Hitachi 1200 Excavators Building a Landfill

- Trash doesn't magically disappear! Most waste ends up in landfills across America, which constantly expand to keep cities and neighborhoods clean.
This brings us to Beaver Excavating, a massive excavation operation in Ohio.
Last summer, we visited their operation to excavate a mountain of old mine tailings to form a new landfill cell, providing many more years of waste disposal for states along the Eastern seaboard.
They relied on a few 120-ton Hitachi 1200 excavators and a fleet of rigid frame haul trucks to knock out the task, moving 40,000 yards of earth daily to make it happen.

Oh come on…who doesn’t appreciate a well shot Beaver video . 👍👍
lol, excellent
😂😂😂
One of the best comments of all time
Beaver Excavating top notch operation!
Another great video, Aaron. Seems like everything was running as smooth as silk. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!!
I think the lifts are more than a foot
3 feet it looks like to me.
Was thinking the same, maybe about 1 metre lifts
More like a one yard lift 😊
I'd say 4 or 5 foot
Glad I aint the only one
Hopefully y'all will be able to post a bit longer videos again soon! they are awesome to watch as someone who is currently trying to get into the dirt world!
i’m retiring why don’t you come buy my business?
Aw man, you're in my neighborhood. I live right down the road from beaver headquarters.
can u talk more about the excevators? Hitachi and kobelco, noticed sometimes when a cat appears we get a lot more information about them, than other brands
I think that is because Mr. Watt has only gone to CAT manufacturers and major overhaul business 😊 but YES would love to hear him talk especially about the big H. Excavator. I saw one of those on the convention floor at Las Vegas Con- Expo
Obviously, reducing waste is ideal.. but if you're going to store waste for the long term, reducing & minimizing impact to the surrounding areas by doing it properly is the goal. The user (us) generally doesn't give a second thought into where our waste goes, but it's great to know a lot of engineering goes into waste management & protecting the environment.
1ft lifts, Who’s foot? King kongs? I’m building landfill cells here in Australia, there’s actually a lot in getting it right
I looked at the lift and said "da fuq?" more like a yard ;)
Aaron, i cant recall if you were on my site at the landfill some years back (you were on other sites the company had) , but this brings back memories.
Great video been waiting on this one for a while my brother drives one of the trucks in it it's kinda cool to see some one i know in a youtube video
No way you came to my city man that’s awesome been watching you for years thanks for the content
You know which game you can play at a landfill?
.....
WASTELAND! 😂😁😜
Gotta love the 815. Best packer for clays there is
Why don't they just skip that step and use coal mines as landfills as they're operating? Remove a whole bunch of steps. We have rail lines going right to the mines. What da heck?
He said in the start of the video it's an old coal mine and they use the rail line. If you mean progressive closure, mining and landfilling same time, could be ideal in a video game, but if you consider trying to build a modern liner simultaneous to block blasting an open cut adjacent, could be hard.
You know the drivers of the excavators are pumping 5 of diesel, a lighter, and pack of stogies😂
You should go to Indonesia too I think they have the largest copper and gold mine in there..
This is like watching MightyMachines on TVO in Canada. Thanks for posting,. Subscribed now!
Awesome ❤
Awesome video Awesome good commentary.
That’s Tunnel Hill landfill in New Lexington Ohio
Over here in the UK the compactor you referred to is known as a Sheep’s foot roller/compactor. Great vids🤙.
You should see the I 495 and I 90 protect. they’re destroying and rebuilding 18+ bridges and building and redoing 6+ exits with around 40-50 trucks and about 1000 people working around the clock. And soon doing 4:10/ 4 days 10 hours on top of their 9-9.5 hour days and six days a week it’s crazy.
So they wasted all that money doing the reclaiming for the mine to turn around and dig it back up
Very good show.
Yeah I want one
Excellent content
Not me living in canton and not knowing this big of equipment was so close. Crazy
Come on over to East Sparta! Countywide we have beaver on site site now digging a new cell.....do a landfill video
Y’all should take a look at big rail/big tie teams on csx or any of the big railroad companies
Love ❤️ 😍 💖
Cool Videos BRO !!!!!!! . Wanna see more content like this from You
Great work and nice machines, but all that because you can not recycle and turn the leftovers to energy
Love this. Thanks for sharing this video.
Best show ever
I wonder where they hid the brand new komatsu haul trucks that the guys wrecked.
Heavy equipment brother so big
Amazing what us human being have done to Planet Earth...Just to Dispose of Our Trash.
Catt 657 scrapers is the way to go for landfills
I’m just trying to find a job like this 🤦🏻♂️
Padfoot, the "specialty wheels" are Padfoot wheels.
Those special wheels are called sheeps foot compactor wheels hear in the UK 🇬🇧 are they called the same in the USA 🇺🇸
How about a colab with Mr. Digg in GA.?
They should side load thoughs trucks! Way faster!
We need longer videos aaaaaaaaron!!!!!! Lol
Always way too short!
The crowd i will for in Ireland has 2 1200 Hitachi one off them are a grizzly bear 2 a monster off a machine
I know exactly where that big garbage dump is at cuz I used to live down around that area it's the same area where garbage is brought in by trains from New York City and all over the East Coast polluting the small town in Southeastern Ohio New York should keep their garbage in their own City and stop polluting my little small towns where I grew up around but anyway keep up the great UA-cam videos
That's a 3-4 foot lift all day. Nothing about that is a 1 foot lift.
Why wasn't the coal mine company made to do this to start with ?
"1 foot" lifts
lol 1ft lift??
Lookin more like 2 or 2.5’ lifts hahaha
Must have a soil tech guy whose familiar with the company and there type of work
And does some magic with his little yellow machine and some paper work😂😂😂
Those ain’t no 1ft lifts….
