    To expand on what Aaron was saying about coal, it's easy to say coal is bad when your children and yourself are being clothed, fed, housed and educated no matter what power source your electricity comes from. Cheap energy makes all that much less expensive and actually possible when you have so little money to go around. Getting the poor access to cheap energy gives them the economic ability to care about the environment.

Wind and solar is also unreliable and not recyclable ontop of only having a 20 year lifespan and neither can be disposed of in a landfill because of the nickel, cadmium, lithium and fiberglass used in the manufactured components.

      this can't be proven and is highly unlikely. there needs to have been life on a planet for there to be fossil fuels, it doesn't have to have intelligent life on it now, like we do on earth.
      the rarest elements are surely the whole slew of them that are radioactive, ie are unstable and decaying.

      "... This is actually helping the environment ... people will burn coal instead of wood" Then he goes on talking about why it's important/good for for the *people* without expanding on how the "burn coal instead of wood" is helping the *environment*. Which on the surface seams reasonable until you realize that access to wood is limited while access to oversea coal is almost limitless. And rich people consume more energy than poor people.

    A little ironic that the coal is exported to Asia where many of the EV cars are build and exported to Europe. Germany has banned coal and now they have big problems to get enough energy. Other contries are forced to export green energy like hydro and wind energy thru agreements made by the EU. The consequense is that electricity prize is sky rocketing because of the larger demands for clean energy.

But I have been a very successful business. Then to top it off in 20 years I have never worked a day in my life. Make sure you never tell your kids they can't turn their dreams and passion into reality. As long as big government keeps its hand out of their pocket. The American government is the biggest cartel on the planet. Pablo Escobar was far less dangerous and far more trustworthy. The goverments best person is far worse of a person than Pablo was. I'm talking the ones in charge not the ones that think they are putting their life on the line to protect their children's freedoms. The Rothchilds and Rockefellers need removed from the planet. Heck, the most of the dams that power our cities are a thousand kilometers north and some of theses lines continue another 500 kms into the state of New York to export electricity. Something that is "remote" quite literally has to be at the northern tip of the province, where the only way in and out is by plane or boat.

    Nice video really informative seeing those big machines at work is really jaw dropping, can you do one at RIO TINTOs autonomous mines. One thing though all other developed continents keep telling Africa to switch to other energy sources and ditch coal, yet the same developed continents still use and import coal, its baffling really.

    What type of and size of Mechanic Trucks do they use on site to repair the 796 mine trucks should they break down in the mine excavation area or on the haul roads? Are they specialized trucks or do they just load and tow the 796s back to the mine shop?

    • @AaronWitt

      I'm a mechanic at a surface copper mine running 793s. Our field service trucks are pretty standard Super Duty chassis trucks with a service bed, crane, compressor, and welder. Where possible, trucks are repaired out in the field. Most issues are field-repairable (blown lines, starter failures, electrical problems, brake rotochambers) and the truck can be released without going to the shop. For more major problems, we get the truck to a state where it can be safely driven to the shop for further repair. If it absolutely cannot be driven, it's towed to the shop with a wrecker built off a 789 chassis.

      @@Porty1119 Thanks for the info, I was curious if the service/mechanic trucks for mining machines were specialized specifically for the large equipment or the typical service truck as used in our earthmoving fleet ie. the two Kenworth T880s with a IMT Dominator IV Body with 14,000 lb cranes and Miller Pro 800 welders we currently run. I’d like to see the wrecker mounted on the 789 chassis, has to be the largest wrecker in existence lol. Thanks again for the info 👍👍

    coal also has hundreds of thousands of other uses outside of cosmetics.
    i used activated carbon in my gardening constantly and some of the medication that keeps me alive and happy is made with coal byproducts. if it wasn't for coal mining billions of people, insects, animals and creatures wouldn't have access to clean, filtered and uncontaminated water as well.

    12:43 i get you kinda need to spin it in a good light no matter how hard it is, and the point you made technically isnt incorrect
    except 75% of our coal goes to japan, china, taiwan and korea, all of which are developed enough to not be reliant, india gets another 13% and theyre further behind and has a lot more areas where coal is useful
    not to mention only 70% of coal is exported, we burn 30% of the coal ourselves and we sure as shit arent using it to replace wood fire
    its abit of a stretch

    • @claytonnicholson830
      @claytonnicholson830 Рік тому +1

      Those countries you named that take 75% of our coal are importing mostly steel making coal not thermal coal, bevause like you said they are developed nations. That mine is sending thermal coal for power generation exclusively to India.

    • @vincentgrinn2665
      @vincentgrinn2665 Рік тому

      @@claytonnicholson830 yeah 40% of our thermal coal goes to japan... and another 25% goes to south korea and taiwan.
      theres plenty of thermal coal being mined that doesnt need to be, especially if its brown coal.
      big example being the 130million tons of thermal coal we use ourselves.
      the most immediately step we should take is just entirely stop the mining of lignite, its straight up garbage and has no place in utility/industrial scale applications,
      sure its usable at home scale for developing countries but thats worse for their health than burning wood, albiet better for the environment

    Burning coal helps minimize deforestation. Deforestation not only releases carbon, but it also exposes the ground to erosion and the river estuary environments and oceans to silting problems. Buening coal in the short run allows cooking with microwave ovens instead of wood. The leapfrog to microwaves is more efficient than natural gas and electric element cooking, too. There are a lot of ways developing nations are skipping damaging steps in technology development so they are not creating the hidden costs we are still paying for learning the harder way.

    If coal is so cool, why don't the Aussies set up a plant to make electricity to use to operate the mine.? Do you disagree that there isn't any economical way to burn coal in a way that doesn't create pollution? And the follow along question has to be do you think adding even more pollution to mother nature is a good idea?
