I an a descendant of Frederick Emert. He settled in "Emerts Cove" around 1790. It is now called Pittman Center. Since they changed the name of the town, they named the covered bridge after him. Great video!! Also, my grandmother was born and raised in Elkmont/Sugarlands. My great grandparents cabin was moved from the Sugarlands to Roaring Fork Trail for preservation. It's so beautiful in the Great Smokey Mountains ❤ My mothers side of the family is buried at Levi Trentham cemetery including my mother. She passed last November. She was born in Sevierville.
Well thank you for sharing all that we really appreciate that! Really enjoy hearing all the old stories from the past! Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂 we did a follow-up video if you want to check that one out!

Just got back last week from a 3 day trip to the Smokey mountain national park. It was absolutely breathtaking. Very crowded....I think a lot of people were ready to travel after covid. Seems like they all went there! Even though it was packed it was still very enjoyable.
It's always extremely packed in the Smokies. That's one reason why we made this video to give people some other options on things to do and places to go that might not be so crowded. Thanks for watching 🙂

I love this!! We did a similar “scavenger hunt” video when we went to Eureka Springs last year and I think it’s such a fun concept!! 💕💕💕 The Smokies are totally on my travel list!! I love how you include all the history behind these places as well! Thanks so much for sharing!
Awesome! It was really fun finding locations in learning about the history behind them. Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you get to find some of these places one day! If you know anybody Else this video might help send them a link to it 🙂 Thanks for watching!
You are super adorable, and give a wonderful presentation. We vacationed a lot in the Smokies and would like to see these places, cabins remind me of Cades Cove one of my favorite places. We were there in the fall of 2020 and were astounded at the amount of people in Gattlingburg in October! Not like it used to be in the 70s & 80s. Guess that’s progress. We’ll be retiring next year and plan to move there, can’t wait, see y’all soon. God Bless
Well thank you for watching glad you enjoyed the video! Love the area hopefully we'll be able to move to North Carolina one of these days Gatlinburg is way too packed I wouldn't want to live in that area. Definitely make sure to check out part 2 and 3 if you haven't already.
Those look so cool I never been to the Great Smokies but I want to go camping there some time. As an artist I love capturing nature and old buildings and stuff in my work. I do paintings and wood burnings and those places you mention would be great to sit down with an easel and capture its beauty in a painting or wood burning. I have a travel easel and I take it with me when I go hiking.
Awesome ! Well you'll definitely find a lot of beautiful old structures out in the Smoky Mountains! Glad we could show you some new places! If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content like this regularly. Thanks for watching 😀
Living in the UK I never knew about any of them but I would love to visit all of them. I like the idea of missing the crowds mind, nice to have it all to yourself, cheers Alan
My grandmother was born up in Murphy county and the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina and there's things you told me I didn't know even existed up there but I haven't been back to North Carolina I'm almost 32 years I moved West for a better job opportunity when the textile mills went down I'm from kannapolis originally and I do miss home the food the people the culture the music I miss it all and my daughter sleep back home in North Carolina I really enjoyed your video thank you. 🇺🇲☮️💕
North Carolina is a beautiful state hopefully one day we'll move there! We're from Middle Georgia we just like it up there a lot so we travel back and forth. Glad you enjoyed the video if you haven't already check out part two and three we did follow up to this one with a lot more hidden gems! Thank you for watching 😀
Awesome information I loved all of these . Great places I never heard of. Loved the ghost town and covered bridges and the last house with all the moss and hearing the water. Very peaceful
One day I hope to say the same! Hope you enjoyed the video! If you did there's 2 other parts to this video with more hidden gems and we upload weekly so consider subscribing 😊 Thanks for watching!
I only visited the smokey mountains as a 7 year old child, 53 years later, will be my return in Mid-September so looking for trips to make! I will be there for a week so hoping to see the fall foliage. Can't wait! Really want to visit the ghost town.
Awesome! Well you're in for a treat 🙂 I hope you have a great time and get to see you everything you want to see! The ghost town is very easy to find just a Google Elkmont Ghost Town. And the troll Bridge is in the same area. Thanks for watching 🙂 if you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content like this weekly 😀

