    Now if only all the screws and nails I dropped would glow in the dark.

    To mount the Makita charger to a wall I 3d printed some brackets with keymods that fit where the rubber feet go, so much better than double sided tape.
    Also one time in the late evening I was working on my car in the garage sitting on the ground when all of a sudden the electric heater tripped the fuse and everything went pitch black. I sat on the ground with no light, no phone, no flashlight, lots of stuff to trip over and an open pit, so I couldnt really find a safe way out... The only thing I could see was my little Makita impact wrench glowing in the dark sitting next to me, so I was able to grab it and make it out safely using its light. Seems like a useless feature but this one time it was a life saver...

      It distributes the light around your bit giving it less shadow. It doesnt really glow bright enough to use it for work. It serves its purpose for sure

    I’m trying to decide on an 18v lineup, currently I have the Milwaukee 12v compact impact, my old hammer drill is at its end. Looks like the winner is MAKITA!

      I just realized that in 4 months it will be 10 years since i bought my Maketa 1/2" LCT drill and 1/4" driver (they are actually LXT product line that comes with smaller battery, so they call them LCT for compact). Still going strong and even glows in the dark...

    Wow that glow is a neat feature!
    Here is a neat fact about the Makita for you. The rubber guard around Makita logo on the side of the drill and impacts, was my idea. Many years ago I spoke to a Makita representative at my local Home Depot(Canada).I told them that some contractor put down his beaten up Makita drill and slightly scratched my engineered flooring.
    I said it would be better if it had a rubber guard to keep the drill body off the floor. The rep said "I will address it with my research and development." Then they came out with that guard a year later.

    What I have done with Makita chargers to hang on the wall. I take the charger apart and find some empty spots to drill holes and put screws away from anything that will arc in the bottom plastic. I cover the screw heads with electrical tape. I use half inch plywood smaller than the charger and use a forstner bit to cut out some on one side. I mount the side I cut on the plastic with the holes facing the plastic. On the other side I use a smaller forstner bit just under the other holes on the back. I use a drill bit to make the slot for the screw to slide up and lock in place. Works just like the real thing. 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @VCGConstruction
      @VCGConstruction  5 років тому +1

      It’s bizarre that you need to go through all that!

    • @akaredcrossbow
      @akaredcrossbow 5 років тому +1

      VCG Construction it definitely is pain and Makita should do something about it!
      I think the cooling fans in the Makita Chargers are the reason why Makita wants them to sit flat so the fans don’t fail prematurely.
      You can also replace the chargers case fasteners with longer fasteners and screw on a 1/4” piece of plywood that is 2” longer on the left and right then mount it to the wall with that extra plywood sticking out.
      Industrial strength Velcro works very well and you can still take it off the wall easily if you wanted to take it with you! But you still have to grind the plastic down to make it flat. No matter what you do, there is some type of no turning back modification.
      👍🏻👍🏻

  • @Centrikk
    @Centrikk 5 років тому

    I saw a guy who used screws in the middle of those pads who keeps the charger from moving this expanded enough to grip so it could be mounted to some plywood and then mounted to the wall, just a tip there. Didnt look for the video but it is here on youtube:))

    Just double click your battery into any makita charger and it will change it’s ring tone, there’s 4or 5 different sounds, I like the night at baseball tone myself😎

    I set mine to have a more distinct charge complete sound, not one of the melodies though, they remind me of a daycare.. You just have to click the battery on and off a couple time, I forget exactly how.
    Awesome charger though. Dog got to mine, had to make some new connections but I still use it to this day.

    Is that it? I knew that the day I got mine years ago, I was hoping you found a secret way of making trigger less aggressive and go from stop to full blast 99% of the time, or some secret creep or pulse mode for very slow rpm
