made it very well. ;) I usually toast cubed toast, but crushing them up works as well. ❤

    Marhaba/ Barev !!!
    Your channel is amazing (I’ve been binge watching your videos for hours). Your recipe looks delicious !! Lebanese here and I grew up with Armenian, Assyrian and Greek friends back home. Love all the different cuisines. I very much cherish the Lebanese/Armenian friendship.

    How interesting that the base is made with dried bread. I've never heard of this before, middleastern desserts are delicious. There are some prune filled cookies that I have tried and they are middleastern but I have forgotten the name of them. Little round cookies with a nut and prune filing. Wonderful looking deserts, thank you for sharing

    Hi, I love your channel and I especially like how you involve the whole family in the cooking .Bravo. I have some advice , to get the authentic aish el saraya , instead of using cream fresh you could have used smooth whole milk ricotta and fold it into the chilled mahalabi, and the orange blossom water is just distilled water from orange blossom petals ,it's not a syrup.Good luck dear.

    • @Heghineh1
      @Heghineh1  8 років тому

      Thank you so much , that's the only kind of orange blossom water ( syrup) they have in local supermarkets and it reads "syrup" on the bottle, I normally use it for my baklava syrup.
      I'll try your version next time:)

    Awesome recipe, I am Lebanese and your recipe looks great. There are so many different variations of aish el saraya ( you are saying it right) so don't worry you did a great job. I like how you added creme fraiche to it. I only put milk and heavy cream. Plz do the chorek but can u show us a recipe that uses no margarine or shortening? Most of the recipes I found use those . Thanks a lot !!

    So I Kind of struggled when I poured the syrup over the bread, I feel like the bread really didn’t absorb the syrup. After I poured the filling on top, I noticed the bread rising, I’m confused if my bread slices were too thick that’s why it kept raiseing or if I made the syrup to thick that’s why it didn’t absorb the syrup. After leaving it in the fridge, I found it difficult to slice thru the bread and noticed there was still lots of syrup on the bottom. Can you suggest what I might of made mistakes doing?

  • @CookingwithJulia
    @CookingwithJulia 8 років тому

    I'm not Lebanese but I am sure you did a great job! In the end, there are always so many different variations of recipes for "authentic" dishes because over the years, generations of people naturally change the recipes to make it how they like it. :) In any case this looks really delicious!

    I think you are doing great, there is no wrong way, different regions do the same desert differently. Looks so yummy. You are so cute too. Am a mama too, and sound and act like you but maybe less nervous

    Can I use just milk, cornstarch and heavy cream for the filling ?

  • @xCUBITUSx
    @xCUBITUSx 8 років тому

    The lebanese traditionnal cream used in this dish is called "ashta", a good substitute would be ricotta cheese mixed with heavy cream ;-) and for the curious people Aish el saraya literally means "life in a palace" or "luxurian life"

      +heghineh I'll tell you my secret recipe of this dish to make it even tastier. Use baguette french bread cut in thick slices, then deep fry it in vegetable oil till golden, remove it from oil and drain it with a toil from oil, then add the syrup to it and you'll see how tasty it will get 😉

    • @Heghineh1
      @Heghineh1  8 років тому

      +xCUBITUSx thank you so much, I can imagine how good it'll taste , fried baguettes taste sooo good, I may just eat them before making the Aish el saraya, lol ☺️
