Thanks a lot for the video! Quick tip for anyone doing this job: I used thin guitar picks to seperate the front of the mirror housing from the back. I tried using a flathead screwdriver on the mirror housing that I was going to discard anyways and it left a bunch of dents and scratches on the plastics. So use guitar picks or something similar made of plastic and start on one of the sides and work your way towards the other side!

I was going in to swap a bad mirror from a 2001 V70. Had a salvaged 2006 XC70 mirror. Both came out as described other than the V70 needed an 8mm socket instead of the 10mm (XC70 had the 10mm). The bigger problem came from the way the circuit boards were attached to the mirror…the V70 used a sticky foam tape which was horrible to separate. I’ll try to add pictures for reference. Thanks for the video!

I accidentally ordered a non dimming glass but I managed to replace it, all you have to do is cut the 2 wires on the dimming mirror and and replace it with a non dimming mirror it got perfectly into the original housing and key fob ect still works

Some additional detail: the circuit board in the mirror is the UEM (Upper Electronic Module). It controls the key fob function including keyless entry, the sunroof, the interior dome lighting, the auto-dimming mirror, and components of the SRS airbag system. Problems with this board can cause airbag warnings on the dash, and inoperation of the sunroof, dome lights, auto-dim, and keyless entry. It is somewhat common for the capacitor on this board to fail due to age. This board is hard-coded to the car so you cannot simply swap a new board into the car, as mentioned in this video. There are services that will re-flash a new board for you but it is possible to service the capacitor yourself if you have some soldering skills.
Also, it is not necessary to remove the entire mirror from the car. While it may be easier to remove the bezel with the mirror assy on a bench you can simply disconnect the connector at the back of the mirror as shown and carefully remove the bezel and guts of the mirror from the mirror body while it's still in the car.

Volvo S60 2001 model rearview mirror is faulty as I see in the video. How can I find this mirror? It is not available in Turkey. I also want to ask. My car's remote control is not working. I changed the remote control battery but it still does not work. Where is the remote control panel in the car? I would be glad if you could help me. Thank you.

*Note* for anyone who news to do this be patient take your time if you never done something like this experiment on the junkyard one so that you don't mess up the original board.
There can also be 2 types of mirrors from what I've seen
    (1) my original mirror 2001 Volvo s60 T5 used double sided sticky tape I recommend using a hair dryer it a heat gun on low to slowly melt the adhesive off the foam tape if you have the same one like I did on my car.
    (2) the one I got off the Volvo in the junk yard was the clip style as shown in the video.

So were you able to insert that second type mirror with clips in your 2001 T5? Or you bought the right one after that?

Thanks, really helped. I think I saw an older version of this video by someone else and they had to use a heat gun to remove the circuit board from the glass. Which is the other version of the mirror you mentioned. The replacement mirror I've got is the same as yours and hopefully the same as the one in my car. I'll find out in a couple of days!

@@vasb2809 OK, done! My mirror was almost the same, but the original had the compass in it, the replacement didn't. My bolts were 8mm, think you said yours was 10mm. But otherwise process was the same. Thanks again!

Awesome video, BUT you don't even have to remove the mirror head from the car - just unhook the connector, then separate the bezel from the housing and remove any remaining connectors. PLUS - any plastic interior trim work like separating the bezel from the housing, NEVER a metal screwdriver, use a plastic spudger. (In comments, someone mentioned guitar picks - same concept.) Dirt cheap at places like Harbor Freight, but available at any auto parts store. Also as WIDE as possible and you won't get dents.

Modern cars scare me with all these unnecessary technology lol.

All I could find at the junk yard was a manual dimming mirror. Paid $8. The circuit board in both were held in with double stick tape. I was able to pry them apart and placed my circuit board in the manual housing.
