If your Volvo is 2008 or newer, like my XC70, you do not have to separate the mirror from the glue! This video was very helpful and I was all prepared with my blow dryer to remove the mirror when I noticed both sides were completely loose! No glue? The boards on these newer mirror are NOT glued. Two guide pins and side clips are all that hold this in place. Just pull the clips back and gently pull the boards (two parts) out! That simple! You may also have the simple triangle clip that holds the entire mirror unit in place. If so, removing the mirror only requires removing the plastic cover (two sides clipped together) then twisting the mirror gently to remove it from the windshield clip. Reinstalling requires patiently lining the mirror clips up at a 45 degree angle then pushing up and twisting back in (this will make sense if you do it). Sorry I dont have a video, but I do want to save anyone time who has these newer mirrors. Also, the used mirror I purchased on eBay said it did NOT have the direction LED or rain sensor. It did. Hooked everything up and the direction LED lit up! This was a VERY easy repair on the 2008 XC70 and I imaging for the S80, S40 and perhaps others. Hope this helps!

You got my thumb up for instructing how to remove the green connector from the mirror.

Awesome video, BUT you don't even have to remove the mirror head from the car - just unhook the connector, then separate the mirror halves and remove any remaining connectors. PLUS - any plastic interior trim work like separating the bezel from the housing, never a metal screwdriver, use a plastic spudger. (In comments, someone mentioned guitar picks - same concept.) Dirt cheap at places like Harbor Freight, but available at any auto parts store. Also as WIDE as possible and you won't get dents.

@Symbolism 2005 -2008 s60 all the same includes the v70 ,xc 70 ,and xc90 ...they all swap around ive done it ..i have a 2007xc90 compass mirror in my 2006 s60 non compass mirror car runs fine.....im thinking the 99 -04 ones are the issue with swapping them around ....i know those years Volvo wanted to be the only fixer of Volvo issues but people bitched and it changed back to non deal computer reprograming and back to plug and play stuff

@@fredaydaybae8450 nah, the key fob communicates through the internals in the mirror. That's unique to each car.
