- This project, titled the "Blue Meanie" is a 1987 Dodge D100 that I painted back in 2020. Many new Viewers aren't familiar with it, so I wanted to show some of the highlights of the build, and the videos that go along with it.
Hope you enjoy!

Ok. So this one only took 13 and 1/2 minutes, so I'll expect you to have the Green Goblin up and running in no more than 15! Lol. Great stuff as always Joe!
Haha! Might need 20 with yours 😂
From farmtruck to the coolest of cruisers! She's a beaut!!
Thanks, Terry! This was back in 2020. Got it all done in about 6-8 weeks. Lots of little things. Much better now!
My old jealousy bone is itching. What a great looking truck. Cant wait to see it painted.
It was a good start. I painted this one and did miscellaneous other work to it back in summer of 2020. The playlist is called “blue Meanie”
I remember this truck! It turned out very nice!
Thanks, Tim! It’s been 2 and a half years! Crazy how the time flies
What I really like is how much you get done. Your drive to make stuff happen reminds me of being 30 years younger.
Thanks brother! This one was done in 3-4 weeks in a row, back in 2020.
Great job Joe!!!
Thanks brother! I will get another truck in someday to give the works
Great video Joe. Just what I want for my shop truck daily driver
Awesome! The prep always takes the longest
@JustMoparJoe Joe it's like building a house. If the foundation is good she will last the test of time. Take your time and do it right. Ya got to go slow to go fast
Faster than Overhaulin !!! Looks really nice. Good job 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful job Joe.
That's a nice pick up. 👍
Thanks, Ed. I’ve been needing to do a quicker video for this project. I actually left quite a bit out because I didn’t know how to shorten it anymore 😅
That's a very nice little D100 great job Joe....thanks.
Thanks 👍
Amazing Transformation, right before our eyes!👍👍
Thanks brother
@@JustMoparJoe Mopar Forever brotherman 👍👍🏁🏁
The slower you go the faster you work 👍🏻🇦🇺
You got that right!
Hey that HFT gun in Joe's hand is like a magic wand! 😂😂😂
She worked out alright! Thanks John
That turned out beautiful
Thanks brother! I think I had it totally painted from start to finish in 14 work days. Cool truck! Cream puff 318
For a 87 year model and I was a young man like you back then that is as solid 🪨 of a great truck as you can get. Hopefully it is a 360 manual transmission scooter!
Truck came out awesome man!! Great work!!!!
Thanks brother. This would be a sweet spot for the gen 3
Truck turned out great Joe! I like that generation of Dodge trucks. Daily drove one for years.
That’s Awesome! I drove my high school truck from 15-21. I finally parked it when I needed to hit the interstate every weekend.
One nice looking truck, good job joe!!
Thanks, Jeff! It was a good learning experience
Damn man!! You really ARE a Joe of all trades...that looks mint mate...the Raptor looks really good too, real neat job...its your attention to detail that will keep them coming back Sir
Thanks buddy!
Another beautiful job well done Joe , she’s gorgeous
Thank you! Cheers!
Outstanding work, Joe! Better than new.
Thanks brother!
Watched the video while trying to get the window to go up and down when it's cold, on my dad's old Toyota. You painted that whole truck, and I ain't done yet. 😂
Looks good Joe!
Haha! This was back in 2020. I had that one done in about 8 weeks
Great lookin truck. Wish my 1982 was blue instead of yellow.
Beautiful. Crossing my fingers that mine comes out that slick. About the same color too is what I've had in mind for years now, since i painted my engine block in 2020
Awesome! You’ve got it going on brother
You made it look really nice . I enjoyed the music . You had a good variety tonight .
Thanks, Terry!
Throw a rubber bed Matt in the back. That will help keep the dents out and preserve the inner floor. Love u Joe your a real Mopar man👍🏻😎🇺🇸🏁🙏🏻
Thanks brother. The new owner does daily drive it and really enjoys it
What a transformation! I love older Dodge Rams, especially standard cabs. That Eastwood Rust Encapsulator is some good stuff. One thing Rams are known for is tailgate rot up here. My truck is a 2005 1500 and the body is very solid. I took my tailgate off, masked it off except for the very bottom inside seam. That's where rust always starts over time. Sprayed a nice clean edge of the Eastwood, left it untouched. You can't see it even with the tailgate open. That was five years ago, still solid. Love that steel blue color. What's it called?