Awesome I'm glad we can help you find some new locations to Explorer! If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content like this weekly 🙂 thanks for watching!
I definitely need to get to the Great Smoky Mountains. I think the trail tunnel under the road and the spring house are so cool. Loved the vibes of the video; nice work!
Before the big fires some years ago , you could see all the awesome homes that were scattered all thru that area. I was lucky to take a day to photograph all the homes before they were destroyed.
We absolutely love this place been traveling here for years 🙂 glad you enjoyed the video. If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content like this weekly. Thanks for watching 🙂
@@NickandRachel We used to camp in the Cherokee area across the border in N Carolina, when I was a kid with my family. We visited Cades Cove, Gatlinburg, Clingman's Dome, and other areas. A gorgeous part of our country. I need to visit again. New sub, will be checking out your vids over the weekend.
It is a beautiful part of the country I'm so glad it's not too far from where we live 😁 sounds like you have some awesome memories there! We appreciate that! Don't be a stranger Appreciate you commenting and watching 😁
@@NickandRachel Cloudland Canyon was our rest stop on our way to N Carolina. That's another gorgeous area of our country to visit. Gotta run ...have a great weekend, and thanks for the uploads. Cheers!!
Tennessee is closer to us. We lived in Arkansas. One of these days will try to visit these hidden gems. The moon bridge and fairy house are amazing. Love the covered bridges too. I was amazed about the history of these covered bridges. The Smoky Mountain is a must see place.
You're welcome! Putting out another video kind of like this tomorrow morning with a different location. If you haven't already consider subscribing. Thanks for watching 🙂
We moved from Detroit to the Smoky mountains last June and started making videos as well. We've been to half these places but not all, thanks for sharing
Well hopefully you get to check them out soon! Awesome! If you haven't already consider subscribing me upload content like this weekly. Thanks for watching 🙂
I was just there a few days ago on vacation and searched out the Elkmont ghost town because I saw your video. Thanks so much! I would have driven right by it because it's just labeled a camp ground.
That's awesome I'm glad you found the video useful! Hope you had a good time there! Consider subscribing if you're not already will be uploading a follow-up video to this with more hidden gems pretty soon! Thanks for watching 🙂
I have been to Smokey Mountain it’s just I live in Paducah and Smokey Mountain is like in Tennessee so it’s super far away from me I wanna get to go there one or two times my second experience was so fun my cousin came when we spent two days there and we came back for the third night it was so fun I loved it and my cousin did too hope you have a fun time
Very informative video...great content! I've been to Gatlinburg several times as a teenager, but never got to explore as it was always the dead of winter. Have to add it to my list now.
Definitely give it a shot next time you're there! We recently uploaded a second part to this video was 6 more hidden gems. If you want to check that one out. Thanks for watching 🙂
Love this video, thank you for sharing. I've seen them all but the secret tunnel and the fairy house which we are hoping to find this year. Elkmont and the Troll Bridge were really cool, got some great pictures in some of the ruins along the way. My neice and I made it a game of spotting chimneys
Elkmont area is beautiful we really enjoy going there! Hope you get the chance to cross off the next two on you're list! Thank you for watching we really appreciate it 🙂 if you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content weekly.
The Voorheis Estate is still standing, considerably more intricate than the Bud Ogle Cabin, and is located at 35°41'9.22"N 83°29'59.85"W. It is currently the Twin Creeks Resource Center Inventory and Monitoring Office.
I tend to be up there at least once a year. Think i might start looking up some of these places and taking the kiddos. Lot cheaper than the normal family activities in that area
Definitely cheaper any make a lot more memories! Glad you enjoyed the video hope you get the chance to find some of these places 🙂 if you know anybody else who might enjoy the list send them this video 🙂 thanks for watching!
Really glad you enjoyed the video we had a lot of fun making this one! If you know someone else this video might help out send them a link 🙂 thanks for all the support!
Glad you enjoyed it 😊 hope you get to check out some of these places. If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content weekly. Thanks for watching 🙂
I don't remember exactly off the top of my head how do I get there but you could Google both of the names of the bridges and get directions or we left a link in the description that might give you some more information on them and how to find it. Thanks for watching!
