I feel like something has to be done to that engine cuz they're only rated at like 125 at the crank stock. I also wouldn't be trying to make 300 on a stock engine. Those rods are pencils and will ejecto seato very quickly. I'd just make like 2-225 and keep it safe and happy and build another block on the side and then swap it. Like you said, the z6's are getting hard to find
Didn’t hear if he stated but the vtec version came with 160 stock and doesn’t take much to make it quite a bit higher

That's huge power for a z6, sure the cold weather helped but that's stock b16 range to the ground.....first gen obd0 b16 with auto cams...

Awesome power for a Z6 with a third of a million miles! Be curious to see compression numbers . Wondering if maybe it has an aftermarket cam in it. I was guessing 112 before the run !

We had the same exact reaction lol. Soon as you said 140-141 I was like What, an u say What. Lol. I was thinking like 150crank and 110whp or so.
I think you should fix it up, cut out/ sheet metal the rusted spots, put a cheap cast log manifold on with your turbo parts and give it to the ol lady, she helps alot and deserves it.
I know the cast log manifolds kinda suck but should still easily get towards 250whp starting at 140 and it would still be a ripper on the streets for cheap.

Hey I'm getting ready to start my turbo build I was wondering if you could do a video on proper placement of wastegates blow off valves what to do with the exhaust from a wastegate I know a lot of people just blow it out the hood but I'm interested in plumbing it back into the exhaust

I think you keep the stock D16z6 as the “control” being that it’s a Wednesday motor. It’s like it’s a unicorn. Build up the Z6 motor in the back to what ever everybody thinks you should. I’d like to see if you could build the Z6 up to a all motor with all the good stuff and compare it to the stock Z6 then turbo or a shot of NOz or put it on corn. 💪🏼🔥🔥🔥👍🏻🌲

I have a 95 Civic Coupe EX z6 no AC no power steering no cruise control all been taken out nothing but two seats and a roll cage
I decided to be different and build a naturally aspirated z6 even with cold air intake headers full exhaust skunk2 intake manifold and skunk2 70 mil throttle body with some p29 high comp Pistons speed factory rods Ferrera flat face high comp valve springs retainers and I'm making close to 200 horsepower at the wheels yes that doesn't sound crazy but I smoke bolt on B series and k-series and h-series and nobody believes it's a single cam until I pop the hood!!!!
The look on people's faces is f****** priceless when they realize they got beat by a single cam and not just a single cam and all motor single cam 🤣🤣🤣
Get a stage 2 exedy clutch a skunk2 intake manifold and skunk 2 70 mil throttle body a good 1320 drag header for it a true full exhaust with no cat it will already be damn quick quicker than it is......... and the other mods I listed and I promise you you would be happy with this thing and it will be a hell of a lot more reliable than a turbo build I daily drove mine for almost 7 years before I turned it into a full-blown track car

My daily now is a 2004 V6 6-speed manual Honda Accord coupe with the very very very very very rare hfp Honda factory performance package comes with the front lip rear lip side skirts spoiler bigger Wheels bigger brake package leather/heated seats strut bars front and rear sway bars lowered suspension from the factory has been ripped out for coilovers and full bolt ons on the J series making 320hp NA AT THE WHEELS
I will never sell the Civic though that's been my baby and has a crazy custom black and blue candy paint job I've had k-series built B series 8 series J series and I'll tell you what nothing was more fun than surprising unsuspecting people with that all motor single cam
I have seen old NA builds with high comp pistons in the 150 range. The engine is solid.

Wow 140!? Thats fast for D! Hell ya man!. U inspired me to buy another honda and do a complete project.
For the seating, what Miata drivers who are like 6 foot + shave the bottom of the seat...... if you wish to save the steering wheel and use the same seat, I would look into shaving some of the foam off... since it's a del sol, I'm not sure if there are any lighter seats that is a universal swap, and I think some aftermarket seats might bump you up a half an inch. Don't take my word for it, just try to look it up on the Del Sol forums... liked and subbed🔥🔥
Man that is a miracle motor or wonder if it has headwork ( porting,cam and milled head ). Those are good numbers.

WOW! Best car ever! :) :) I am really surprized. The heater thing: I also noticed that the heater is so nice in the Del Sol, but if you think through, the interior is half size of a civic and the heater is the same, so somewhat understandable. :) I like this cars so much. :)

That b BARKS holy crap dude.... I change my original comment. Pull that one. Build it. Rod pistons. Good dingle berry hone. "New" vitara style pistons. Skunk2 no notch. Hastings rings gapped to .021 top ring and .025 bottom. 18psi on a maxspeedingrods Gt2871 $180 turbo. send it. 330whp. Guaranteed.
No idea how it's making more power than the factory specifications (It only made 125hp 106tq factory?). Insane!