It was a light blue metallic, with the factory code from that year model. I have the Nason code under the basecoat video of spraying this one. Definitely unique.
Good Lookin Truck
Thanks brother
I watched the whole series when you did it, this little refresher was nice to see
Thanks, Greg. I was having trouble fitting it all in to one video
Great job, Joe ! Nicely done!
Thanks brother! Good to see you
Its looking great, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks brother

Thanks, you too! We are at a chilly 7 degrees here with snow staying around for a few days.
Tjat truck is so pretty
Reminds me of dads 82 amd my baby the 83. I bet you were proud to put color on it....looks good
Oh yes. It was an easy one, compared to many rust buckets out there
Looks Awesome Joe
Thanks, Mike!
Looks good! Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
👍Lord that truck is nice! Great job! 👍🇺🇸
I appreciate it! I did this back in 2020. Hopefully my editing and filming has progressed

You done good.
Thanks brother! I’ve been needing to make a short video of all the stuff from that one.
Gives me good idears for our 85 dodge shortbox pickup.
Awesome!
Great looking truck. Nice work. Most of them are all rusted out here in the north east.
Thanks 👍
Looks great my little truck I love little my 83 miser
Absolutely! Love your truck, buddy!
Nice! I'd drive it!
You and me both!
Perfect
Thanks brother
😎
Very nice bud
Thanks 👍
You certainly have the gift
Thanks, Mike! This one is a few years back, but I never got to put it in to a single video.
Awesome. I just found this channel. I have a 1990 D-150
Very cool! I have a playlist on a similar truck called Juan Carlos. Also a playlist on an 87 called “Red Sled”. And my most recent is the “ramcharger revival”
@@JustMoparJoe yes sir I seen Juan Carlos, and the Ram Charger Revival. I’ll check out the red sled today.
I think my 1990 may have a cracked head or head gasket leak. At idle it looks like steam coming from the DS exhaust
@@gwgdog66 oh man, I do hear that those heads are prone to cracking. Many say it’s not close to a jacket . I’m not sure
I need to find a good Mopar mechanic in the OKC area.
You know I think I've seen this truck around Searcy. I told Matthew, I said that's a cool truck.
That’s the one! He’s repainted some spots on it, I think after another door repair. But I was able to give him the same paint left over 😂
@@JustMoparJoe that's awesome it's a nice looking ride for sure
Joe got skills
Thanks brother!
Just pick one up about to start on it
Sweet I got a 85 dodge d150 I plan on making videos on I just posted a short about the wiring trouble I’m having 😂
😎👍
Looks like you did a real nice job of that if you come to New Zealand come paint my 1930 Plymouth good job brother hood
Wow man! That’d be a trip from here. Thanks brother
Dang!
Thanks, Stan! Been a few years back. I picked up 10,000 subs since then. I figured someone had missed the build lol
Drove an 85 this color in high school. Nice to see what it should have looked like new. Only thing that sucked was the max 10 mpg part.
Thanks for sharing! This one definitely deserves more more 🥊
She turned out real nice, proud to drive it anywhere . What you growing in that field back there?
Haha! Thanks brother. I can’t remember what was back there. Probably corn in August of 2020
Good looker
Thanks, Ricky!
That's the way the doors were my great uncle that was in WW2 had a old Ramcharger he bought brand new back in I want to say 74' but I was young and I remember when they closed the doors he would say but some elbow into closing it.
