Love Mount Mitchell. Went there a few years back. It was closed the last time we went. Next time I’ll have to hike instead of driving ha I have young kids so we drove. I’d like to hit all the mountains in NC.
You definitely get a really good appreciation for it once you hike it 😁 definitely not easy. We really had a great time there finally glad we got to do it! We got a long list of mountains in North Carolina we got to check off still! Appreciate you checking out the video
Oh you won't regret it this is a really fun hike! Hopefully you get some pretty views at the top 😁 if you haven't already consider giving us a follow and we post videos like this weekly!
Loved watching your hike up to the summit and congradulations it really is an accomplishment. I did this hike in June 2023 and at 65 years I needed to get this off my bucket list before I was too old. Keep hiking.
@@rockesark9689appreciate it 😁 That's awesome to do that at 65! Really hope we are able to do things like this at that age! If you enjoyed this video you should definitely check out the others we have on our channel We do hikes like this all the time! Happy 4th July! 🎉
There was a lot of huge mushrooms on this Trail! And some of the ones you were saying you were definitely rishi 🍄 Good eye! appreciate you watching and commenting!
"Alltrails is a liar"... Indeed it is! It really messed with Mister and I on our Palmetto Trail Hike. We thought we should be done at 14.9 and it ended up at 16.7... That extra 1.8 miles is the longest ever cause you think you should be DONE! Well done guys! Especially with the injuries! Thats rough! Haha we noticed when you guys were taking your lunch break Rachel made a face trying to open her drink cap! 😬You pull off the Lumberjack look pretty well! When we came down and did the PMT we hiked through that same Lord of The Rings type atmosphere... it was awesome! Good job, on to the next bucket!
Can't ever trust alltrails 🤣 yeah once you get it in your head that it should be over it's hard to bounce back 🤣 Usually instead of struggling she just hands it to me 🤣 Love my flannels! Favorite type of weather to hike in! I'll have to check out that PMT video when it comes out.
Wow! That seems like a tough but incredible hike! I love the part of the video where you're above the clouds - that must have been a breathtaking view! ⛰ It's so cool that you got to see the grave of Dr. Elisha Mitchell. I also loved how you highlighted the importance of being prepared for a hike like this. 👍 Did you end up having to hike out in the dark? 😬
It was pretty tough! Yeah I love hiking in the mist and into the clouds 😁 such an awesome resting place that's for sure! Yes we did there's a little bit of us hiking in the dark towards the end of the video back to the car.
It was a fun hike! Finally got to check off the king of the mountains over here on the East Coast 😁 couldn't help myself 🤣 Cool looking out over the horizon and seeing all the other mountains we have hiked in the past!
You definitely got to go do some hikes out that way! So far most of my favorite hikes have been in North Carolina. We seen a couple of those springs on the trail. Yeah I'm glad it cleared up so we could see something. Thanks for watching!
I think colors stand out more easily in those conditions. Some of my favorite photos of fall colors came from a hike in the Cohutta Wilderness on a foggy rainy day. The colors just pop in those conditions. We haven’t done this one so it’s another added to our list. Thanks for posting! And I’d much rather be going up using a headlamp than descending. ESPECIALLY w/o my hiking stick! Glad y’all arrived safe and didn’t take any spills along the way.
Definitely my favorite weather condition to film in! That's why we loved the Olympic National Park so much it was just so beautiful! Definitely reminds me of the smokies another temper green forest. Hopefully God willing will be heading to Oregon in July hopefully get a lot of good videos from there! Going downhill always sucks no matter what kind of condition 🤣
We're finally glad we able got to knock it out 😀 not sure how far you live but maybe you could stay at the campground wake up early and start would be really good springtime hike! Appreciate you watching
Not too far. It took us about 4 hours and 40 minutes to get there. Wish we would have stayed in a campground. Maybe Google it and see before you go I'm not sure what days they're closed.
@@NickandRachel Thank you! Hey have y’all considered doing the Alabama Triple Crown that As The Crow Flies Hiking has put together? I just did it the weekend before last and it was so much fun!
@@sharpironhikers1878 oh yeah I know all about it I was actually hiking with Metro on the move last weekend. I'm not sure if we'll ever do it but it does sound like a lot of fun!
Great hike. We are slowing working on the peaks of the Adirondacks but that's almost a 6 hour drive so chipping away little at a time. The one that we have almost finished is completing the AT in the state of PA where we live.
That's awesome I would love to make our way to the Adirondacks one day! Beautiful mountain range 😁 that's an awesome accomplishment once you finish it! We did a few miles last weekend on the AT Georgia. Might have to complete it now that we started it lol
Love seeing the cloud inversion. This hike is beautiful. Thank you for taking us along. I have 117 miles of the smokies done but have moved away so it’s harder to try to finish my map.
I love these types of hikes! Probably my favorite really moody ones. I know what you mean it's slow going when you don't live close by! That's one of our goals is to finish all 900. Driving up from Middle Georgia slowly chipping it away lol Hope you get to finish it!
It is so cool how when you get higher up it turns in to alpine forest its like an alpine island also I bet it was super cold up there also love the video
Yeah I love it. It starts smelling like a Christmas tree farm! 🌲😁 It's definitely a lot cooler at the top! But your blood is pumping so you're pretty warm lol awesome glad you enjoyed the video! Appreciate you watching and commenting. We upload videos like this weekly. Hope to see you around in the comments!
Sitting here watching tou guys on mt mitchell trail....been to Mitchell plenty of times , would that be the Ranger trail ya'll are on? I hiked some of that once , starts at Summit? Just curious, its beautiful their and have not been to that area in years ....thanks guys for taking me along ...love ya'll!
We started our trail at the Black Mountain campground. Not sure if that helps you or not? Also we pinned our all trails route in the description of the video if you want to check that out. This was an awesome hike I'm glad we did it! Wouldn't mind doing it again one day. Appreciate you watching and commenting!

Well congrats on hiking the highest mountain on the East Coast! Hope y'all had a good hike! I know we had a really good time👊
Absolutely gorgeous hike my friend, such a lovely scenery and beautifully presented!
Appreciate you watching! We had a great time 😁
Massive mushrooms on the trees lol. They look like reishi mushrooms, though I could be wrong