Considering your point of the Z6 stuff getting rare i would keep the stock motor as is. I would then build the unknown one up. If the unknown one is garbage use the good one as a backup, if the one you build breaks for whatever reason.
The start of every modder, wanting to better what is already great and then regretting it when the engine blows up. Searching for another telling themselves they just want something that is original and runs, only to get back into the cycle of being bored, aspiring more power and then selling the whole thing when there is too much wrong with the car.
The death of so many of these Delsol, Civic, Integra etc. Too many back yard racers, chasing insatiable pursuit of power and resulting diminishing appreciation, funds and interest.
My guess was going to be about 105hp 85 ftlb torque. I was not expecting 140 at all.
Also, I’d absolutely love to do a dyno test on my 1992 4runner! 22re, 4.88 gears, 33” tires, manual, emissions deleted. I would love to see 100+ whp but I’m sure it’s closer to 80 haha. It does go 90mph on flat ground
On stock tires prob close to 100 I would think. 33s would def drop it under 100 but they're a tough engine and fun vehicles.
@@BDauto86 the 4.88 gears make it where it’s actually about stock gearing, a little shorter actually(5% shorter I believe). Stock is 4.10 gears and 29” tires. So it should read accurately according to rpm’s… just more weight from the bigger tires lol
@@j_mars_cars right. My dad had a Toyota pickup when I was a teenager. He redid the truck and set it up like that, we took if off roading alot it was a beast for such a basic setup. We thrashed on it pretty hard I thought, some guy bought it to plow snow and literally used it another 10yrs. Lol
Well hot damn! I've noticed the obd1 motors tend to rip when they're taken care of. I had an ej2 coupe with a b18a1 and gsr trans with a spicy basemap set by my buddy nick and I literally stood next to a 9th gen si tuned on bolt ons. Full set of hotboy wheels in the car plus tools, a jack and my fat ass In the cockpit.
Hell yeah! Just ready to rock and roll!
I think it made a best of 113.03 whp. Anything above that is exceeding all expectations.
Turbo definitely! Try to run around 225 whp with the weight of the del sol should be small beast

I had one years ago and did a lot of trial and error. The best matched turbo for the money was a 14b. It comes off a Mitsubishi eclipse. Back in the day you could join dsm forums and buy the stock turbo and 450cc injectors off the Mitsubishi guys. The stock d16z6 is matched perfectly for those parts.
Also the chassis is tight. The problem is the bushings. Any questions let me know.

Nice numbers but surely that engine has had a rebuild in its life. 366k miles or 585k kms is like diesel engine numbers. It could have a high comp build maybe to explain the good power figure.

This is a very believable number. I used to have b20 and then sold that swap. God a z6 stock just vtec locked it. And that thing rips isn’t much slower than the b20 was up to 60 mph 😂.

Also the del sol didn't have a trunk pop till later, and if it did have it it was built into the gas door poper
My roommates eg leaked gas when full as well had a pinhole on the pinch weld around the seam ended up just swapping it

Test what mpg it's at now and see if you can get more then a prius

For a Honda engine especially built in the 80's and 90's (B, D, F, H's etc) had no M,T,W,Th,F build. They were ALL precision built.
All of the above mentioned engines are capable of propulsion for life if maintained, not raced or modded.
Many of these engines are pushing 30 to 35 years of age in their original chassis or making the rounds as engines still factory sealed.

I've seen somewhere before that those Z6 motors can put down close to what they are rated for at the flywheel (125 hp?) but 137 is ridiculous.
I was thinking like 92 HP. I thought they only came with 120-125 from the factory.
That's more than stock b16s make.... when we use to dyno stock em1s we would get 135-140 from healthy ones, and 125-130 on others
B16 makes 160-165 on my dyno with bolt ons
Does the dyno need calibration? A d16z6 is supposed to be 130hp crank stock, so like 100whp ish
It’s been calibrated to match dynojet numbers. This car truly is making a good amount of power. I’m not sure if it is stock.
Double what I guessed. I think 3rd multiplied it slightly. Turbo it-just gap the rings, the internet said for years you could only run 7 psi on a junkyard ls. Turns out people on fb do really dumb shit. Doesn’t really matter of the number is correct or not as long as it behaves the same every time as gives you something to benchmark and measure against.

holy crap man! i’ve got a 94 del sol si, done a lot of cosmetic stuff but no performance stuff, it’s completely stock except an exhaust, not even an intake, i want to put an intake on it but can’t find a cheap ish one, anybody have an recommendations?

The single jingle more then likely has porting done in the head I had one in my 89 crx si for a Lil bit when I had my b18c out getting darton sleeved and arp 1/2 inch head stud drill / tapped ext and had a race I couldn't miss was planned for like 6 moths was sapose too have my engine back and good 2 weeks too get all the goodies installed and back together and in the car with alil testing done b4 going outta state for the call out I had on me and of course it came down too pulling a all nighter putting together a single jingle z6 and in the car and on trailer headed 12hrs south next morning.. soo engine was stock was pulled with high miles for a friend too get his kseries in I took it apart dug out all the files and grinding attachments in the garage I went too town porting everything I even went back too a old sneaky modification from way back in the day ... the bike chain and liquid sealer in the short block cp piston scat rod combo on stock crank used Bisimoto 2.4 camshaft went threw drilled heads out and all bolt holes in the head too use all my bseries arp bolts springs valves ext threw old shity ram horn from back in the day ya kno ones that would Crack every dam WOT except this one a friend fully reinforced made it look wild a hold a pte6262 perfect with dual 38mm ewg used set of 2150 fic injectors few other upgrades threw it on e85 and she was at pretty much 700 wheel mid 400 tq at only 26 psi ... it was a gangster ass engine for awhile blew my mind

I remember a b18b integra only putting 128 whp. But on a Dynojet 224. You sure you don’t have a happy dyno?
The motor deserves to live! Rebuild the other motor, do NA bolt ons to this one. Fix the body, suspension and brakes and see what you can get out a NA d series before you drop a built turbo motor.
Do like a baseline and final bolt on drag race runs with it as well.

Build the one in the car, it’s a VERY healthy motor, a very good builder, the 100$ engine I’d experiment with boosting it stock, then I wouldn’t feel bad about killing a perfectly healthy Z6