Needs a 408 stroker
For sure. But it’s an actual daily driver now with the 318
Typical Dodge Truck, looking like it held up quite well for its age.😊
I can tell you from experience...most of them didn't. Mechanically they were very dependable but all Dodge trucks up until 2010 when RAM took over they were big time rust buckets. The first gens like this one would rot away in 10 to12 years even when undercoated if you lived north of the Mason Dixon and had any kind of winter. The windshields on them were held in buy a big rubber gasket and most of them leaked enough to let water run down the firewall inside and get under the floor mat so it was always wet under them. The floors would rot out then the cab mounts would go. I bought a gorgeous brand new 1977 1 ton Power Wagon with the HD 360 and TF trans. Had it thoroughly rustproofed. Within 5 years I had it totally repainted and new doors put on. 5 years after that the box was shot so put on an old dump body off an international truck my dad had used for the farm. It took 2 more years for the cab to rot off the frame so the engine and trans came out and the rest went to the scrap yard. I had other Dodge trucks with similar stories. Even the second Gen Dodges rotted out around the back wheel wells...of which I am experienced with...right up until 2010 It looks like they have finally figured it out. The only Dodge trucks that lasted were the ones that were babied and lived in the southwest and now any that are for sale the sellers are asking stupid money for them. No thanks been there done that.
Mopower
Thanks brother
Looks great! What paint did you use? I have been trying to decide on a dark blue or grey-blue for my '87, something very close to this is what I pictured in my head.
Nason Ful base BC B8364 IF B Std. #339422
@@JustMoparJoe thank you! I hadnt heard of them.
@@SKMopars Nason is a fairly popular paint. This was their base and clear. I put the code there in case you wanted to get a sample mixed. Many Oreilys and Crow Burlingames mix and sell it.
@@JustMoparJoe sorry I'm an at home novice, i really only heard of paint from Summit, Eastwood and Sherwin Williams! I knew there was more out there?
Makes a guy wish he had a tin grille you could paint for him…wait a minute 😅
Haha! I’ll get it on the list!
That's a great find, I'd love to find an older Dodge pup in that kind of condition up here in Michigan 😅 not gonna happen Up here. What color is that?
I can’t remember the exact name for it, but it was the factory color code bought in Nason. I have the code under the base spraying video if you ever want to buy some.
What are those wheel and tire sizes? LOOKS PREMO!!!
I think they were the cragar Nomad chrome, 15x10 rear with 295/50, and 15x7 front with 245/60’s
@@JustMoparJoe Thanks for the info Brother!👍👍🏁🏁
That turned out really nice dropped down a little what motor is in this
Thanks, Steve. It’s still the factory 318. The owner added a 4 barrel intake and aftermarket distributor to wake it up some.
@@JustMoparJoe nice im trying to find out how to build a 472 hemi i can find it as a crate motor on google or 472 stroker hemi but i cant find how to build one i havent found a build on you tube either i find cars or a few dyno but no build info
@@steveburlingame1935 Rick Seeman is the hemi man. He has a very detailed build of his 572
Oh you are painting it. Duh, should have read the entry better. Beautiful job. Great truck.
Thanks 👍
Walang gulong😊
Any Dodge truck from these first Gens right up until 2010 when RAM took over were rust buckets if they lived north of the Mason Dixon line in the winter. Not hating on them I have always owned Dodge trucks and still do but I know that from experience of owning many in my lifetime. Even most of the ones for sale now, unless lived in the southwest all their lives, are mostly full of patched rust...bodies, frames, floors, cab mounts...you name it. RUSTY. And people are asking STUPID money for the rotted out hulks that have been sitting out in the weeds for the last 25 years and were rusted out when they were put there.. I'll keep looking for a decent one for a reasonable price but I have come to realize that is a pipe dream... been there and done that anyway.
Look back in my recent videos. I bought a 4 speed truck that was from the mid 80’s. Arkansas truck for under $1,000.
Now all it needs is a LS
Ewww square body!!! You know I'm a birdbath guy and hafta give all the new age kids crap!
Damn, I am dying for a set of the smaller 70s pickup mirrors. So damned rare now adays. How'd you guys drop the rear on that one, axle over or hangar brackets? and what did you do for the rear bumper block-off?
Haha! Yea I love the 72-80 trucks. I have videos doing the shackles and the a separate video for the roll pan install and fitment. Thanks brother
@@JustMoparJoe I cant believe i missed those two. I have something similar in mind for Lurch (the big block 74 longbox Ive been slowly putting together that I have told you about). I have to do an axle flip and possibly shorten those swing brackets an inch to level out. Already working at the front end drop with B200 lower control arms.
Do you care to share the specs on rims and tires?
Not at all! Front 15x7 with 245/60-15. Rear was a 15x10 with 295/50-15