Oh yeah, Elkmont is really cool definitely could spend a whole day in that part of the park easy. Glad you found this video useful if you know anybody else who it might help share it with them please. Really appreciate you watching 🙂
lots of awesome places in the Smokies ❤️ If you haven't seen it already there's three more parts on our channel if you want to check those out. Thanks for watching!
A few of the many reasons why I married her! Glad we could show you some areas you never seen before. Thanks for watching if you haven't already consider subscribing we uploaded content weekly.
So much history in that area and that oldest house is pretty cool. That ghost town would be pretty scary to roam. Before going to a place do you do a lot of research or do you just go and figure it out as you go? Really pretty area there. I remember the house of the ferries. Have a great Easter guys.
The ghost town was really cool! We try to do all our research beforehand and if we learn something new when we get there we'll add it in. The problem we have with some of these locations is a lot of the Articles you find on the internet are fake and when you have to decipher which ones are real or not. Like no lie every article we read about the house of the fairies and how to find it gave completely wrong directions. it was just someone trying to write a blog to drive views to their website about a place they have never been. Thank you for watching you guys have a good Easter as well!
We're from Middle Georgia that we travel to Tennessee a lot we love that place! There's so much to see you're going to have a great time living there! Glad you enjoyed the video. If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content Weekly!
Awesome you're going to love it the Smokies are beautiful! Glad you enjoyed the video if you know anybody else who might find it useful send them a link 🙂 thanks for watching!
Hike about 45 minutes past rainbow falls and there is a clearing where the forest fire came through. There is a rocky outcrop with amazing views up there. Not any people there either.
We'll definitely have to check that out next time we're hiking up Rainbow Falls! Thanks for the tip! Thanks for watching we appreciate it 🙂 if you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content like this weekly
Definitely an amazing place! If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content weekly. Got another video of the Smokies coming out tomorrow really cool location. Thanks for watching!
Being born in Manchester Tennessee I'd love to see the Smoky national park but no doubt crowded compared to the mountains of Southern Arizona , it's not all desert.
It's definitely crowded but that's why we hang out on the less crowded popular areas most of the time. Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed this video check out part 2 and 3
We love finding hidden gems and these were great! Loved the disused hiking tunnel at the start of the vid, its one of those places majority of people would just drive over and never know about which kind of makes it all the more special 🧡
You guys hit it out of the park with this thumbnail and the number of views you guys got on day 1 shows that. I bet that tunnel and covered bridges make great IG photos. I'm sure there are a lot of wedding photos in those areas. Our family is all about hidden gems. You guys sure made the most being in that area.
He really love it there! So many places to see! We got another video coming out soon that we could have added to this list but we decided to do a whole video on it. Gatlinburg Tennessee is the most visited honeymoon destination in the US.
Glad you enjoyed it we really had a good time tracking all those places down! If you know someone else who might enjoy the list send them this video please. Really appreciate your continued support 🙂
oh wow I really like how you guys have so many videos on hiking and secret trails! I only started hiking 2 years ago and mostly done New England hikes since I live here. But I really want to try to hit as many national parks as possible! I feel like I have so many videos of yours to watch to educate myself!
Well if you ever have any plans on talking in the South we definitely have a good videos! The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park in America it's beautiful if you ever get the chance highly recommend it! Thanks for watching 🙂

I would have been awesome to see wish I would have made it over there sooner.

What is the place circled in the left of your thumbnail pic? I know it’s near the fairy house, I’ve seen it but can’t figure out what the brick is.
That structure is actually hidden in the woods on the right as you're going down the road towards the research center.
Yes, we saw it a few weeks ago after visiting the fairy house but we cannot find out what is was, why it was built etc
@@raerussell8116 I'm not sure look like some kind of fountain to me.
The Voorheis Estate is still standing, considerably more intricate than the Bud Ogle Cabin, and is located at 35°41'9.22"N 83°29'59.85"W. It is currently the Twin Creeks Resource Center Inventory and Monitoring Office.
We'll have to check that out!

@@NickandRachel That makes it much tougher.
