Found Another Oil Leak! Replacing The Timing Chain Tensioner on a 3 Series BMW 325i [N52B25 Engine]

- After rebuilding our N52 Engine, it has been leaking oil very slowly and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from but it was pooling from under the water pump/AC pump. After several months of driving, I inspected the area several times, I took a look top to bottom on the engine at all the areas it could leak oil, eventually finding the timing chain tensioner was supposed to have a washer on it. I had originally removed it and forgot to put it back on the new engine when I rebuilt it.

thank you so much for this video! I bought a 2001 525i that was leaking oil so it was cheap lol. it's been 2 years and so so many projects later after doing my valve cover, gasket, spark plugs, water pump, and than detailing my engine I finally found this leaking bad! your video made it possible to fix my own car.

Would love to hear a video about all the oil leak sources. I've replaced the OFHG, valve cover gasket and oil gasket but still have a small leak. 140k on a 330i.

Hi thanks for the video ,I have a question,when the tensioner is pulled out it cannot happen that the chain jumps on some teeth?
I think it can be possible if you are turning the engine quickly
if I leave the car without moving it in theory nothing happens right?
Of course, if you don't turn the engine, it cant skip a tooth

Hi, I have E70 3.0si 200kw, with 220000km on the board. I have a problem, there is like whistle noise, when the car is warm, and it is very rouhgh on the idle. Could that be this tensioner? I changed O2 sensor sparkplug, there is no vacum leak, i cleaned vanos. I dont know what to do, the machanic said that the chain is loose. Do you have opinion?
Maybe try to replace the chain tensioner first to see if it helps.

it is necessary to check the cleanliness of the 2 vanos filters which are to the right of the exhaust, and, with the car stopped, do 30 seconds at 3000 rpm
If they have never been checked, I suggest you take them out and clean them.
